People are praising Scourge everywhere, and even if Scourge is amazing, I just find it annoying. Reaper feels very compact, and more like of a one unit chad, while Scourge is dependant on his shrouds which can be a real pain. Anyway it's a really good video, and this is no contest the most chill/universal build in the game, it's basically gw2 easy mode :)
I've tried all three Elite specializations now on my Necro and I love the Harbinger and very much enjoy the Reaper, almost equally, but I can't find myself enjoying Scourge. It reminds me too much of Affli lock in WoW and although I like the fantasy of the spec, it's playstyle is just too much button-piano for it to be enjoyable for me. Simple and engaging > Complex & tryhard.
New player here. My first character was a necro, and I found that his skill set is so organic and easy to understand. Most of the tine I end up în team fight with noob people, like me, and I realised that I can suport the team, even I am dps, as a reaper. I can revive them quick, switch to a more suport focus skills.
@@Vallun mate, you got to boycott those kp groups. You cant enable them to gatekeep like that, ever since i stopped going into kp groups i had much more fun too.
In my opinion, best option in game play, learn the class, learn the build. Play it, learn it like the back of your hand. I know many will disagree with that but, it is what it is. Cheers :)
I`ve been playing around with this build for a while now and I`ve to say it´s very effective, easy to play and offers a lot of fun contrary to many "meta" rotations I always try to do "Executioner`s Scythe" first before "Soul Spiral" to get the advantages of the ice combo field

I like the way you explain the reasoning behind the build, it's very useful for new players. That way players can modify it to suit their playstyles. I don't think it's much fun to just copy other people's builds and rotations blindly.
Very well made vid, and of course very well made series. Greatsword Reaper and Rifle Deadeye are such great and creative takes on their vanilla profs that they are two of my favorite archetypes in *any* game.

This video is great with a strong build. It inspired me to create my own. I want to say I played your build and it's awesome. It gave me the direction I needed. Necromancer is so fun. I was trying to do a build like this on Warrior and simply could not. My warrior builds were one shot (or close to it) and my Necro now can solo golds. Probably stronger with practice. Great video. As a Reaper main, I can agree with everything said here. I don't use Signet of Undeath, but that's because PvE is so much easier with Signet of Undeath that it was leading to bad habits. I took it off to focus on paying more attention to active defense instead and focusing on more damaging rotations. But for tougher content, I can always slip it back in.
Ty!! I always played PvE and i'm surprised how well i'm doing on PvP and thinkig "i wish i had started it sooner". Currently i'm playing basically reaper/renegade unranked matches and destroying with these two. I hope i remain as effective for ranked when the time comes.

After the patch and the nerf to critchance for Reapers, I would suggest a modified build. Take bitter chill and Decimate Defenses. Use full Dragon gear with scholar runes. I use Force/Night and Strength to keep might at 25 stacks.
Dude I still love this build. Even in new content in open world, it's so much more fun to play Reaper than Scourge. Sure, scourge gets a lot of hype because of the hybrid way it does damage while supporting allies but its not very fun playstyle. But this reaper build is such a jack of all trades. I main a thief and he doesn't begin to stack up to the survivability of this build and how many things you can solo kill because of all the health bonuses.
I tweaked this build a little bit for Open World map metas, I take Dread instead of Close to Death in the spite tree since I'm normally cleaving so many enemies down I tend to have almost 100% fury uptime along with me being able to keep a good uptime on Shroud 3's Fear + Stability buff which makes me virtually impossible to knock down most of the time. I take Well of Power instead of Darkness for condi cleanse and stun break since it still forms the Dark combo when paired with Nightfall. I also experimented with Spectral Ring but I found it didn't have great synergy with my rotation and wasn't off cooldown when I needed it.

As a casual player, I do not have time or inclination to go beyond ascended and a single gear for a character. I looked at your suggested setup and considering swapping the valkyrie trinkets (obtained only in LS3 grind or raids) for full berserkers (e.g., login - lauers obtainable) with alternating the weapons, head, shoulders and chest to Marauder. For a small loss in ferocity(obtainable by food choice) and gain in crit, I could end up with a single gear power reaper compromise (PvE, WvW). Any comments, anyone?

@@Vallun I'll look for it. The title made me chuckle. You should make side node/support build and call it, the generously greedy. The issue I run to with the ele is the removal of amulets that serves the purpose of an all-around class. Tried your Reaper GS - it really does well vs Scourge.

Blood bank trait with full pets can be best for Pve ? I find they steal tones of hp which turn to barrier. I think reaper is best cause of that Rise skill which can give a lot of extra minions and carapace when traited.
I really want my Warrior to feel as good as Reaper. Any suggestions? Right now Reaper is just hands down more fun and stronger. I can solo just about anything I want. Warrior (axe/axe Berserk is what I can gear) is a glass cannon. Not my play style. I'm a brawler. A defensive boxer. Just like this build you have here. Looking for tips. Thank you.

Would Celestial gear work for this build? I'm gonna have some Celestial from my 80 boost and Reaper sounds really fun. Actually wish I had started checking out Necro when I came back last year instead of focusing on Ele, basically forced myself to play Ele all this time because I was convinced I would eventually 'settle into it' but I never did and now I'm finally over it and ready to try something else.

