DO NOT BLOW AIR INTO THE FANS. Hold the rotating part of the fan and then blow, but don't let it rotate (especially not that fast). You could damage them.
Thank you very much for this! Very appreciated. I followed along and everything worked out great. Instead of twine I used kite string, but it was so thin that I had to use winter gloves to pull it. To help with the glue, I used inexpensive solvent (Goo Gone, for $5) and a plastic scraper, made that part much easier.
This video was very helpful. A better idea instead of the twine, is using Isoproply Alcohol. Use a large eye dropper and put some around each cell. Give it 3 or 4 minutes and pry and pull.
I did all this successfully a few days ago, and it turned on as normal. However, after a few days of not using it, my macbook won't turn on. I can hear the fans rotating when I press the power on key, but nothing has so far worked to wake it up. Nothing was damaged and like I said, it switched on when new battery was first installed. What the hell is wrong?!
Quick question: Do you have issues with the battery? I had to change mine three times because the other 2 were goin' down to 5% and then decided to stay at this percentage for like 1 or 2 hours. After like 9 oder 10 cycles they've lost a huge amount of capacity and MacOS told me to change it. The third one seems to work fine.
No, don’t listen to ifixit, they want you to take apart everything, the fans, Bluetooth antenna, etc. it’s unnecessary . Just unplug the battery connector and unscrew the screws attached to the battery.
i used dental tape, with and without azeton, alcohol aso. its all pain in the ass, the plastic starts to look like shit, i think the only and the right way is to stick to the ifixit tutorial, after 2hs of fuckin up my hands, i would 100% NOT recommend that shit
Where did you get your new battery from? Also, why do you still cover your front face camera? If for privacy, let me aware you that now they have a way to access your audio, wifi and other devices to send out a almost sonar like single to map out your face and things in the background. They are also targeting those that are covering their cameras and using that very act as an admission to "hiding something" which will result in further surveillance on you.
Amazon. Link is in the description. Having the camera cover is just one form of privacy. Nothing is safe and nothing is unhackable, but not doing anything is far worse :)
Had to play this video like 15 times, but it works :) I used a pizza slicer to scrape off the glue residue from the original battery.

read this too late
but thanks anyway!
I've been studying battery repairing and found a great resource at Magic Mender Wizard (check it out on google)
Too late !

Great detailed info that saved a lot of hassle. Thanks!
Just saying if you blow air into your fans it creates voltage as the fans act like a generator and this can cause damage to the system
We need more Palombo tutorials
Thanks for taking the time to do this, super helpful!
Thank you very much. It’s easy.

I will use Spider Wire fishing string. I use it for other things as welll.
I use 25lb test fishing line. tied it to two pencils, so I wouldn't have to hurt my fingers. Worked very well.
thanks dude that was great
Hi, im about to do this as my battery has just died ! Is it okay to cut to shape the form covering the adhesive and just not have it glued down?
I wouldn't recommend it. The battery swells when heated so you'll need all the space you can get.
Hi! Can you tell me the model number of your Macbook, is it A1398? Thank you.
JC Rivard my Model Identifier under System Profiler says MacBookPro10,1
Eclipse and TextWrangler, niiiiice, I'm more of a Vim guy though
Vim is great!
Looks like he has xcode too gang gang
that's good work

old Credit card works very well to remove the battery's
Anyone know if their is a bigger capacity battery so I can get better battery life?

Bern Esch not yet. So far so good. "Knock on wood"
Do I need to unscrew the other important parts on the computer from the motherboard? Can I use dental floss with alcohol 70% instead of using twine?
No need to unscrew anything else. Dental floss may work well and the alcohol should help a bit so you don't have to pull as hard.
Do I have do disassemble the entire macbook?
Mostly, yes.

I did this and it won't recognise my battery
Aman Virk you might have a bad battery. I’d return and try again.
What is the glue for? Just that they won't rattle when you move the thing around?
nirfz exactly
@@robertjamespalombo7669 thanks for answering!
People - get some gloves, get the garbage off of your work surface, and get a fire extinguisher in your kitchen.

nick schmitt Stop spreading your tinfoil hat bullshit. If you believe crap like that, just give your devices to someone and move to the North Pole.
Fid Fyodor that reply is a month old. Time to come back home from the North Pole and catch up with the times
It may be 4 months later but that does sound like some tin foil hat fear xD
uuhhhm... ääähhhmm... yes....thanks... ahhh...
