  • Can It Be Cleaned? Deep Cleaning A TRASHED Toyota Highlander! Car Detailing Restoration
Thanks to Keeps for sponsoring this video! Head to keeps.com/STAUFFER to get 50% off your first Keeps order!
Today we are tackling a 2010 Toyota Highlander that has been kid trashed on the inside and the outside is covered it dirt and years of baked on contaminants from not being cleaned in over 5 years! First we need some serious pressure washing to remove the dirt along with a foam cannon car wash to loosen up any remaining dirt and grime. With the exterior detail done we will move onto the interior detailing by first removing all stuff inside the car and the seats to get full access to the carpet for some extraction.

Excellent results from the extraction sequences of those velour/cloth seats 👍! You went ahead and answered my unspoken question, always the bane of MY car-care life, about cleaning seat hardware. Please, pretty please, make a video SPECIFICALLY about cleaning said hardware. Same with having to take out/sanitize the entire carpet. Make a video!

For spots you can not get at like under that handle on the seat use your compressed air. It may make it easier with a tornador for corners but i saved a lot of time and got better results in terms of the carpet and fabric when i started doing that. Great video its great getting the Q&A included

Awesome work bud. Keep it up.
I have a similar car here in Australia, however the back seats have a cable underneath going to the back of the car which allows you to pull a lever and seats fold forward. I really struggled taking the back seats out because of that. Luckily this car didn’t have it.

I love the before and after montage! Fabulous work, as always. One question I have is: is it always okay to spray liquid cleaners near electrical components, or just certain ones? I notice you spray around cables (18:45), buttons/switches (29:47), and control panels (31:40). I would have thought that was a bad idea, but apparently it's fine, because you do it. Is it because the cleaner is specially formulated for that, or are the electrical components just not that susceptible liquid damage?
Edit: nevermind - just watched another of your videos that answered that exact question. Thanks!

Yeah the mytee u have pulls 20amps that’s the issue I was having with my house so I bought a preditor 3500 watt inverter generator from harbor freight to run the mytee also because u can’t use an extension cord with it so I figured the generator was the best option. And my steamer pulls roughly the same amperage as well so just being able to use the generator makes all that easier. I can still only run one at a time on the generator but it was still cheaper than having a new panel put in or new outlets so I’m sticking with that until I sell this house and get one with a garage or pole barn to work out of.

"You Missed A Spot" (Detailing Humor Insider 😂) Great Job & quite the channel you have there fellow DETAILER, pretty impressive!!! I've been detailing for many years and recognize the skillset, you're very thorough and I appreciate your work!!
1 thing if I may.... Please don’t take this personal in any way, but as a detailer myself we must be held accountable for best practices in our industry. I would like to challenge our industry to seek out the interest and to gain the ability to be more sustainable when cleaning/detailing vehicles. Think about it... We "CLEAN" vehicles, but most (not all) detailers aren’t really concerned with a "CLEANER" or more sustainable outcome for the Environment or Best or “Better Practices” when it comes to Cleaning/Detailing.
I love the fact that you dumped the interior waste and water into a bucket and then it went “somewhere”...and not on the floor or putting any chemicals down a drain or near plants or anything like that, which is really cool btw! 😊
Please let me explain why I have such an interest and passion for this topic. I live & Operate in Los Angeles, CA. and we are faced with some of the toughest environmental challenges, so we must think outside the box when it comes to Detailing and Cleaning vehicles in a sustainable manner when doing so in our City and/or State. We’ve made major adjustments for some of those challenges we face such as using bio-friendly chems, switching from gas to electric pressure washers, using steam instead of chemicals where applicable, and reducing our water usage for cleaning by 80%
Out of a list of many, 2 challenges stand out the most for me.
#1 “Urban Water” Usage - “Urban Water” is Water that is not used for agriculture or to support the environment is referred to as “urban water.” Urban water includes water that is used for: Drinking, Toilets and showers, Landscaping, Car washing, Businesses &, Industrial processes according to The California Department of Water Resources. (water.ca.gov/Programs/Water-Use-And-Efficiency/Urban-Water-Use-Efficiency)
Scientists reported earlier this year that the West's current megadrought is the worst in at least 1,200 years and that the human-caused climate crisis has made it 72% worse. (Source: CNN) If this is true, then we must accept responsibility and make changes that will help heal and contribute to the reversal of our previous non-sustainable practices. This should be our mission & duty if you ask me!
#2 “Sustainable Methods & Chemicals” -Safer Choice helps consumers, businesses, and purchasers find products that perform and contain ingredients that are safer for human health and the environment. Safer Choice is an EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) program, which includes practices that reduce, eliminate, or prevent pollution at its source, such as using safer ingredients in products. To learn more about this, please visit: epa.gov/saferchoice
Think about future generations like for real for real, our kids family, neighbors etc.. If we start becoming more aware of what kind of chemicals we use and, the methods in which we use them, this could very much so lead to a more sustainable environment and have a tremendous positive global impact in our industry and for generations to come… Let’s be the change & allow these topics to go viral along with those “Satisfying Detailing Videos” that we love to watch!! I could go on & on but I won’t.
These are my thoughts! Thanks for listening, please feel free to respond if you’d like… Have an awesome day, Peace!
-Noah D. (Waxplus Auto) Los Angeles, CA.

I noticed you are one of the very few that use the 25 degree nozzle tip. Is that safe for the paint?

I will add as a detailer from Russia. At the beginning, the first phase foam is applied, from the bottom up. The second phase is also washed off and applied from the bottom up. Further, clean from bitumen, and the third phase is foam with water

I can say glitter is a weapon when used properly especially in a car I've used it as revenge more times than once and it takes years to get rid of if you ever manage to

I am a bit surprised you seem to be doing this outside in a lot of sun that seems to be a bit later than you would recommend. Do you have to throw the clay away after each use?
