Nice speech! Here in the state of Queensland, Australia the mining companies have been pushing back against the Qld Labor Govt receiving higher royalties as the selling price of coal has increased substantially. Yet, the community who receives the benefit of this, it is our sons and daughters who will be expected to risk and lose their lives to defend these same coal mines in the event of war in this part of the world. It is only fair that we receive a substantial share of mining royalties. And why should a nation's or even the world's resources and wealth be in the hands of a few? It is not a crime to have more than enough, but let's make sure that everyone has enough.
Zarah please consider running for leader, if the chance arises. And it's something you think you could handle. I can't vote for Labour under Kier Starmer. I would be a hypocrite after calling the tories out for their lying. Just to go and vote for another liar. Go girl! 👏💪👍

What about a National Legal Service? If I need the protection of the law why should I be denied it on the basis of cost? Access to the law is an even more fundamental right than acess to health care.

Owners, govt and unions sought to that; The figures from the 1920s show that mining was in a death spiral; Nationalisation was a crude welfare scheme that didn't work and tied old industrial areas to a dying sector that could be replicated elsewhere - for less; Labour shut mines - more than the Tories; Thatcher had to stop sections of the workforce having a trump card on all public policy - if that meant shutting down the industrial museums - so be it; The errors made in mining now exist in the public sector unions - when the reaction comes, the whiney, conspiratorial and Machiavellian left, will blame only the govt in office - not the trump cards that the wider left has. This is a picture of a century of insidious, tribal, destructive and conspiratorial thinking that the left will just repeat and when the current repeat is beaten - it'll just re-emerge elsewhere. You simply cannot reason with a collection of selfish sociopaths who go around lecturing us all on solidarity and fairness.
