We all have so many questions about the SeaDoo Switch. We were curious how well it could handle some rough water, so we tested it out in the Gulf of Mexico on a day with high winds!

This is such a great demonstration!! We were worried about it handling rough water on the Hudson River and in New York harbor but I’m feeling more confident after watching this vid!

Had my Switch out in rough water like this on Lake Washington in Seattle, it handled great. I did get some engine overheating warnings when the boat was completely air-born going over some big waves, probably because it wasn't sucking in any water, I have the 21-230. I came to the same conclusion you did, never felt like the boat was unsafe, and I hit those waves going 35mph, but you definitely want to hold on.

Yes, super stable. The go pros don't do those waves any justice. They were over my head at some points.

@@JetBoatPilot Good video . Not that I worry about survival but would
not want to put my 13 footer through that. And God forbid my wife being
with me if I dared to try.🤣🤣🤣

@@Harelston Its not so much that you go out looking for this stuff, but mother nature can change quickly and you could find yourself in it in a hurry. We wanted to encourage Switch owners that if you do, don't panic. You'll be fine. Maybe a little wet, but safe.

@@JetBoatPilot Gotcha...just wanted to add my two cents based on a smaller
Switch. I have been out in somewhat rough conditions and my wife pretty much
freaked. So it is going to vary a good bit on the perspective as to how safe it
is depending on boat size and overall boating experience by the individual.
But you proved your point well I think. Personally I would like to go three or
4 miles out in ideal conditions. But for sure I would check the weather thoroughly
first . Just speaking for myself I would not enjoy getting caught in a bad storm
in this type of boat. You can do a lot with them but they are really made best
for lake type conditions I assume most would agree.

Great video! My Switch will never see chop like that, but it definitely demonstrates the capability of the Switch in rough water. Impressive! Are you all going to post a follow up with some context and your experience filming this? I think that would be some great insight for those that are on the fence about buying one or aren't sure if they should bring it out in rough water.

@@JetBoatPilot more of your opinion of how the boat handled, is there anything you wouldn’t recommend or try again, what surprised you about the test, how fast were you going, how big were the swells, etc.

@@ZacColeman Let me see if we can do a follow on. It's really not feasible to take a video down and redo it but a follow on to the one shown could be done easily. We do really like the Switch and I think there is an audience out there for this type of discussion.

If water can seep down between the cracks of the decking when a wave crashes over, how does it escape the hull ? Or is it just there until you trailer it and pull
    The plugs?

I wonder if the sport can handle same, difference size...

    • @JetBoatPilot
      @JetBoatPilot  Рік тому

Switch comes in a Compact size at 13' long, a 16' with an optional swim platform (makes it 18') and a 19 ' footer with the option for the swim platform making it 21' long. The sport is essentially an option package which includes lower front rails and less furniture with more padded floor tiles. The 18' Sport should ride the same as the 18' Cruise. The big difference would be in the handling and ride quality of the Compact which is obiously lighter and shorter. My guess is that it would be a rougher ride and not as well able to handle bigger waves.
