😢 That broke me down. They kind of exposed it in the temptation movie. Remember the woman Leon( David Ruffin) was dragging through the park when they had that cookout. I think that was supposed to be Tammy.

Not true. Marvin's version was actually RECORDED first (sessions occuring February 3, 8, 13, 15, and April 10, 1967; released October 30, 1968). Gladys Knight & The Pips' version was RELEASED first (released September 28, 1967; recorded June 17, 1967). Their version remains, to this day, my favorite of all of them recorded. And, I have to throw this in: My second-favorite recorded version of "Grapevine" ... is by Credence Clearwater Revival from the "Cosmo's Factory" album.@@megaoldskool76

It's so sad that Marvin Gae was killed by his nasty dad. and that the Jacksons were abused by someone who did not deserve such a talented family. so sorry for Tammi as well. How could those men be so ugly inside. I guess it wasn't enough for James Brown to be ugly on the outside. I've lost a lot of respect for James Brown. Loved his music. A few reasons. 1. Google AI flags certain videos containing potential trigger words. The uploader is attempting to skirt the potential removal of the video and - as well - is hoping to avoid strikes on their channel. 2. The narration is also AI generated. The AI websites forbid the translation of certain words in AI text.

I read somewhere that Tammy’s family looked the other way when she was being beaten by James Brown and David Ruffin. They didn’t care what was happening to her as long as she was making money singing that’s all they cared about. She didn’t have the protection from her family. She was very young when she was with James Brown. I think I read James Brown went to her father and asked for permission for her to sing background for him, and not too long after that he started beating on her.

Different times. The kind of violence that is unacceptable today was pretty common and it cut the paradigms of race and class. Back then men were men, women and children had to stay in line. Not right but that’s the way society worked. Berry Gordy ripped off his artists, Diana Ross stabbed Florence Ballard in the back. To be fair, Gordys treatment of his artists was no different than any other record executives. There’s behind the scenes drama in any business you want to look at. MJs story is kind of sad. It’s a double edged sword. The discipline his father instilled in him was the genesis of MJs greatness; his fathers abuse was the genesis of MJs own warped abusive behavior that I think he honestly mistaked for love
