One of the best demos by far. What a magical pedal this is. I tried it after a Triplegraph with a fuzz pedal in the Triplegraph’s effects loop, and it was an absolute dream.
I've had a Shallow Water for a while now. It is absolutely one of my favorite pedals. Extreme settings, subtle settings, it's amazing. A beautiful pedal.
This is one heck of a helpful, inspiring, musical, and mesmerizingly beautiful sounding demo. Respect!
Man, this sounds way better than in the Knobs video
The random modulation is cool, but the LPG keeps this pedal on my board. It's basically a dynamic EQ that can add so much more expressiveness to your playing and your tone. Awesome review!
Outstanding job.
Fantastic, Ian! Knocking it out of the proverbial park once again (in a totally nostalgic and randomly pitch and wave-form modulated way, of course).
Thank You for this! ⚡️🖤⚡️
Great demo, really!
My favorite pedal. I want to think that FC’s increased presence on social media lately means they have something new coming out soon. Let me dream...
Excellent demo, really showed how beautiful this pedal can sound, way beyond gimmicky effects that are limited in the real world.
Great video ... thanks!
Great playing!!!! Love this demo, man!
Thanks so much!
LOVE this thing. It's amazing on guitar. It's INCREDIBLE on synths - really interacts with the dynamics of the attack/decay of keys. Another demo (I think it was PedalZone) said this wasn't a pedal it was a Time Machine! Which, I totally agree. My favorite sound is how it takes a signal and organically makes it sound degraded and aged (like you do toward the middle of your demo). Great demo!
gorgeous
the greatest pedal ever
So nice! You really captured the magic of the Shallow Water!
Phenomenal demo. I bought one because of this video.
About to do the same haha
"It's just a brief smile crossing your face"
Great reference to a great song, and a great demo of a great pedal!
Love your demos, your playing is always inspiring to me, and makes me feel a lot of things. That's what music is all about to me!
Thank you for your awesome demos, the inspiration and the visuals :)
Cheers from France, stay safe out there
I love some Elliot Smith ;)
Elliott Smith is one of my absolute favorites! I figured using him for the quote fit the lofi feel. And really glad you enjoy the demos, it truly means a lot! Hope you are staying safe too ♥️
Amazing demo! Fully represents the versatility that I fell in love with. My Shallow Water will never leave my board. Currently pondering Randy’s Revenge. Maybe you can do a demo of that to help tip the scale for me ;)
This is the best pedal ever. It will constantly breathe life into your board. It makes any instrument I plug into it dance with a vibrancy that I could not before bring to it. I was contemplating selling it recently because I thought we had fallen out of love. However, it was the LPG knob set screw was loose, so the pot wasn't turning like I thought it was. We are back into our Everlasting Honeymoon. Because this pedal is sweet like honey. So is this fukn channel btw. It sold me on the smallsound/bigsound mini, and then I see this video and it makes go "wait, why don't I like my Shallow Water anymore?" STUPID SET SCREW!! I love you Shallow Water!
Thanks so much homie! I'm really glad people are into the demos. This is definitely a favorite of mine, I shouldn't have waited so long to get one. I gotta try pairing it with the Mini
@@collectoremitter Oh shit! You're the one that sold me on the Mini. Let me tell you: the mini pairs with the Shallow Water like Bourbon and Dark Chocolate. I also like drive after the Shallow Water as a "busted tape machine" sound. And the mini does many flavors of this with its bias control. Oh. . . Mini. . . how I love thee. . .
Just listening to this video like I would a song. It is so nice
Thanks so much!
excellent, man.
Thank you dude! This pedal is a goldmine for ideas
That phase-like sound. Wicked. Great demo. Had one of these a couple years ago, I think I’ll get another. Thanks (or, not thanks as I’m out $400 now!)
Haha, well enjoy! This really is a versatile pedal, so it will work out for you well
Good lord!! That pedal sounds sweet. There are so many diverse sounds within it and you really mine them beautifully. Love your vibe of playing. Those rich open chords. Are you in an alternate tuning? I'm blown away by this demo.
Thanks so much man! Yeah, I'm playing in EAEABE, which I feel like is standard tuning but with the ability to ring out most chords with that open tuning sound. I love it
great video! any thoughts on where this might work best on a pedalboard? i planned on putting it right with my other modulation pedals after my compressor, but i’m interested to hear other opinions
One day, I will have the money to buy it ! Definitely one of my favorite pedal of all time, but it's sadly really expensive
A beautiful demonstration of this pedal! :) Did you also notice some high-pitched (background) whine on yours? I am not talking about the noise when the LPG opens and you can hear the very less noise the BBD chip produces...
