    Obrigada pelos vídeos, Carla! Encontrei este canal por acaso e tem uma qualidade altíssima. Vou aconselhá-lo a todos os meus amigos estrangeiros que estão a aprender Português. Tens uma óptima dicção (e pronúncia britânica também). Continua o excelente trabalho!!

    Portuguese was used in my country of Morocco, especially in the western coasts of Ceuta and Tangier to Agadir and the Sahara, but is no longer used today except for a lot of words in the dialects of Morocco, even the Spanish is used relatively in the north and south but the French control the situation

    I found the addition of the sentences using the colours very helpful both for vocabulary as well as to continue working on the pronounciation!

    This is a cool introduction to European Portuguese! I just began learning it a few months back and I'm focusing mostly on Brazilian Portuguese. However, I want to learn a bit of European Portuguese to get used to the pronunciation and vocabulary. This is fun.

    So what's the difference between vermelho and encarnado?

    • @portuguesewithcarla
      @portuguesewithcarla  2 роки тому +1

      Olá Arty! We view them as synonyms, although enCARNado comes from CARNE (meat/flesh). Which would be lighter than red. So vermelho is supposed to be darker than encarnado, but most people will likely tell you it’s the same colour: vermelho/encarnado = red. Vermelho is more commonly used. But when referring to the Benfica football team we call them “os encarnados” - the main colour of their uniform is red…

    Can I ask when exactly you use the conjugations like quiser and pudesse? And are they absolutely necessary or not often used

    • @Theyoutuberpolyglot
      @Theyoutuberpolyglot 6 років тому

      DeluxeTux5249 se eu pudesse é uma condicional. Se te pudesse ajudar, ajudaria-te. Se eu quiser é o futuro do subjuntivo. Esta forma podes usar-la para expressar uma intenção ou um desejo. Eu farei os trabalhos de casa quando eu quiser. Ele fará as tarefas domésticas quando ele tiver tempo. O verbo querer tem o significado de ter a intenção de fazer alguma coisa. É um desejo e os desejos podem ser imaginários ou realistas. Se eu quisesse tiraria férias, mas não as tiro porque não quero, não é a minha intenção, embora tenha tempo.

    • @portuguesewithcarla
      @portuguesewithcarla  6 років тому +1

      DeluxeTux5249 Olá! Quiser is future subjunctive and Pudesse is imperfect subjunctive - subjunctive tenses express uncertainty, desire, probability.
      Examples: if i could = se eu pudesse
      Se eu quiser = if I want to;
      Quando eu quiser = whenever I want to
      They are often used, Im afraid. Id say that when you’re listening to portuguese being spoken or see it written, you pay special attention to the context in which those tenses are used.
      Hope this helps :)

    • @Theyoutuberpolyglot
      @Theyoutuberpolyglot 6 років тому

      That sounds better. As Portuguese is my native language I don't know the rules of the language.
      Se eu pudesse- I didn't know that was imperfect subjunctive.
      Se eu quiser/ se você quiser- I use these kinds of sentences a lot when I speak with my grandmother- Deolinda. My name is Zé ou José. Since I was a kid my family used to call me Zé, Zé faz a cama, zé faz isto e aquilo. O maluco do zé nao fez a cama. Avó, eu fiz a cama sim, venha cá ver.
      You speak the language+ you know all the rules. We native speakers we have no clue about the rules and the grammar structures. I have no idea when I use subjective future or imperfect in my native language (Portuguese). I have a general idea because I learnt Italian and French. These two languages are similar. Carla, be honest with yourself and with myself. Do we have to learn the grammar rules to express ourselves? I learnt English for 10 years at school, and when I arrived in London I was in deep water. I didn't understand anybody, and I was not able to communicate with the people. I knew all the rules subjunctive, past tense, future simple, going to. From my point of view is much better learning sentences by heart, and use them with real people rather than learning a bunch of rules and don't know how to use them automatically and spontaneously.

    • @portuguesewithcarla
      @portuguesewithcarla  6 років тому +1

      Theyoutuberpolyglot Olá :) I learnt English the same way, by exposure. I agree with you, the best way is to be surrounded by the native speakers and be immersed in the language. As you said in your other comment, it can be overwhelming, however it gets easier and before you know it you start speaking with fluency. That generally is the case of those who are thrown into the deep end. Unfortunately most people don’t have the chance to live in the country of the language they wish to learn, they don’t get the same amount of exposure, so they feel grammar is important to learn. Others find it interesting to understand it in a deeper level and wish to be able to not only communicate but speak it with accuracy. Also, most adults (if not all) when learning a second language question the structure of it because it’s different to their own and kids would never do that, they take it as it is.
      So, when I’m teaching I will mention grammar, but try not to focus on it as it tends to slow the fluency of speech.
      Obrigada pelos teus comentários e tudo de bom :)
      Carla

    Why you have two words for red? What is the difference between vermelho and encarnado?

    Meu deus como se escreve correto " cor de rosa ou cor-de-rosa" A segunda é correta- com hífem.
    A minha casa é cor de vinho.O Meu tio embebedou-se muito, e pintou a casa de cor de vinho. É uma piada carla.
    A minha pele é cor de pêssego. Comi muitos pêssegos, e fiquei com a pele dessa cor, e agora essa cor já nao sai da minha pele.XD
    4:26 É verde, nao castanho.
    Faz-lá tu, nao estou para aturar-te

FOR EXAMPLE JUST LIKE THIS VIDEO THERE TEACHING U COLOURS IN PORTUGAL WELL "SUPPOSED " TO BE AND THERE SAYING THEM IN PORTUGUESE BUT THERE NOT SHOWING U IN ENTLISH ASWELL SO U KNOW HOW TI LEARN THEM!!!. THEY SHOW U TJEM IN "CONTEXT" BUT THEY SHOULD BE SHOWING U THEM IN PORTUGUESE AND THEN IN ENGLISH AND THEN AFTER THAT SHOW U THEM IN CONTEXT!!!!!. ITS SOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!.
