  • First startup of the morning. This was a very unique opportunity to film an engine start and takeoff of a fairly rare bird, the Dornier DO328 Jet. The carrier Taos Air offers air service from Southern California (HHR and CRQ) to Taos New Mexico, for vacationers/skiers. The also fly out of Austin and Dallas.
A big thank you to my good plane spotting friend Ryan Bomar, Taos Air, and the crew at Jet Center Los Angeles for chance to capture this moment on video. Check out Ryan's UA-cam channel at / ryanbomar .
Links for Taos Air and Jet Center Los Angeles are as follows. Book a flight and try them out!

Dont know if anyone is still active out here, but WOW. Flew it with Denver Air a few months back, man was it a treat to get in the air. I will never find another plane as outstanding at it.

The DO328 jet really is an awesome aircraft. Were you a passenger, or did you actually pilot the aircraft?

@@LoveJT8D Ive set out to fly the DOJet for many years now, hopefully I will get the chance to pilot the 328Jet or even the 328Eco if those plans go through. Currently I don’t fly the 328Jet, however I am a Milwaukee based captain for Freight Runners Express, on the Beech 99 & 1900c.

I do know and are friends with a lot of 328Jet pilots flying for DAC and Ultimate Jetcharters who I believe do lease those 328Jets out to Taos Air.

Awesome video! I’ve always loved the design of these planes ever since I read about them. And with airlines like Taos Air and Denver Air Connection (I live in the Denver area) using them it’s like they’re making a comeback!

dave4shmups Thanks a bunch! Definitely a super unique design. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see this plane amidst of all the other low wing twin jets. They really do seem to be making a comeback in cases like these and hopefully the niche they fill will stick around a while.

Sounds like a Hornet starting up!

It really does! And there’s usually no mistaking the sound of a Hornet starting up.

A old Atlantic Coast Airlines Jet. Used to be based in CVG. If you took of the center cap on the yoke of the flight controls they would keep nudie pictures in there :)

Now we need a comparison video of the turboprop version.

Eric Lozen Would absolutely love to film the prop version too. I’m not aware of any flying I the US other than maybe some corporate / cargo versions. Thanks for watching!

Flynn Jones You know, I’m not really sure. Usually they leave just after fueling.