That sounds like you might not be giving it enough power. I’ve never had it with Shallow Water, but a high pitched whine usually means a pedal is getting too little current. Hopefully that helps!
Thanks this is probably one of ou favorite pedals, I find it hard not to include it in my effect chain but I've always struggled with low damp settings. I think this might help a lot.
Great sounds though
Peace
Hope you found some settings that work for you! There's a lot to adjust here so it can be daunting, but it really can be a simple pedal
Has anyone tried this and compared it with the Cooper Generation Loss? How would you qualify the differences? The Cooper generation loss seems to allow for more flexibility regarding the filters cutting parts of the harmonic spectrum in and out…? But I’ve never tried either so please correct this comment if possible.
Feel sorry for that paraglider. Will he ever get down or just continue to swirl and swirl forever and ever and ever?
I went to my local pedal shop and ordered this the other day, but didn't leave empty handed as I got a secondhand El Capistan for a really good price. I think these two will be good friends and playing well together but probably also fight for my attention to, like: "why don't you turn my knobs now, you turned her knobs more than mine".
They're stuck in the random limbo of the Shallow Water 😜 This and El Cap will probably make a perfect pair!
@@collectoremitter Ii was thinking it was only one paraglider but of course it's an endless amount of paragliders, or at least as many as you want : )
Put on some ambient rain sounds in the background while listening to this. You will drown in euphoria.
Ooo hell yeah that was a good call.
What settings (the jumpers in side the pedal) did you have for that boost sound?
It's about time someone made THE definitive demo on this GOAT contender. `So many magical beans in that lil' box. Out of curiosity: where did you like it most in the chain? pre/post dirt? standard chorus/vibrato spot or late in chain? I've been rocking the MOOD > SW > Dirt, late in chain--as suggested by some friends on r/guitarpedals. -u/winstonsmith8236
I have yet to add this to one of my boards because band practice is obv not happening for a while, but I will probably put it either at the very end of everything or at the very beginning. I've got a lot to explore with that aspect of it!
I had a somersault and liked it but sold it for a lofi junky. I ended up realizing that the lofi just wasn't the sound I was looking for. I could buy another somersault or the shallow water. I play a chill jazz hop style and am mostly use clean amps. Which do you think would suit me?
P.S. I'm also going to build the newly available clone of the walrus julia
Here come the views!
Excellent demo as always!
Thanks man! Yeah, this demo really blew up more than I expected
Can someone help me understand the difference between LPG and an envelope filter pedal set to low pass?
LPG is basically an envelope filter that also controls volume. With guitar, it's kinda like a more subtle/sensitive envelope filter
Great demo. Bought mine based on this. But mine whines at me. A high pitch drone. Help!
Reach out to Fairfield! They're super helpful. But most likely it's not getting enough current (mA) from your power supply
@@collectoremitter i did. It was the power supply. I bought cheap! D'oh
Shallow waters and Maud are very cool
Be sure and checkout Alexader pedals Super Neo-Matic Delay Modulator
There are a couple of trolls on acid inside it
Absolutely astonishing, it’s alive !!
I love the Super Neo-Matic! Check out my demo of it, I found a really cool weird delay sound using the random modulation
"Shes pleased to meet you underneath the horse, in the cathedral with the glass stained black... "
Singing sweet high notes that echo back. I thought that quote fit the lofi feel of the pedal!
@@collectoremitter I totally agree!
I’m scared, why are we counting down ?!?!?
It was a UA-cam instant premiere, so they count down to it going “live”. Now it’s just up as normal!
collector//emitter collector//emitter oh haha i thought we were getting a shallow water v2 or something. Great vid tho. It’s one of my favorite things on my board. Especially with some reverb and delay 🤍🦦
Lately I have been thinking I should just sell my generation loss and buy some cool pedals like this. But I am playing on a 50$ guitar that is 50% broken with no amp/sim. That should probably take precedence. I want to take music way more seriously, I am just so very broke...
Well, maybe coll//em is proof that you do need the best gear t- and he is playing a relevator through a rootbeer...
Humiliating jokes aside, this was amazing, as always. Took some of the bite away from my anxiety, thank you very much!
Well first of all, Gen Loss is an amazing pedal as well! I love both for different reasons. But also, if you check out my early demos (like my Gen Loss demo) I was playing a beaten up guitar and amp. Sure, nice gear helps, but you can get amazing tones out of anything 😄
depth is too high
