    The way Neil breaks things down and verbalizes his perspectives... I am speechless. Thank you.

    Even though this video has been out for a while, I always come back to it and try to re-learn all the small tips that pay off in the end. Thank you Neil!

    I just earned my blue belt and up to now have only done gi BJJ....I just started doing no gi and I feel totally lost without my grips sometimes. This style right here seems perfect as it is a very controlling type of style just like using grips in the gi....thanks for the awesome vids!!

    God I cant wait for more Neil. Its funny where we all end up or who we connect with as teachers. He seems like a very good guy and a thoughtful grappler

    I was in a position like this just last week in sparring thinking, "If I was far better I'm sure there'd be something cool to do here," luckily there are people like you who are much, much better with great ideas and videos!! Thanks so much, Neil!! I look forward to trying this, messing it up (x100), and eventually getting it!

    With the Neil Knot, I have a hard time connecting the hand that has the shoulder lock to the free arm that is grabbing the ankle to make that triangle type choke. Is there a detail I am missing to close that up? Do I just need to hip out more getting that knee higher on top of the shoulder? I love this position, because it is a great pit stop to flow into next move.

    Damn... I love going for sit up sweeps and the kimora from guard so this fits perfectly. Not to mention I always struggle with arm bars but shouldn't anymore with this setup... good shit there...

    Brother I have been watching your videos for years during my down time. You’re one of my inspiration for continuing Jits.
    Your tone, timbre, pitch everything speech and the way you break it down Gumby style makes it easy for a marine such as myself.
    Thank you for all your work you have down for our brothers and sisters.

      How does catch wrestling differ from no gi Jiu-jitsu?

    • @guam58
      @guam58 5 років тому +3

      @@Bazluu it is more violent and painful. The goal is to submit regardless if it is a crank or spinal manipulation. Catch wrestling is the oldest from of grappling. It pre-dates jui jitsu. Many of the moves from catch are used in jui jitsu. There is a technique called a shin lock. The worst pain I have ever felt.

    I've been trying to play more rubber guard lately and although I really like it in no-gi, the friction and collar in the gi makes it a little awkward, so I'll definitely try using this.

    I'm a big fan of this Williams guard however I feel that it would be difficult to create the proper extension required for the arm bar in the beginning of the arm bar transition if your opponent keeps the appropriate top pressure

    The rule of thumb is, don't cross your ankles if the other arm is out. If the other arm is inside you crossing your ankles it doesn't matter.
