  • In this video I show you I replaced the horn on my car, this is the same process to fitting a new horn to any car really, the difference being mounting postions, access etc, but its all the same unbolt the old, fit the new and wire it up job. You can't go wrong fitting a horn; its as simple as mounting it and wiring it up, and horns aren't polarity sensitive so which connection goes where doesn't matter.
When the horn failed on my 1997 Ford Escort, I had to fit what I had laying around which was a motorbike horn removed from a Honda VFr750FG motorbike. Since this horn sounded pretty pathetic and embarrassing I needed to get the proper thing back on. I took the opportunity to swap it out for a dual-note horn removed from a new Ford (Focus Mk2, although this is the same as S-Max, C-Max, Focus, Mondeo etc)
The new horn sounds much better than the old, and is still OEM. The original horn was a single tone, low note horn, the new one as used on modern Fords is a dual tone horn, which consists of the same low note horn, but also a high note horn too.
I had to make some wiring adaptations to convert my single spade terminal original wiring, to the newer connector Ford uses, but that was but a 5 minute job.

Mate thanks for your video and thanks for making it sound so simple. I actually trained at college to be a mechanic but forgot everything 😆 just brought myself a mk6 ford escort van with the cosworth body kit and rs2000 engine. Trying to finish somebody else's unfinished project without having much clue what i was doing or what all its problems were. Thanks to little videos like this im slowly getting it ready to drive:)
