East Beast’s oscillator, designed in partnership with the too serious for words people from Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers, is a part of their 5th generation of analog oscillators stemming from a super-serious 10 years of continued research into analog oscillator development.
Cre8audio’s super serious friends at Pittsbugh Modular Synthesizers are just as serious about filters as they are about oscillators. East Beast’s filter is a multi-mode filter, meaning it can be used as a low pass filter, high pass filter, bandpass filter, or a combination of the three for an even wider sonic palate.

Put it in a small case with a Cre8audio Function Junction and Captn Big O to get into analog modular in a big way for little $$.
I really like Oliver's presentation here. Also this little synth sounds lovely and the randomising of the waveforms and filter types is really cool!

I bought a West Pest...then had to send it back because the MIDI did not work with any of my controllers. So I bought a second West pest from a different retailer and the MIDI still didn't work with any of my controllers. So I sent that one back too. I suspect MIDI on the East Beast is as janky as on the West Pest. That's a shame because, in all other respects, these two synths offer so much in such a little box and for such a low price. They sound so good and the sequencer/arpeggiator is a lot of fun. Hopefully they can address the note-hanging issue via firmware or with mkII models.
What’s it doing? I have my east beast hooked up to a Keystep and haven’t had an issue. Going to send out notes from DAW tomorrow and see what’s up as well.
I'd also be intrigued to know what it's doing, you're the first person I've heard of with issues.
@@Daphoid I have the West Pest. On arrival, it didn't respond to Note Off from my Yamaha Reface CS. It did after installing the V0.9 firmware, which is still the latest, AFAIK, but someone else I've exchanged comments with said that didn't fix it, for him.
There are two types of Note Off allowed in the MIDI spec, but only one type supported by the original West Pest firmware. Presumably, the same applies to the East Beast. They work with the Keystep, as shipped, but not with a lot of other keyboards.
I like this thing and use it alot but I'm afraid that it will end up on bad gear in about a year from now 😮
Most of the stuff featured on bad gear isn't actually bad gear - it's just stuff people complain about, which pretty much is everything

the 303 is only square and saw wave doesnt have fm and the envelope is only the decay you can control and also doesn't have FM nor lfo plus the more modular capabilities
