However, the last 12 years has seen things get noticeably worse as the Tories have taken the neo Liberal agenda as far as it can go. The market was supposed to magically take care of us by market forces making utilities cheap and efficient but that's simply not true. Our seas and rivers have got poop being pumped into them at an alarming rate because of weak regulation and cuts actually made by Truss. Then their is the energy crisis which wouldn't bite so bad if we had nationalised utilities like France does. The Tories are deliberately underfunding the NHS so it's on the brink of collapse and the solution that will be offered is privatisation. Privatisation in water and energy has only served served wealthy CEOs and shareholders. Privatisation of the NHS would put big money into the hands of health insurance companies and Tory party members who hook them up. Our social housing is non existent and is left for private landlords to profiteer. As far as I know its only the Tory party that is profiteering from the status quo. Things have changed for the worse over the last 12 years. It was a given that the next generation was supposed to have it better. They don't anymore. @@therealkindle5365 I have some sympathy to where you are coming from since I held that belief too. However, the last 12 years has seen things get noticeably worse as the Tories have taken the neo Liberal agenda as far as it can go. The market was supposed to magically take care of us by market forces making utilities cheap and efficient but that's simply not true. Our seas and rivers have got poop being pumped into them at an alarming rate because of weak regulation and cuts actually made by Truss. Then their is the energy crisis which wouldn't bite so bad if we had nationalised utilities like France does. The Tories are deliberately underfunding the NHS so it's on the brink of collapse and the solution that will be offered is privatisation. Privatisation in water and energy has only served served wealthy CEOs and shareholders. Privatisation of the NHS would put big money into the hands of health insurance companies and Tory party members who hook them up. Our social housing is non existent and is left for private landlords to profiteer. As far as I know its only the Tory party that is profiteering from the status quo.
Things have changed for the worse over the last 12 years. It was a given that the next generation was supposed to have it better. They don't anymore. Then add Brexit on to the skip fire too and you can see how this government has failed at every opportunity to serve the public because its only being servicing its wealthy backers.
You seem to be suggesting that Labour are just as bad or exist in the same narrow scope of what we call democracy in Western countries therefore meaningful change can't be made.
I have some sympathy for that view but once you've been exposed to what the Tories have done and its touched you personally the difference seems a lot bigger. Labour are not perfect and they are not as left wing as I would like them to be but they will do more for regular people than the Tories. I'm guessing no Tory policies have harmed you since you may have a semi privileged position.
Edited to add: you are right that perpetual growth is impossible with finite resources and there needs to be a radical change there.

There is no such thing as Democracy when either choice pits everyone against each other. If I told you to eat one of only TWO meals every day for the rest of your life.. you get to vote, but that is NOT freedom of choice.

It’s why the mainstream want to divide us and make us argue amongst ourselves because mass protest, mass unity is the biggest threat to those in power. Strikes are always reported as “causing misery” That’s half true, they also harm profits as the workers ARE the wealth generators. French workers already understand and use this leverage much better than us Brits.

I can only assume that Starmer believes that Labour will garner more votes in a General Election if they distance themselves from the strikers and campaigns such as 'Enough is Enough' rather than giving direct support. But the mood of the people has shifted in recent months. So many people hurting now because of the cost of living crisis. I think he's underestimating just how many people really have had enough and want to see change.
