i see some interface changes since then. Also you might want to tell people how you're doing things like camera rotation around an object.

Can you design on a diametric surface as a flat surface and then wrap it back into a cylinder?

Hm, i want to create my first object and already fail on defining the axis. I want to 3d print, so Z axis needs to be top. But there does not seem to be an option to define which axis is what??? So what do I do? Let Y be top and hope the splicer fixes it, or work with atom3d telling me incorrect top/bottom/left/right etc? Seems strange that it does not allow to adjust this. Or is atom3d not suited for 3d printing?

All slicers allow you to rotate the parts you bring in after you import them. It doesn't really matter what orientation you use to design a part - it can and often will be reoriented in your slicer software later.

As always, I try to follow along and within 2 minutes the features you have don't match my app. Done, right there. I don't have Part Modeling.

Only if you want to live in an imaginary world. There are no infinitely thin objects in the real world.

Just a warning: The "Atom 3D for hobbyists" is not exactly the tool which is widely shown in numerous videos on UA-cam. Some tools, options and capabilities are missing in it, and only available in much more pricey "Professional" version. There is really no table which clearly articulates the features side-by-side. And finally, they have many bugs that they fix and release a new version twice a year approximately. So what you buy is good for max 6 months, unless you purchase the maintenance - which is really the way to hide the actual cost of ownership. The tool looks nice on the video, but reality is different...

This Software uses an obsolete last-generation concept of 2D-sketching and extruding. In IronCad you just drag and drop 3D-objects. In this example drag and drop a cylinder. Alt-Click - Enter dimensions for diameter and height. Then you drag a cuboid and use the automatic catch-function center and drop it on the upper circle of the cylinder when catch-center is shown. Alt-Click on the cubiod enter dimensions and you are done. This takes just 10 mouse-clicks and 30 seconds.

      Hello Billy,
The concept you describe is called using Primitives. Alibre's workflow follows Solidworks and Autocad Inventor. Last I checked they still do not model that way.

Neither is right or wrong, just a different method to design with.

Billy, im not sure you understand. This is $199 for a perceptual license. I am not sure why everyone does not use this. Its amazing. More than enough for most.
