Too much talk not enough looks
This is my body type and I've successfully learned how to dress it over the years. I would never wear the outfit you put together. I live in the south I'm not going to put on a vest, jeans, and a hat in the middle of summer. You should've given more options for looks. You also seemed to be very critical of this body type. Work on using positive phrasing when it comes to body types. The dress you had on made you look like you had an undefined waist.
So you need to get to the point. I can't watch you anymore.
That's what I'm saying....like show us apple shaped how to dress when it's likes 90 degrees outside and we can't layer a vest, jacket or kimono without fainting of a heat stroke 😂😂😂🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

This is a re-do! There's a "Bigger In The Middle" video from Sept 2015, with brief shots of the same three slebs (Fereira, Osborne and Dunham), a lot of talk, and the studio model is a dressmaker's dummy. Ms Messiah looks young and fresh in it. The video is a bit of a waste.
Alison H she needs to go back to the drawing board with this video. I didn’t find it helpful at all. Also, it’s very common to be bigger in the middle. Truthfully , she is kinda big in the middle, but the outfit that she wore hid her trouble area.

I've NEVER heard someone address this type before. It's hard to find jeans because it has to be big enough for the waist and smaller for the thighs. Ugh

Don’t wear horizontal stripes! And never a band at the waist or anything at all like a frilly thing around the bottom of your shirt or a different color at the bottom of a shirt that brings the eye to the stomach.
I felt like this video was talking about my body specifically so I was all about seeing the looks... one boho look?! I wanted to see examples of cuts styles and patterns and how to put them together... this is a fail 😩

I'm not a stylist but, I am a woman with a thick middle. I am disagreeing with you when you say not to wear legging. I also have great legs. You can wear leggings if you wear a loose fitting tunic top. You can't always layer therefore you have to pick tops that skim the body. I tend to buy tops that have movement and flow. I also wear soft wide leg pants again the top should fall away from the body. When the weather permits I use beautiful cardigans, dusters and jackets. There are a number of ways to dress this body type.
nope...if you have a fat stomach, you look really unflattering and crazy in leggings. You go to is anything flowy...tight leggings, NO!

I agree with no leggings or skinny jeans as someone with good legs and fat stomach. I think skirts are better to show off legs and never shorts unless zero leg fat to show when you walk but thats just me I'm sure
Leggings actually improved my look with the right tops like tunics and angular shape tops. Shoes that give a little lift. Just the other day a friend was over decided to go out for dinner. Threw on some leggings and a angular shape top. Twist on the corner. Ankle boots. My skinny friend was talking all of a sudden stopped looked and said you look nice while looking up and down at me. Trying to figure it out. And you know, I knew I did! For me, it's finding the right leggings and tops. I have a ton of those boxy pants. They age me. I look fat/frumpy. I am getting rid of them.

My tummy issues are seasonal as my weight fluctuates with the temperature, and it's more of an ab thing, but a good fit in my jeans & leggings paired with flowy tops is a great option. Especially with the right shoes/boots. She doesn't give any footwear options and that pulls a look together. This "stylist" is also wearing acid-washed denim. Hideous.
After menopause lots of women find their body type has morphed into bigger in the middle. Not uncommon at all!

How is someone who isn't plus sized and wearing a too shirt dress giving fashion advice? The model went from Summer to Fall and it wasn't great advice. Tuck in your shirt, add a belt, wear elastic waisted, flowy pants w/ a tank, wear more accessories( necklace, earrings, bracelets), change hair: wear it up or in a clip bun( takes weight off your face, wear shorts with a heel or booties and a duster. The models individual look wasn't bad. She could've tucked in her shirt, put on a belt and changed her shoes( sneakers, cute slides, small heel) and added earrings. Keep it neat and accessorized makes a difference.
YOU should be the stylist - along with all the women giving constructive solutions here!
It depends on how big the belly is. Tucking in and wearing a belt can emphasize the big middle/belly which is what we’re trying to avoid.
You talked so much,but gave so little suggestions. I loved the model you chose but maybe a variety of m9dels with this issues in varying degrees and how you would dress each to maximize their assets. You completely covered her best asset not highlighting anything good about her figure. She actually looked more toned showing her legs. In the outfit she wore she had nothing to catch antibodies attention. The Again!
It may be rare among young women, but once you hit menopause it is a very common body type. And there are a lot of us! That look was great.

Needs a lesson from the original style guru's Trinny and Suzannah ... wearing wide trousers when you look chunky from the neck down ... your just gonna look like a big square or rectangle from top to bottom ... you are supposed to draw attention to the skinny areas and disguise the fat areas .... I won't be following this advice ... LM usually has good advice but this is the same advice I was hearing in the 70's and 80's that made larger women look like house ends!!!!

