Thanks for documenting! Just did this last week with my son and DIL, but your photos and video are much better (I was hanging on for dear life). I almost bailed the morning of our booking but so glad I was able to muster up the courage. Our guide Kevin was fantastic. Warm regards!
Amazing work and video. I will definitely God willing get done next year. What is the best month of the year to do the Vía Ferrarata trail Thank you Really appreciate and enjoyed your experience
We did this via ferrata in June and it was incredible! They do recommend booking the morning guided tour as afternoon storms can pass through the valley and it's not safe to do the via ferrata when the rocks are wet/it is storming. So if you book a summer morning guided tour, it's less likely to be cancelled from inclement weather.
Have you guys done the Via Ferrata at NRocks in West Virginia? Curious how this one compares. That one is great if you haven’t been there yet. Just 3 hours from Pittsburgh.
I had to look that one up, that looks like so much fun! You are right- only about 3 hours from me! I'll have to find a day to go do this one in the fall! Thanks for sharing this info!
Thank you for sharing this important tips, I am planning to the via Ferrata hike this summer July or August 2025. Would the rental stores include a parachute just in case . I am positive as long as you fallow instructions. I am 5f 12 inches and 230 pounds. Definitely need to lose some weight. 🙏 Thanks
Have a great time on the via ferrata! They do not provide you with a parachute. You have the waist harness and clips to clip yourself to the bolts/wire line along the rock. As long as you properly clip yourself as instructed by the guides, you shouldn't have any life-threatening falls. If you were to slip while on the rock face, the waist harness should catch you from severe falls.
Guys - thanks for the video. You are saying somebody with no experience in VFs can hike this one and that’s cool Still, are there shorter/easier ones in Murren to test the waters before you jump in with the big one?
There were a few people in our group with a fear of heights and no experience rock climbing or ropes courses or via ferratas, and they did it! I do recommend going with a group + guide if you are not experienced with via ferratas. I don't believe there are any easier ones in Murren.
@@TravelSzN Brilliant! Thank you very much for your response. I have no specific fear of heights beyond a normal human response that keeps you alive 😂 and I have some experience in rock climbing but none in VF. I am just trying not to be cocky and assume that rock climbing skills translate into VF climbing. Guess I’ll just join a group and have fun with it!
Very Cool! I was going to ask if you guys ever came across Ferrata in the US? I mentioned in a previous comment (another video) that I have been living in C Euro and have experienced Ferrata in several countries. I love this activity for multiple reasons and I hope to have some similar experiences when I move back to the US.
I did this in the summer and the cliff part was worse than the bridge. I thought the bridge was gonna be the worst part but parts of that cliff were akward.
Gimmelwald and Switzerland is definitely is on the bucket list !
This is the best video of this Via Ferrata. Thanks for all information.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed the video! :)

Great video. One feels as if on the trail! Reminds me of the latest Mission Impossible with the paraglider in the mountains.

@@TravelSzN you’ll love it and not believe you are in WV. It just feels so much like being out west in the Rocky Mountains.
Very detailed vdo for the murren Via Ferrata, thanks so much. I will be there in August
Glad it was helpful! Have an incredible experience !
Enjoyed every minute of your video! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

There is one in West Virginia, but we haven't tried it yet! I think there may be some out west/northwest as well. The via ferratas are so much fun!
The views are fantastic but dang, that hike is creepy. LOL. LIKE 3. 👍👍👍
it was a little scary at the cliffside! but lots of fun!

Agreed!
OMG Think I need a Dramamine, feeling a bit dizzy. The views are spectacular, but defiantly not for me. 🤗👍
