    Sharing this straight from the mats at the Evolve grappling competition, so today we show you one of my favorite guard positions; the shoulder pin! Also known as the Williams guard (referring to Shawn Williams). Enjoy these 3 sneaky chokes from the shoulder pin guard!

    Me and my training partner have been using Williams Guard/shoulder pin since a few years back. That third choke I havent seen yet, eventhough we tried experimenting with stuff on the other side. Gonna try it tonight! :)

      Awesome! Love playing this guard. You mean the ninja choke? I have a whole video on it, hope this works: ua-cam.com/video/juWwcHckoKg/v-deo.html

    I love that Neil knot! Such an easy an effective choke. I've never seen that entry into the rubber/Williams guard (same same). Thank you! Normally i enter from butterfly, but closed guard is my game

      Thank you! Yeah it's a great submission with pretty low risk on losing the position. If you want to go more in depth I'd highly recommend our latest instructional 'the active guard' that goes all in on these systems 🙌🏼🙏🏼 osú

    Nice, this is a great run down. Williams is fun to play and I've found many guys I roll with at other gyms don't know it. Also the Ninja is underrated.

      Osú brother! Yeah and even better is mixing it with other guard systems like rubber guard, rat guard and kguard. In the past couple years I've been blending that into a coherent system. If you're interested check out 'the active guard' on BJJ Fanatics. 🙏🏼🙌🏼👊🏼

      Thanks! So here I say “I ebi myself..” ebi is a basic move in jiujitsu and grappling also known as shrimping or hip escaping. You’ll find it when you look for it on UA-cam like bjj ebi or shrimp. Hope it makes sense! Osú

      Yes. Did you read the description and/or top pinned comment? 😁 and as with more things in BJJ; Shoulder Pin Guard, Leg-Hook Guard, 'Russian' Guard, London Guard, Lister Grip Guard, Shawn Williams Guard; all the same position. But thanks for clearing it up! Osú

    The ninja choke literally puts you flat and your guard open.

    • @EnergiaMartialArts
      @EnergiaMartialArts  8 місяців тому +3

      Yes.. with a locked in choke. What exactly is the problem? Also it takes zero effort to (should it fail) close the guard again and reset.

      I 100% agree. He's a great guy and took the system a lot further. But to be honest it was Shawn William who invented this and he should get the most credits and has the best stuff on it. But thanks for pointing that out ;)
