I worked at Disney MGM studios in the summer of 1992 and beyond … I was a backstage studio tour guide…I was a schoolteacher and did this in the summer and holidays part time…It was one of the most interesting jobs I ever had… Back then, Disney did a lot of training for this ride because it involved memorizing about a 45 minute spiel… and at that time they expected you to be good at this before they let you out on the tram with guests…Also learning to drive a semi truck sized cab that was the lead car on the tram… I credit my training at Disney during this time for helping me improve my public speaking skills… I am now in the final years of my lifelong career in education and will be retiring before too many more years… I have used the experience I gained from working at Disney on this attraction so many times over my life as public speaking has become part of what I do in my career in education…watching this brings back so many memories!
Hi Rick! Welcome to my channel! That is such an awesome story! Did you know that guide? Is there a video anywhere of YOU doing the tour? Thanks again for that story! Would love to have you some day on one of my live streams! Email robfuz@gmail.com if interested :) - Rob
@@RobFuz Hey thanks it was so interesting finding this video and channel… I’ve vaguely recognize the guy in this video but it was so many years ago… I don’t actually have a video of me I think I have pictures somewhere I’m going to look at my picture albums… Good memories!
That's so lovely! No exaggeration, this tour changed my life. I was 7 years old in 1992 when my family went on this tour (I was able to find the right year because I remember that the costumes from Dick Tracy and The Rocketeer were on display). The behind-the-scenes peek into the costume shop is seared into my memory. From that day forward I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I never worked for Disney, but I've worked in theatre costume shops for most of my adult life. You may have been the tour guide for that formative moment in my life!
This is amazing! My Dad did the same part as you when I was little!! I always remembered it happening but not what attraction it happened at! I wish I had his on tape lol
I was today years old when I realized that Disney-MGM had a replica of "The Golden Girls" and "Empty Nest" house. I didn't go there until last year for the first time and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is sitting right where they were on Residential Street.
On our 18th birthday, me and my twin sister were volunteered to be crew mates on the boat. Funny thing is, I had earplugs on because I'm sensitive to loud pyrotechnic noises. So, I failed to dodge the torpedo coming at us!!! 🤣 Good times! 😊
You’re a star! You really tightened your hood 😂 Protect the hair! Omgosh as soon as I saw the 18 wheeler rig I knew what was going to happen. This was nice to watch and remember!
I'm glad I got to see this park when it was a studios. One thing I wanna point out though.....WHY were short sleeves in the 90s so long!! Like seriously they go past the elbow! It looks like little kids wearing adult clothes! Let's hope that never comes back in style lol
I'll never forget getting laid over in Denver. The trucking Co I worked for put me up in a motel for the night. When I got back, they were angry at me for renting a porno movie. I told them I didn't! She said well, explain why your room was billed for a movie called Dick Tracy??? I said, do you live under a rock?... This really did happen... LOL!
That is awesome! I’m loving this series of videos from 1992!! So cool that they chose you to get fake shot at !! 😂😂 How was that? Oh MGM how I miss you!!! Please continue to share these videos! - Kitty ✈️🐒

LOL! Did you get soaked?! Plus cool seeing all the props from the movies!
I DID! Good thing that rain jacket was on me (so it wasn't too bad)
Today, the park barely has anything that represents movie production. 😢

The fact that they got rid of this for Star Wars still stings me.
