Great video. Again I learned something.

You cover a lot of information in your PDM videos. However, you missed a step in this video, or skipped over it. When you create the folders for the Radial project you only show the model already open. How did you get the model since Alibre is now linked to the PDM safe? How about showing how to get files open from the Windows file system so you can save them to the PDM safe?

Still struggling to get it to do a basic part. I'll return your 10mm socket for some help!

I do not know if this has been ever covered somewhere. How do I get the point, where an part-edge is touching (or breaking through) a plane? I need to stick a line onto that edge, but I need the exact point, there this edge crosses the sketch-plane. Sorry for my bad language. Think of it as a cut with the sketch-plane, and grab the cutted end of that edge. If that edge is angled to the sketch, I can nor projekt it, because I get a line, not knowing the exact point where it is crossing the sketch-plane.

I think I will eventually get Alibre. Is it possible to export as Collada? I tend to render images of my products in Lightwave3D as I've used it for more than 20 years.

Bought ATOM3D which is the hobby/entry edition. I'd say after trying multiple 3D CAD (VariCAD in Linux, FreeCAD, Fusion360, OnShape, Plasticity, Shapr3D), Atom3D actually speeded up my learning with *simplified* UI. I came back to VariCAD and I know what I need to look among tons of icons/buttons in complicated UI now.

As a hobbyist I’m trying to figure out how this helps me.

It seems that it would be more streamlined for copies of "shelved files" should be stored temporarily in the safe so that it eliminates clunky manual copying of shelved files from computer to computer, computers that already both have visibility to the PDM server online! The manual file method is understandable though if one machine is offline and cannot see the PDM server.

How do I edit a sketch pattern without deleting everything? Related: If the sketch element that I'm using to create a pattern is fully constrained, why aren't the newly created elements constrained at all? I shouldn't have to go through and dimension and constrain everything manually - the pattern tool just becomes a slightly fancy copy+paste function, leaving a lot of work for me.

How is that metadata backed up? If I ”Format C:” my computer and re-install Alibre+PDM Server, is those my projects still there as same way those was earlier?

This is actually a pretty powerful tool. Predetermined folder structure is a major issue when collaborating with multiple people. P.S. If you're watching this video, Google the people Joseph is using here as "Designers". All of these guys' Wikipedia pages make for excellent reads. From star-studded Hollywood glamour and breakneck speed, to thrilling court battles, to discrimination against women and the triumph over it. Except for Antonio Meucci and Elisha Grey. Those two guys just phoned it in... But read on them anyway.

This is probably the main reason that everyone is going to be using the PDM server for. File versioning. But I do have a question. How does this affect disk space usage? Does every version occupy the same space on the disk as a standalone file?

How is the backup data stored? What if I need to store every Friday in a year. All projects are around 80gb. How the space would be used?

4:28 Can you not just drag and drop to the new folder. That move operation seemed very long winded! and what's with the dialog positions when you step through a move process? they seem a little random.

This is well above my pay grade, but I can see it will streamline workflows with projects involving multiple users and locations, increasing profits by eliminating costly cloud storage. Keep it up, Alibre.

The entire Adobe fiasco surrounding rental software and vulturous TOS make this a great time to share your offerings and business proposition. I want to see you guys acquire some new customers from these predatory companies. But you need to hurry!

I am a carpenter and model my furniture assemblies. It would be great to import the IFC-File of the room or house from the architect, directly into alibre. Currently I need to work around that.

I am very happy to say that I libre is the smoothest software ever, especially when it comes to 3-D printing. I have never 3-D printed before because of the ease of use of a libre I literally started 3-D printing in less than two days.

It's really cool to have an FEA solution available that reads native Alibre files. I have made the error myself of having FEA results that were not updated to the latest version of the part. In my case, thankfully it did not result in a bad part (I had simply removed material in areas of low stress from an earlier study), but it could very well ended in tears. Native files, make managing everything easier. And Alibre's configurations means you can have a simplified configuration for FEA studies (remove fillets, chamfers, lettering, etc)

Just letting know it is impossible to buy via Australian Vendor,which is a New Zeland phone line anyway. Is there any possible way to buy the offline licence? Why not making buying thru Paypal or other means possible? Really interested buy unable to buy it for hours of effort.
