A timeless song that surpasses all ages. We need to start listening to the country 🎵 music when country music was true country music. Not what they call county today.
Jamie Anthony YOU ARE exactly right look at Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash they were in prison and Ronald Reagan pardoned Merle when he was the governor of California I don't know if Paycheck has even been to prison but I'm going to find lol!!!!
Thanks for publishing the ORIGINAL studio recording, NOT a re-recording. This came out 1982/1983. I know because it was my senior year in HS. GREAT SONG!!!
Paycheck is one of my favorites. He lived what he sang about. I have always been drawn to the real outlaw singers who lived what they sang. The shoes of Paycheck,Haggard,Williams Jr,Jennings,Jones,Nelson, and Cash will never be filled
My dad is under hospice care right now, and they say he probably only has days to go. He always used to sing and play this on the guitar, so I'm listening to it now in his honor. Love you, Dad. My heart is so broken. =(
+mastersgirl414 My heart goes out to you and your family. The holidays will be hard for you this year. Just try to remember that love never dies. As long as you carry your Dad in your heart he lives on thru you. I have lost two sons and a Grandmother and uncle in the past few years... I can't say it gets easier, but Faith, friends and family help me to keep going. God bless you.
I grew up in the good old country music day.the first time I heard this song, it has stuck with me my whole life. There's a reason I can relate to this,I just haven't figured it out yet.but I LOVE AND MISS ALL the ole country music, I grew up on!!!
Pops Moreno that's what makes country music great listen to that gangster rap!!! I wouldn't listen to that shit if I was stranded on a desert island !!!! Peace
My Grandpap told me something like this when he was dying of lung cancer. He said he was like an old piano, he just about played his last tune, been 26 years ago and still hear it plain as day.
In a way of hurting my husband but I want him to play that for me before I'm cremated. If I had to pick a song that is my best song ever. You go Johnny Paycheck
Sadly Johnny Paycheck had a very troubled life and a very abrupt end to his career with terrible health problems due to manifested by the way he indulged in life but what a gifted artist he was. He had some fantastic songs in his career. My favourite though would have to be "I Did The Right Thing". What a powerful song this was and sung with such emotion but JP always sang that way. I was amazed to be looking at Wikipedia and this song was never mentioned. This song hits home to me because from a marriage and three girls, now forty years past, ashamed to say I didn't do the right thing and I have suffered the consequences ever since especially with an estranged relationship with my children which near kills me every day. I am further amazed that JP hasn't been inducted into the country hall of fame as there are many in there far less entitled than he. Johnny Cash is my country music hero but by crikey JP isn't that far off.
Every Saturday night at 900 O'Clock sharp this song can be heard on Classic Country juke box out Dublin Ga been listing to I since the early 90s .Don't come down South Ga an turn the Dial off of 95.9 cause might store up an ole hornet's nest.
Charlotte Miller ,my name is steve Love this man donny young.johnonny paycheck .if there a song to be sung when i die i hope its ,the old voloin ,03 08 1953, singing off s.l.miller baton rouge la.0603 2018
They is 2 karaoke bars where i go to an im the only person to ever git up an sing this song an the one bar is full of high maintenance gals an they look at me an say what the hell are you singin an i tell em at right there is true country music an these days a lot of people thanks country music got started in Nashville an i look at em an say this is Bristol Tennessee an country music got started here
it's so sad the trash Nashville calls music these days. i miss the old acts and the traditionalists. i quit listening to country music because of the crap being put out these days.
Nashville is trying to do away with country music by making it like soft rock and pop music. They are using snap tracks on most of the music these days. True country artist need to do as Buck Owen's when they came up with the Bakersfield sound.
Just wait it's coming, the country has turned a corner, and the comoun sense way of thinking has taken hold. country music will follow the people and the people will fight for this country.
I hate to say, but when I lay my dad to rest whenever he passes, he will be put away with this song Playing. Hes always loved this song and felt connected to it
Now it's the holidays and it's been very hard....all I do is set around and think about all the good times we have and cry....now I want to go home to see him and not hurt again
this fucken song will jerk the tears from the inner soul, sing it johnny, fuck yea.
A timeless song that surpasses all ages. We need to start listening to the country 🎵 music when country music was true country music. Not what they call county today.
One of the most underrated country singers ever. His outlaw ways turned people away from him. What a shame. One of the best of all time in my opinion
Jamie Anthony I would have to agree he may not have showed it but can tell he had a hell of a heart
Jamie Anthony YOU ARE exactly right look at Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash they were in prison and Ronald Reagan pardoned Merle when he was the governor of California I don't know if Paycheck has even been to prison but I'm going to find lol!!!!
everyone has their good and bad points. In the end Paycheck's good ones outnumbered the bad. R.I.P.
Yes he was
Johnny Cash was in jail

Old Paycheck is definitely one the greats!
My dad is under hospice care right now, and they say he probably only has days to go. He always used to sing and play this on the guitar, so I'm listening to it now in his honor. Love you, Dad. My heart is so broken. =(

Now that I'm older, I GET IT!
Now THIS is the original studio recording, not a re-recording! Released sometime 1982-1983 - I know as I was a HS senior. Just a great, great song!
This is better than the others in my opinion, this is the first one I ever heard
Yes! And this is the only place you can hear it anymore. So much more heartfelt than the “precious memories” version.
Download with a UA-cam to mp3 converter, before it gets taken down for some dumb reason. So it's not lost forever. ;)
Good enough to make a grown man cry .
Absolutely beautiful song, always sends chills down my spine
a classic, i wish they still made real country music these days..
When he says and there I saw you can tell that came straight from his soul
True emotions...I love music like this!
Pops Moreno that's what makes country music great listen to that gangster rap!!! I wouldn't listen to that shit if I was stranded on a desert island !!!! Peace
