Most people nowadays know that Dr. Phil is trash. It started with Danielle Bregoli in 2016. Also, he knew that Turnabout Ranch was abusing their underage clients, but he kept sending people there anyway. One of their clients had asthma and was being forced to do manual labor in the Arizona summer heat (stuff like shoveling horse manure for 8+ hours a day), and he had an asthma attack and died because they wouldn't give him his inhaler. If I can recall correctly, they attempted to claim that they thought he was faking it for attention. Paris Hilton was at a similar camp for troubled youth ("Provo Canyon"), and she made similar allegations. Actually, I think there's a whole documentary about it on Netflix called "This Is Paris". After the Wizard of Oz wrapped up, the harm Judy endured never went away, no amount of fame could reverse pain she endured at the hands of the studio system, her spending and addictive habits cost her millions, by the time of her death Judy was down to pocket change, she lamented that the worst thing she did was "Sing Over the Rainbow", truly one of the most tragic celebrity falls in American media.
I read a biography about her a few years ago. The drugs and alcohol did not help her in life, but a lot of her financial troubles occurred because she got REALLY bad financial guidance throughout her life. People, including one of her ex husbands, made bad decisions on her behalf, people she put her trust and faith into and who took advantage of her. At the time of her death, she had only about $50K left to her name. Her daughters ended up selling off a lot of her personal items to pump money back into the estate so her heirs could receive their inheritance. A sad legacy to leave behind after having a pretty successful career.
Agreed. Judy Garland was a true victim in every sense of the word. Yes, she became a drug addict b/c she was MADE to be one by her mother and studio heads who pumped her full of seemingly everything they could find to keep her weight down and her energy up. They'd even then drug her to go to sleep. This poor beauty, w/a voice that remains unmatched, didn't have a chance in h*ll. NO ONE looked out for her or had her back. Jesus, even her own husband, mother and studio head insisted she abort her pregnancy when she was young. The cruelty she endured....tragic.

Lets not forget the child star Jackie Coogan who starred in many of the early movies and made some good money only to find out his parents spent it all when he went to claim it when he was 18. They named the Coogan Law after him to make parents put said money into a trust fund for their kids.
However, it's still only 15% that is put in trust. That's nothing to sneeze at, but the vast majority of earnings can still be controlled by family (who often pay themselves as managers). Additionally, the law is only in California. Any productions (and social media money) outside of California have no such requirements.

Some call my parents cheap because even though they have successful careers in law and medicine. They rented an apartment for 1,500k, had used cars, or rode public transportation to and from work. Rarely did we shop high-end stores and went shopping at Walmart, Aldi, and Target. They did send me to private school from preschool- high school and had a college fund set up. But since I was 16, I was working at a fast food place over the summer and worked during my college breaks. I wanted my own money for my pocket. And we did take a nice family vacation.

I cannot feel sorry for most of these rags-to-riches stories when it seems most could not handle their money (overspending). Money can make money but you need people who know how to do just that.
For some of these celebrities, they spent their money foolishly when they had a lot of it. SO, I don't feel sorry for them. If you don't put any away for retirement, because we all KNOW that only a VERY small percentage are STILL making a lot of money many years after their initial popularity.
Another mention: Paul Cattermole from S Club 7. After leaving the band, he tried different things, but he suffered a back injury which stifled his career, kept being rejected for reality TV for "not being famous enough" and was so broke he sold his Brit Award.