"Bigger in the Middle" is NOT uncommon. Leggings are fine. You used the term "You'll look like SpongeBob." Ridiculous video. Plus I live in Florida. There's no way I'm wearing something so heavy when it's 90° most of the year. A bunch of seasonal examples would have been nice. Learn to speak positively about ALL body types😒😡

Very early into the video I was surprised at her choice of words. She isn't wrong about most of what she said but there are better ways to say it.

I normally don't comment but thought the tone was condescending - what happened to "Apple shape" who says " bigger in the middle" which is sooooo abnormal 👀⁉️ #Icant I was trying to support and I used to have this shape but nada... On so many levels.
I'm all about positivity so let me be helpful ☺️maybe search the right type of body shape language, add some examples with pictures of what "not" to wear and what "to" wear. Then an example of business/ casual/date/nite - hope this helps.
That long, dark, heavy looking vest thing looks very cumbersome to me. ! I needed more picture examples. I would never wear that thing.

See, I knew when I saw this video pop up with a skinny girl in the thumbnail that this was going to irritate me. But I gave it a try. Boy, was I sorry for that. The model looked smaller when she was in her own clothes than what you put on her. Pulling the shirt down hides a hanging tummy if you have one and elongates the torso. I would never roll it up as it will draw attention to that area. Most of us who have a large midsection do have great legs so leggings and skinny jeans are great and are comfortable to wear. Go ahead and highlight the good features and show off those legs 👍🏾.
Plus they tend to have control tops that smooth out the belly a bit. The vest you put on the one model you showed actually made her look squared at the shoulders giving her a box type look. It's not flattering ESPECIALLY standing next to someone who is skinny and wearing a tube dress. You put her in the most unflattering outfit possible and nowhere near trendy. I would NEVER walk outside my door with that on. 😒

EXACTLY...The whole entire look was all wrong. All that black & that awful hat. All she had to do is put on some Spanx or other form of shapewear then she could have dressed her in more attractive feminine clothing.

Carrying weight in the middle doesn't mean your waist is longer than your other measurements- it just means that your catalog size, say, might be a Small (bust/hips), but your waist is closer to the Medium size. "Body Type" doesn't refer to a person's weight/body composition, which this woman seems to imply. I don't know if she ever named this "body type", but I have this type, and I think it's really just a variation on being a Mesomorph (or whichever the broad shouldered/narrow-hipped, well-muscled type is), particularly as one ages. I love how she says this shape is SO rare over+over- See? Things don't fit properly because you ARE a freak of nature!- defines the problem repeatedly (uh, that's WHY I'm here), then the solution is to totally hide your body. (Thanks, lady in a Kelly Bundy tank dress! Very helpful. Guess now I have 1 outfit idea I can wear while awaiting the GoFunded breast implants which will make me into a normal human woman and not a grotesque, curveless freak! ..)
I am not sure about this body type being rare. I live in Denmark, and apples (bigger in the middle) and strawberries (bigger on top) are very common around here. I am not sure in which percentages.
Trinny and Susannah commented on that when they did their "T&S in Denmark" series, and body types were their focus.
I think its heritage , what part of the planet or continent your blood line comes from and just random bad luck if its not diet & activity. I always found my big bust , chub belly ,small hips and decent legs was uncommon or different since I can remember or took noticed,
You do have a Germanic name. German heritage? Danes are practically Germans, ethnically speaking. Very common body type in this part of Europe!

I hear that! Same boat. And I haven’t noticed many others resembling my figure. My boobs are definitely bigger then they should be and I think make me look a bit bigger in some clothing on my 5.1 frame. I just always wanted a more defined waistline to go along with the rest of me 💃🏼

