Hi, Great video series. What is the best way to model a cone with a similar pattern using Atom? I'm fairly new to Alibre and still trying to wrap my head around the best way to model things. I tried extruding a cone and then using a grid, but can't figure out how to get a grid to pattern on to a tapered round surface. Then, after watching this, I thought maybe I should wrap a flat patterned surface.

Hi, fairly new to Alibre. Not sure why, but my lines don't change colors even though I have every aspect of an element defined. I literally followed along above and my line never changes from red. Any ideas on what setting may have been changed?

Is there a video that starts at square 1? in other words, the intent and purpose for using PDM (especially for a single user) as opposed to the windows file system or the cad tools own versioning. I am a creo parametric user wishing to add functionality that I suspect can be found using PDM...

The title wasn't clickbait at all. The design explorer was packed with operations, it is an excellent demo of what Alibre can do for design and tableware. A master class for sure.

Fully assembled and accurately designed steam locomotive. Thought I was the only one!! Does the hobby version give you enough assemblies to design a full locomotive? I think the free version of fusion only gives you 10 parts in an assembly

How to select underlying lines? Like the line at the back of the sketch plane. I can only select lines on the topmost.

Can users change sketch color? So its not Red. Coming from SolidWorks and Onshape that's a Big annoying No No.

Giving the free trial a go in 2 days I'm leaps and bounds ahead of where I was in freecad still trying to constrain a drawings properly. I'm sold on alibre and will be purchasing the software

Thanks for the video, any serious plans to integrate advanced surface modelling? I'm considering the Expert license but no surfaces is a no go for me. Converting solids to surfaces won't work for me?

I never thought that would I would upgrade to pro. But i just enjoy Alibre so much as a hobbyist that when a black Friday deal came along I just had to have it. learning can be frustrating now I am 77 years old but it keeps me alive & I have been working on several projects. One that required files to be forwarded to a fabricator for construction of my replacement launch trailer complete with all dims. He gave it to one of his apprentices as a training project to build & it all worked fine. He reduced the cost considerably as a result. The difference paid for Alibre

nice explain, there is one problem I possible need your help, in your video, your previous sketch will still show up as reference during your new sketch drawing, but at my side, it seems only the current sketch will show up, do you know how to enable the view so that i can see old sketches during the new sketch drawing?

Is it possible to make it so that the grid dynamically adjusts as you zoom in and out?

Ugh, frustrating. The constraints etc are not explained and I can't actaully follow and try to do these examples at all since they fail.

My company intend to migrate from Inventor to this Alibre Design Expert... but, after a month trial, i still not found any solution to this: In Inventor, the workflow i use is using Derived feature to derived a solid body from other part as a boolean cut (Subtract join in Inventor). Does anyone know how to insert ( as in Solidworks) or derived (as in Inventor) a solid body from another part file?

Love the video, but it stinks most of these features are free with hobby license of other companies. As a hobbiest, I almost pulled the trigger on atom, but without basic things like drafts, it wouldn't meet my needs. I don't make money with my work, so $1000 is a bit steep for features I have with F360.

Key shot is a billed yearly application. Alibre is a one time purchase. How does having Keyshot work? Is it one and done, or will I still need to pay for Keyshot every year?

Alibre - After using Autodesk 123Design for a number of years I recently decided that I needed to move to a new CAD program. The two main reasons was 123Design tended to crash alot when extruding a sketch, and the second being that it did not have a history tree so it was impossible to go back and edit your designs. I first tried Fusion 360 and didn't like it, and didnt want to use a subscription based software. Then I came across Alibre and ended up buying Alibre Atom 3D which I have been overall happy with. I have only been using it about a month now. The only thing I don't like is that most of the tutorials or videos on UA-cam are with people using Design Expert version of the software, and some of the videos & tutorials are older versions of the software. I just wish some videos of Alibre Atom 3D were available for beginners upto more complicated steps. As I do alot of 3D Printing and wanting to get a 3D scanner I need to improve my CAD design skills.

I'm trying to do lofting 0:50 but my object is not visible and dissappear when menu start to pop up 0:60 how do I make see my object when I'm lofting?

ok you have 3 rectangle type but how do I able this on my alibre atom I only have default rectangle and cant find those two rectangle you mention

This is not bad but the runout on the flutes is made with a milling cutter/grinding wheel, on a quarter inch drill, it looks like about 3/4 inch diameter, how would you do that?

I have actually turned down some small contracts because I had to do rotative edits to SW parts and export in step. I did'nt know how to do this and I thought the contract was not worth the time to re-design those features. This is an absolute game changer for people working in multi CAD teams or freelancing and wanting to make changes to existing files, step or otherwise

Alibre customer service. That's the first thing he mentioned that sold him. And I agree! Alibre excels in that area for sure, and I hope it always stays that way.