There is nothing tragic in these stories. I actually think all these stories have an utterly soothing, moralistic and comforting dimension for the 99% that have to work every day to make a living.
Definitely an interesting variation of Darwin law of natural selection…
Heidi was so beautiful before the plastic surgery.
🌟 Unforgettable 🌟
I cannot feel sorry for most of these rags-to-riches stories when it seems most could not handle their money (overspending). Money can make money but you need people who know how to do just that.
I’m sorry but WTF. Why can’t people that are rich maintain a normal life.

you're kidding, right ?
It's crazy TLC made a song called No Scrubs and they were the biggest Scrubs
😂😂😂
Damn … I was surprised with half of this list …
For some of these celebrities, they spent their money foolishly when they had a lot of it. SO, I don't feel sorry for them. If you don't put any away for retirement, because we all KNOW that only a VERY small percentage are STILL making a lot of money many years after their initial popularity.
Another mention: Paul Cattermole from S Club 7. After leaving the band, he tried different things, but he suffered a back injury which stifled his career, kept being rejected for reality TV for "not being famous enough" and was so broke he sold his Brit Award.
Who?
Rip
“Celebrity” is a stretch for some of these people
Hutchinson was in a horror western I saw a few years back. He was really good in it.
Shocked Doug is on here. Went to high school with him. Not shocked for the reasons he went broke. Doug was eccentric but nice.
I don’t class people from reality tv as celebs.
They are celebrities...they may not have talent but they are known.
Most likely when EVERYTHING comes out, Everyone on the Diddy List is going to lose EVERYTHING and rightly so.
Such poor money managers or choice of money managers. Financial knowledge is not just a given because you make money
Without watching number 1 is the Diddler or Deyonta West
I wonder what "making significant changes to their lifestyle and curbed unnecessary spending" means to multi millionaires.. especially when Pratt says they will be "...Selling a lot of crystals" to keep up with the lifestyle.
Use disorder????? let's make it sound nice! LOL, what a joke! Drug and alcohol abuse!
Not sure if she would count as a celebrity (I mean, you included reality stars on this list....), but Susan Powter? I saw on an Inside Edition video a few months ago where she's gotta make ends meet by being an Uber Eats driver. :(
None of these are tragic unless they were under age and being taken advantage of parents or the record label cheating them but other than that, I don’t care about any of these people losing money.
TLC, record label, Gary Coleman, parents.
Tammy Lynn Sytch aka Sunny From The WWE New Generation Era after her husband Chris Candido died In 2005 In TNA I think she just went off the rails sans a few WWE returns now It looks like she has a lengthy prison sentence after she ran over someone with a car or something I honestly don't remember the crime Itself
It was a DUI
I thought Sly Stone won a multi million dollar settlement from his record company.
I hope so 💯
Doug losing everything was justified….. dating minors is disgusting behavior.
TLC going broke wasn't there fault

Sounds like corrupt management.
I could certainly survive on 16,000 per month. Some of these cases are sad, others i have little sympathy
Gary Busey was considered "normal" during the time of the Buddy Holly movie....?
He was able to control it when off set. The brain injury took that control away from him.
@CassandraY He looked to be nuts at the time of the filming.
@@Swilla12 He was always a little too good at the 'unhinged' character for it to only be acting. My point is that he was able to control the 'insanity' before the crash. He couldn't control it after and that's where his life started sliding.
@@CassandraY Maybe he started using painkillers after the accident. Don't they sometimes take the control away from people?
@@Swilla12 Maybe if he was taking straight morphine, but no. Busey and his family have been very open about how his behavior change was due to the TBI, which is really common
Just figured out that I don’t drink too much…I have substance abuse syndrome
You forgot Charlie, Sheen, and Michael Jackson
I don’t feel bad for Dennis Rodman since he did his kids dirty
Spencer and Heidi were douches during that time holy shit lol
( substance use disorder ) thats a new one is it ?
No….it’s been in the DSM for quite a while.
I blew all my cash syndrome disorder 🙄
It's another bullshit term being bandied about to avoid any responsibilty for your own actions - "It's NOT MY FAULT...I have a 'disorder'".
Boogie Nights was his best role ever!
It’s a shame Burt Reynolds’s went out like that. There wasn’t anyone I wanted to be more when I was 5yo, I’ve spent my entire life owning Trans Ams and running from the police. RIP The Bandit❤