Lord i need the lady from what not to wear from T.L.C!! To be honest you talked sooo much then only gave us one look. And it was God awful. She looked so uncomfortable. Thanks for trying but no thank you!!! I love my body apple shape and all! I dont have to cover all of me ... i think you need this was a hard fail!
God, I have this body type and I hate it...even when I was 90 pounds and stick thin I still had a tummy that stuck out. How do I get rid of it?? Obviously losing weight isn't enough
Exactly!!! I weigh 130 and my friend weights 180 and she has a smaller waist than I do. It's so unfair. (But I wouldn't want her big arms and legs either.) I take prednisone so I wasn't always like this. I used to be proportioned. It is nearly impossible to buy pants. I'm considering buying maternity pants - then I could buy the size 6 I SHOULD be with a tummy panel instead of buying a size 10 or 12 that's massive in the hip and thigh.
+Maiasatara I just wanted to say I totally get where you are coming from with the prednisone. I used to be thin and well proportioned. Then I had to start taking prednisone for my Lupus. Over the years as my Lupus has gotten worse, I haven't been able to lower my prednisone dose. So I have gotten heavier and rounder around the middle. It really sucks, but there isn't much you can do if you have to take prednisone. I just wanted you to know I feel your pain as far as the prednisone goes. Video took FOREVER to get to the point only to see her in the same outfit with a coat over it.. wow.. if you have a big stomach just wear a coat lol! Plus bootcut trousers on an already heavy person is ridiculous. I say don’t wear jeans period, stick to dresses, skater skirts and flowy skirts.
She didn't wear the outfit, the outfit wore her. This was painful to watch. SHE CAN WEAR SKINNY JEANS W/THE RIGHT SHOES. She looked like a Cowboy-drowning in that black vest & black hat. The fabric of the vest was heavy & it looked a little masculine. Put her in some great shapewear then she could have dressed her in PRETTY/ FEMININE clothing. The fabric should be soft, light weight, & flowy. SUGGESTIONS: Maxi dress w/ a cardigan, Maxi skirt with a cute V-neck top & a cardigan, V-neck Tunic top w/skinny jeans or leggings & chunky knee high boots so that calves appear bigger-creating balance, V-neck Tunic dress w/knee high boots again-creating balance. These are just a few of many outfits she could have picked besides this hideous mess. Poor girl.

I always wear bootcut pants but they are hard to find. Seems like skinny Jean's and leggings are so popular now.
I consider a large mid-section to mean relatively large ( small hips and bust, medium waist). As for the outfit you showed, it seems appropriate for a different season than the original t-shirt/shorts. Jeans? A vest? A black hat? Those would be really warm in the summertime .

You did a great job of telling us what not to wear but you didn't give us much option in what we could wear. Also it's the summer time that is a lot of fabric for summer.

If that is what you call a tummy you should go check out what a tummy is. Use someone that has a tummy and then see if you will be able to hide it. If you got somebody that is 1.64 meters tall (5feet 4) and weighs 96 kilo's (212 pnds) with all the weight aroud the stomach and belly area! Than let me see you try your ideas on that person. You would be the first one in the world ro tackle this!!!

I needed this. I am thin but have a bloating issue and my tummy isn’t in shape. I’ve fallen in the bad habit of all flowy tops up top. It is very frustrating.
Wow...you made me wait soooo long before I could see anything. You explanations were great but you could have just show quick clips to make your points. Sorry to say it but 10 minutes before showing something practical is a long time in todays youtube world. I look forward to more as your style is pretty cool.

Girl "trouble area" is so condescending and kind of mean because it IS a body type
Especially to say to that girl's face you know?
Love the jacket but being ankle length isn't a reality for a relaxed weekend.
Also, for some of us bigger in the middle girls, surgeries or babies or whatever leave the issue of skin sagging low which means a shirt tucked higher isn't a good option because it highlights (and doesn't disguise) where the saggy skin is.
Bootcuts and flares are my absolute favorite for trying to balance my shape but, currently, they're not in style so trying to find a good pair is hard.
Love the video but there could have been more styles shown.

I am 6 feet tall with broad shoulders and head skin removal surgery and breast reduction. My breast used to be larger than my waist and he said it would be proportionate to my body. He made me an A cup! I was in a cup when I was 8 years old.
Glad to see I'm not the only person who thought this video was lengthy and pointless. I was hoping to see more styles and ideas. Your message was repetative & redundant. I hope you can redo this video and touch on different points and ideas.

I put it on 2 (fast speed) to see if anything good came out. I was hoping someone talking about fashion would be dressed in something fashionable and perhaps offer some visuals. the one visual near the end would have been more interesting if there was a long-shot/full-length instead of just close up of mostly the hat. I personally feel this vid is not of any use for what it claims.

I have such a strange body. My hips are so wide I have the thinnest/longest legs and no butt to even me out and I have a small gut but hold weight pretty well so jeans don’t fit me.. if they fit around my waist they are huge everywhere else. If they fit on my legs they are too tight on my waist and shirts don’t look right on me either

I hate to be negative but the model you showed did not look overweight at all. I want to see a 175lb+ model who carries their weight in the stomach. Plus size clothes rarely are made to fit that body style. At least I haven’t found any. Even when I was of normal weight, if I wanted to have something that fit, I had to buy up a size and then get it altered. Now that I’m older, I just don’t have the time or energy to do all that. Leggings are easy as is skinny jeans. I hate belts because they cut off your breathing. Thanks for trying though.