Whenever I see a video and wonder how much realtime the guy has played in the game, I look at the Luck%. Essentially, Ive just not got the hours logged but I have relentless aspirations.
spec grasp technically can give more shroud than armor if it hits multiple targets which in wvw you can find so many mobs and out numbered siutations that can give that, and also in those outnumbered situations no amount of health will save you except disabling enemies to get them off you. Air would probably be a dps loss to hydromancy (cold shoulder trait gives 15% dmg to chilled) but a dps gain to vision, but the burst of vision and hydromancy will always be better
Great build as it clearly works for you and others. Sadly for me, I get wrecked really hard, and can't really solo anything. I have an old build that is greatsword with minions, and I can solo anything np. I came here because I'm searching for a solo build that doesn't involve pets. I find it annoying having to manage 4 minions all the time. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I just take so much dmg even from regular bandit camps, etc. I feel very squishy.
Hello, I know that question might be dumb, but what exactly means 3 stacks of stability? It means that its stability with "force" 3 so for someone with higher force or attack I can still be knocked or pushed, or it means that you can get hit 3 times during this buff and for 4th time you will be knocked for example?
stability stacks in intensity, basically stability ignores cc effects, so if you have 1 stability stack you can get CCd once before CCs become effective on you again, 3 stacks just means you're immune to 3 ccs or until it all runs out
would going signets (instead of BM) for wvw be a viable option w/ this build since wvw don't have nerfed signets like spvp (vampirism and undeath) or is unholy martyr too strong to lose?

I made a very similar build to this. Still tinkering around with it a bit, though - trying to fit signets of undeath into the build. For utilities, I feel uncomfortable going without a stunbreak, so I go with spectral armor or walk instead of Grasp. Currently, Im going with Spectral Ring instead of signets of undeath, taking the Dread Trait. I wonder how much of a dps loss this is over signets of undeath and close to death.. But, along with +10% Boon Duration Sigils on my weapons and rune of the pack, the build achieves solo 100% quickness and fury uptime. It also uses bitter chill, which achieves close to 100% 25 Vulnerability uptime. I'm thinking about dropping Spectral Ring for Signet of Undeath, for better LF generation.. Would only leave Infusing Terror as a fear in the build.. although, vs a single enemy, that already achieves very high fury and quickness uptime and when there are adds, it's up to 100% again. Not sure if dread is still worth it like that. Only thing that really sometimes annoys me is the lack of condi cleanse in the build. It's hard to fit condi cleanse on the weapons or the utilities, save for Spectral Walk... and signets of vampirism seems to be quite powerful when traited.
I don't like that the shroud takes away my cool looking weapon (I have the 'Seven' style weapon skins). But the build looks a ton of fun. Thanks for the video :(
I just started playing and got my first character to lvl 80, and it happens to be this type of character. This build looks sick. But how do I go about farming/finding/buying the gear I need?
Between this and the Power Reaper on metabattle, I'm in dilemma on which of the 2 suits me better. Both are good and the reasoning are solid, the differences minimal.

The last 2 skills are a must for this build. It's what I use and once you pull them to you they are basically screwed once you go right into reaper.

I used a build like this for reaper but with Valkyrie gear and wurm runes. Near 100% crit still from traits and crazy hits. Plus like 32k health

With the pvp build i was able 2v1 a mesmer and shield guardian with ease. I just started doing the pvp shit last week. Works great!

fire weaver is good, i have a vid called the humble braggart and youd just play that with sage ammy or cele in wvw

What is the WvW equipment and traits? PvE equipment + PvP traits? Or is there something different?

Great build as it clearly works for you and others. Sadly for me, I get wrecked really hard, and can't really solo anything. I have an old build that is greatsword with minions, and I can solo anything np. I came here because I'm searching for a solo build that doesn't involve pets. I find it annoying having to manage 4 minions all the time. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I just take so much dmg even from regular bandit camps, etc. I feel very squishy.
maybe youre not wearing armor and you think you are because of an outfit?

Hello, I know that question might be dumb, but what exactly means 3 stacks of stability? It means that its stability with "force" 3 so for someone with higher force or attack I can still be knocked or pushed, or it means that you can get hit 3 times during this buff and for 4th time you will be knocked for example?
stability stacks in intensity, basically stability ignores cc effects, so if you have 1 stability stack you can get CCd once before CCs become effective on you again, 3 stacks just means you're immune to 3 ccs or until it all runs out

would going signets (instead of BM) for wvw be a viable option w/ this build since wvw don't have nerfed signets like spvp (vampirism and undeath) or is unholy martyr too strong to lose?

I made a very similar build to this. Still tinkering around with it a bit, though - trying to fit signets of undeath into the build.
For utilities, I feel uncomfortable going without a stunbreak, so I go with spectral armor or walk instead of Grasp.
Currently, Im going with Spectral Ring instead of signets of undeath, taking the Dread Trait. I wonder how much of a dps loss this is over signets of undeath and close to death.. But, along with +10% Boon Duration Sigils on my weapons and rune of the pack, the build achieves solo 100% quickness and fury uptime. It also uses bitter chill, which achieves close to 100% 25 Vulnerability uptime.
I'm thinking about dropping Spectral Ring for Signet of Undeath, for better LF generation.. Would only leave Infusing Terror as a fear in the build.. although, vs a single enemy, that already achieves very high fury and quickness uptime and when there are adds, it's up to 100% again. Not sure if dread is still worth it like that.
Only thing that really sometimes annoys me is the lack of condi cleanse in the build. It's hard to fit condi cleanse on the weapons or the utilities, save for Spectral Walk... and signets of vampirism seems to be quite powerful when traited.

If you replace signet of undeath with signet of spite, would it better to run awaken the pain over signet of suffering?
probably yes because then youd be in shroud less, which is a bad thing that you wouldnt want

Between this and the Power Reaper on metabattle, I'm in dilemma on which of the 2 suits me better. Both are good and the reasoning are solid, the differences minimal.
