- This is a common problem with a lot of women. Being short waisted, can mean that the shoulders are dresses and tops is too high. This video shows how I pin the garment, unpick, mark and resew, then put back together.
The finished blouse looked nice on the lady... especially the better fit and the white lace suited her.
Thanks for doing these videos.I learn something from each video. Thanks so much!
Hi Dawn, I love doing them. Passing on my knowledge means a lot to me. Thank you for watching. Judith

Hi
It would be useful if you talk us through the alterations. The red print subtitles are difficult to read.
Thanks anyway
Hi Capricorn. Thank you for the comment and I will endeavor to do the voice overs when possible.
Most things don't fit me right. I get by, resorting to tees, because they stretch. I can dress them up or down. Maybe I can try re doing something to fit.
Could you have put darts to bring armsholes in smaller and keep length of top??
I felt that it was the shoulders that needed raising. And the client wanted it to be higher at the neck. So that worked better for her
This is great. My lace dress needs this alteration, but it has sleeves. Is there a video addressing this?
Hi. If your dress has sleeves, all you need to do is unpick the sleeves, take up the shoulders and reset the sleeves. Remember to label each sleeve. I cut out some fabric and write RIGHT and LEFT and use a safety pin to secure to the sleeve. This way you can unpick to your hearts content. Shorten the shoulder and when ready put the correct sleeve back in. The sides of a sleeve are the place to ease, although if you want you can use a small gathering stitch and give a small gather at the top of the sleeve. Or you can just take the sleeve in at the underarm. The reason I say this is because the armhole will be smaller. I am sure there is a video there somewhere on this. Else I will put it on my list of videos to do.
Exactlyn Judith my thoughts too
