- I can not bring myself to finish the video part of the song. My wife succumbed to cancer 11 months ago on April 8, 2015. I see myself as the man sitting on the porch and hearing her telling me to get off my butt.
Always loved this song. Listening to it tonight. He passed away yesterday.
I am so touched by the news of his passing.RIP Jo el Sonnier, so underrated as a musician , one of my all time favorites. I collected many of his CD’s over the years and to this day still listen to his music. My deepest condolences to his family. He will definitely be missed. I will be buying his new album when it comes out.😢
RIP Jo-el. He passed last night after performing his last song “Tear Stained Letter” and receiving a standing ovation in Texas. After leaving the stage he had a massive heart attack. 1/13/24. You will be missed Jo-el.
that's breaks my heart to read this. God Bless him!
Breaks my heart....his music plays on my phone as he was a friend of my dad's and I feel better hearing his music 🎶
Oh no! That's awful. He wasn't very old was he?
I had to hear this song today. Rest in peace, Jo-El. ❤😢
R.I P. Joe. We will always love & appreciate you & your legacy .💔
Think how much of people would relax just listening to this kind of music ❤
Rest in peace, you were an extraordinary musician, one that could only be admired. You won't be forgotten, old buddy. ❤
I’d forgotten how good this guy was and how I bought a few of his CD’s back in the 90’s. Amazed he wasn’t a bigger star in the States because let’s face it, as we British say “He’s bloody good!”
Joe lived the words of his music. He lived the good life that south Louisiana can bring a man. Joe loved to crab and cook as well as play and sing. Almost every day during the Covid 19 shut down, Joe took his squeeze box out in the driveway of his home and sang us a song live streamed on Facebook. He truly was a blessing to everyone.
Absolutely love this song
Wow!! As a Californian I can take pride in the Doors and Beach Boys. As I listen to THIS music, I can WISH I was Cajun and take pride in this music!!
I been listening to his music constantly since he passed. Breaks my heart. The world lost a great person. Heaven is singing loud right now.❤❤❤❤
I learned to play this for my oldest sister, she loved this song and wanted me to learn to play and sing it..we sat in the floor of her appartment in Ennis Texas for 4 hours one nite, listening to it over and over till I got it down....SHe passed away in 2006, and every time I hear this song I think of her and vise versa...
RIP Jo-El.
one of the greatest Cajun love songs, ever. thanks.
maybe I don'nt understand it al byt. it sure can feel I
Written after his wife's death.
I will treasure the autograph he gave me on a bandana, different and personal. Much love.
May you rest in eternal peace Jo’el.. & thank you for blessing us with your beautiful music
Glad you won a Grammy for "The Legacy"..Jo-el ,you have devoted your life to your music and we are thankful for all that you have given!
I met him, the band, and his wife while on a cruise with my father, just before my dad died. They were the most gracious people, and what a good reflection of the Cajun music of Louisiana. I couldn't of had a better experience.... Jim from Baton Rouge.

One of the best songs - ever. Soulful, pensive, thoughtful, emotional.

While loved most all Jo-El songs this is my favorite ...
Not hardcore Cajun but man what a beautiful painting of gulf coast life and struggles. One of my favorites since i was a farm boy 30 years ago
Perfect song to waltz across a barroom floor covered with sawdust with a few drinks already coursing through my bloodstream, and a honky tonk angel, holding her tight, as she sings in my ear "🎶Come ON Jeb..."🎶
what a classic! remember sitting on my porch half lit with my hound dog beside me.Just good ole laid back cajun music. Just my style. thanks jo-el sonnier
my late husband played guitar as a carnie and then some 50 years. when i married him i would come home and hear this song playing and him singing and he was not playing guitar although i loved it also and could play ALL of it on harmonica which i learned trying to stop smoking. and he was sick with chrones and died. but this was one of the songs i picked up to get him to use his arms when he lost 80 pounds in 3 months. anyway. it is always wonderful to me. i love cajun. i have canadian in me. thank you for posting. love CB
Love it
thanks connie for remembering him...I have memories of mine that I have lost, you never get over them, but thats ok. Love them
My older sister died from chrohns disease. People don't know how bad the suffering can be also for their families.

I love this, especially, because of Bo's love for his wife. It's a saying we have around here too, when things get tough, "COME ON JOE!".

What a beautiful song Nikki Collins
You are an amazing brother ....may your sister rest in peace,God Bless!!!Beautiful song.
This is one of my favorite songs since I was a kid. Thanks!!
my favorite jo el sonier. when this came out, i was calling the radio station almost every hour asking them to play it.
Thanks for this.
We went to my wife's sister and her husband's cottage in Cajun Country near Digby, and he liked the song so much, playing it on his boom box on the deck, blasting at full volume across Lac d'clair inside Metaghan, the lake like a mirror in the evening. that I left the CD with him. I never did replace it, but I know it got lots of play. Those days can never be reclaimed, but they'll never be forgotten either. Rest in peace brother.
Glad I could leave you with something. I don't consider this my favorite song but rather an extension of myself. It touches just that deep, beyond favorites. There is no place like home is there? Wouldn't trade Louisiana for anything in the world
I love your comment,I can picture the place that you wrote about.

So sorry for your loss. You will see her again and she will be healthy and whole. God sees your pain but He knows you will see your precious love again. May God comfort and bless you.
I found this great cd at amazon ,It was in a music shop in England .
One of my all time favorite songs.
Just plain Great!
Thx for posting haven't heard that for years , sure don't come across honest music like that no more these days .
just shut your eyes and visualize the heart and soul of this cut
Cool! I have looked for this tune in the past, and I appreciate your posting it. My husband and I worked for LSU for four years, and of all the places I have ever lived, south Louisiana is my favorite. We're settled back in Texas for good now, but I will always love the people, the food, the music, the Mardi Gras of that very special part of the world.
I WAS BORN WITH THIS SONG PLAYING IN THE OPERATING ROOM
Jo-el did live in Bogalusa, La. Before his wife at the time passed away.
Yes he did. His wife at the time and my mom was best friends. I loved miss Jaime so much.
Thanks for this. I see myself on the front porch. Love the presentation.
Thank you, Frank. This song means the world to me. I'm glad you found your way here

Thanks for your comments Byron. I must confess, the only Rays I'd heard of were the guys who recorded Sihouettes, way back. The version I heard and recorded was on Joe Fish's excellent 2 hours a week,Friday night country show,on Piccadilly radio,Manchester,England. I only heard it once!
+graham bull .... Hi Graham , it was on Joe's show that I heard The Rays version over 25 years ago, I had it recorded but it vanished over the years. It was played on Radio Lancashire about 10 years ago but I missed recording that one .......
Man, That is just too damn good.
Oh, too bad have loved his songs since he came oon the scene many years ago
Cool song! Great melody!
I know the feeling! Thank you for coming!
I love Joel and most all of his music. thanks for posting this. I can't find it on Spotify!!
I cannot even count how many times I sat in my room listening and listening to this over and over again. And you can't find a decent posting, I tried for years on LimeW too. Thanks for doing this. Happy life to you......
Same here - I am ripping all my LP's to mp3's and ran across this one!!
just for the hell of it - i seem to know a bit - just my opinion, but i believe this particular song is one of the best ever done. if you listen, you will begin to feel - involved. somewhat a rarity. wish you all well
One of my all time favorite .......
Hard to find this version of this great song anywhere. Such emotion. And Bo … So sorry for your loss, and I hope you’re doing well.
