Kay was discussing Factory Records' VHS "A Factory Video" (FACT 56) which originally included a video for The Fall's Totally Wired (title card seen briefly at 3:25).
factoryrecords....
The audio/video goes a bit out of sync in the live sections, as it was on the original source.
Blessed be those that 'get' The Fall.
yea, and it can take a while before it clicks. I think the trick is to not try so hard to get into it, just let it wash over you and do it's thing, it can take years but in the end it's worth it.
Well I started listening to the farm by mistake ,untill somebody pointed out to me it's not a mistake it's the fall
Spot on comment, it took me 30 odd years of seeing The Fall and buying up what I could get hold of before I became a total obsessive, sadly after MES's demise@@gorrillion1
I was at that Gig - it was THE VENUE in London. RIP Kay
The one sided conversation with an obviously exasperated Tony Wilson is frigging hi-larious! 🤣
I love that Fall groove. That shit hypnotizes me.
I'll take it. This is an amazing track! And always a treat to hear Kay's (and of course MES) voice.
Not seen that live clip before.
MES on top form, comfortable and relaxed even throwing in a wee groove.
Steve Hanley burning it to the ground..
She was a winner! Crazy to think how much would change in 1983 for the band!
sweetkat85 yeah,they stopped being good.
@@Spectrescup Thank you! I thought I was the only one who thought 'Perverted by Language' was a good record, though 'Hex' surely was their peak.
@@Spectrescup The Infotainment Scan from 1993 is an amazing Fall release in my opinion. ua-cam.com/video/1fwzDqDsNAI/v-deo.html
Fucking brilliant. First saw this years back and still spine tingling seeing it now.
RIP Kay Carroll
RIP Kay
Seen The Fall once(unfortunately) September 1982.He's 25 here but seems like a Middle Aged man already.
Thanks for uploading this! I remember seeing a clip of this in the BBC4 documentary (where Kay is shouting on the phone) on The Fall and always wanted to know what is was from!
Cussing out Tony Wilson. Classic!
RIP Kay Carrol.
Wow
I guessed she was talking to Wilson. Self portrait of Wyndham Lewis behind head.
Where's the Wyndham Lewis? I can't make it out
@@aleksandrzherman-smythe6264 On the wall just to the left, self portrait ' The Tyro '
@@Jlipnicki Oh yeah, I can see it now. Nice spot! Thanks,
Imagine being on the receiving end of Kay carol, id be bricking myself! 😅
Rip luv. And mark 🙏
The Fall - 1983 Mark E Smith Interview / Words of Expectation / Kay Carroll 1940pm 5.2.22 this suddenly appears. from nowhere.... though i hardly deemed the fall extreme - musically or lyrically. my fav interview segment of the fall. is this the flat that some wit made a no bulbs vid in? you see - the tyro image stuck on wall. saw this image by chance in hull art gallery. it was a pretty pleasing meeting. i'd recommend that image. how contrived was the fall? how contrived was smith's stance re: other band members and the music? how detrimental to the characters featured in the fall was the lead singer if you tried to socialise with him?... "i thought that burd shouting at tony wilson was funny"... "which bit...?" "errrr... foookin heeeeell." if you get some mushies and then wait 20 mins play this before setting out on a walk - allegedly....
Kay Carroll was funny 🤣👌
Kay was tough
A girl I was a friend of in Manchester in the 70s mid wrote in a letter how she was hit on by Wilson and told him to leave his own big party.
Hi Kay , can I please join The Fall fan club ??...
Karl Burns on guitar there?
John Brewin I thought I was seeing things!
Or is it a second bass? You can see the second drum kit set up, so he was drumming too at this show.
It's not Geoff Travis on the couch, surely? Looks nothing like him.
You may be right. I got it from the Simon Ford "Hip Priest" book -- "The video also featured a short interview with Smith and a clip of an irate Kay Carroll arguing on the phone with Tony Wilson about Factory using a track by The Fall on a video without the band's permission. In the background of this scene lurked Geoff Travis of Rough Trade." I'll update the video description.
@@cityworker That is NOT Geoff Travis!
Don't fuck with Kay.
To be honest she sounds more whiney than scary.
RIP Kay
