An amazing day kayak fishing on Lake Erie unfolded as I started off at 7:00 am in the morning searching for whatever would bite the lure. I launched out of Rocky River, Ohio and soon I was jigging up yellow perch, walleye, freshwater drum (sheephead) and white bass with the Rapala Jigging Rap, Cabelas Mean Eye Blade, and Thundermist Stingnose spoon. The action persisted throughout the day as the fish moved offshore from 20ft to 30ft mid day. The Vibe Shearwater 125 kayak performed flawlessly with the Bixpy Jet electric motor on the back. Thanks as always for joining me!

Awesome day of fishing! Those sheepsheads will wear out your arms in a few hours. I fish Lake Erie over toward Maumee Bay and there are many fish Ohio sheepshead out there. I just bought some VCM Double hooks (9908 BZ) and hope these solve the tangling issue with the Cabela's Mean Eye blade baits. O-rings & treble hooks on a blade bait are normally trouble. I love the Thundermist Stingnose spoons. They catch everything. Just bought some Rapala Jigging Raps and Moonshine Shiver Minnows. I just wish we could keep the boat steady to fish them. Happy fishing!

I live in Toledo, and plan on kayak fishing for perch on the bay around Cullen park quite a bit, any recommendations or tips?

@@joekerUli Pretty soon the steelhead will be biting out near the Edison Power plant near Bayshore. There is a boat ramp nearby. The warm water discharge attracts them to that. In April, walleye will be all over the bay area. It's great for jigging in the spring.

@@JamesBondDZero7Mi6 I’ll definitely be out jogging for walleye, I typically partake in the walleye run, and have been out plenty of times with my dad in his 14ft smokercraft aluminum boat jogging for walleye and perch, I was more or less asking about specifically a kayak, because I know around the islands can get pretty busy with traffic around holiday weekends and such, so just curious what to look out for from a kayak’s perspective.

@@joekerUli Sorry Joe. I'm not into kayaks so I know nothing about them. I see lots of them out near Crane Creek while jigging for walleye though. Now you know another good spot.
