G'day from Queensland Australia, I can not believe you don't have more subscribers considering you give out such detailed information. Please keep going the way you are.
I'm glad to see someone else practicing the "Adhoc Shop Build" philosophy. Shops grow organically with use and according to the shop owner's experience. I see way too many shop builds that look fantastic, but seem to be a logistical nightmare. Kudos to you for showing us your thought process and execution based on your needs. Also a tire plugging tutorial would be FANTASTIC!!! :D
'Adhoc Shop Build' - I like that description. I built my 30x40x12 back yard shop about 5 years ago. I have been doing miscellaneous shop improvements since the day I 'finished' it. I have yet to insulate or sheet rock any of it, as I am still adding wiring here or framing there.
I'm currently working out of my 24x24 garage. I shelved it out and packed as much as I could into it for five years. Finally saved up enough to buy a 40ft container and now I'm saving to insulate the garage. We hit 107 today and I had to rescue my friend because one of the trucks broke down trying to dump a salvage boat at the landfill. I want that garage insulated ASAP but need to come up with $2600 to get it done. I don't have the means for a $120,00 shop so I'll keep working towards insulation in my mini shop/The ________East Hardware Store. It's a running joke that when people call, I've got it, And it saves an hour round trip to town.
Thats a neat idea. Not to be pedantic but keeping with the educational vibes of colt's videos if you're looking to get DC out of AC supply then you need a converter to my knowledge. Inverter is the opposite and will provide AC out of DC supply.
A little tip Colt before using your grinder on aluminum or plastic take a bar of soap and hit it quickly with the grinder and it will help to keep your disk from clogging up and a smoother finish without the crumbs of plastic or aluminum!
Aloha Colt and thanks for showing your shop build! Your channel is becoming one of my favorite show to watch and now cannot wait for the next one you put out!!!
That Yukon banner is sweet with all the signatures, Ian the OG rock crawler builder could be a valuable signature one day, just saying. RIP Jessi Combs
Gotta say, I always really enjoy the shop build and organization videos! It's interesting to see the planning and thoughts of how it's going to come together. Plus, it gives folks ideas for their own shop. This build has been especially great, because it's attainable for people. This is a shop you and your son are building, and you're doing the planning and executing, running around for materials, trying to reuse and salvage items, and finding solutions on the cheap. This isn't being funded by sponsorship handouts, or large installation businesses - just a father and son putting in the sweat equity. Much respect, Colt!
Dude you deserve that shop. You are a great builder and I enjoy information. Plus smoke show is one of my favorite truck. Mom spaghetti is the other favorite. I’m glad you got your own show. You get tired of smoke show I’ll give it a good home lol.
If you want the underside of the over door shelf clear, use a wire rope to the upper roof truss (you could also put a turnbuckle in the cable stay to increase tension if required).
Good video, the bench extension for the drill press i would sheet with 1/4 steel ,stronger an easy to clean. The ladder up is in the way, I would hinge it or just make a temporary ladder that fits on when you need it. Good overall job, however i am concerned that eventually ,within a year the shop will be to small an require doubling in size . fyi
About that floating corner on your shelf . make a triangular brace from corner to wall next to door. it will hold almost as much weight as a post and you dont loose floor space. Thanks for a great channel , your narration is top notch.
Remember you may back in to a post at the door . A small cable going to the ceiling or the wall . Will totally save room. It a small shelf. You really don’t need to get to crazy brother.
As someone close to your size, I'm 6'6 and have gone from 411lbs to under 250lbs. Congrats on the weight loss. And the shop is coming along nicely. I'm in Tennessee so pretty sure our plate is on your wall lol
It would probably be a good idea to add some safety chains on those shelves. Wood likes to do weird things with the weather. Maybe get a piece of Uni-Strut to lay across the rafters to hang the chain from??
I wish I had all your vertical space in my shop. Your shop is really coming together. I am looking forward to watching all the builds you will do inside of your new shop. Thank you for all the videos.
I love this Chan ❤ also I watch everybody like Robby L- MORR- FABRATS etc .but Colt is the only UA-camr I feel would b genuine and want to talk to his fans. Plus he’s def a smart dude . Love learning from this guy!!
We install a ship ladder to my dad’s mezzanine in his shop. Couple pulleys and a small electric winch to raise it up out of the way. Originally it had a manual boat trailer winch
Colt, building a shop out takes time and thought. I built out our entire shop at the hospital I worked at for us carpenters. It took alot of time and planning to make it functional in a limited space. Well done with yours!!!
Instead of using wood, I would run a cable from the corner all the way up. Don't know how much weight you want to throw on there, but 1/4" should be plenty strong.
A great feeling when you get your shop organized. I did mine over a long time - about 30 years - so it's very hard for others to find stuff, but for me it's reasonably easy because I built it.
For the platform above the door you could drop a post then build a wall that would return to the front wall. Add some peg board now you got a hat rack, coat rack, key rack whatever just extra space.
An old timer Buddy of mine gave me a complete set of F series shop manuals that would have been given to dealership from 1968-1987, they are like gold. If my shop was on fire screw the tools I'm grabbing those off the tool box.
Great video! Videos like these are why I started watching you guys. It's amazing how much stuff I've destroyed because I didn't know what I was doing and no patience.
Another great video, thanks for keeping things interesting. I did a fender chop on an old Jeep and kept the inner fenders out of the rear as well. Spray in bedliner will also help with the sound of things hitting the rear inner fender wells also. Keep up the great content.
Oh buddy!!! I hope I get the chance to meet you and shake your hand, when you come to Goldendale WA! Love the channel Colt!! All love and respect to you brother!!!
Don't forget to make that wood ladder OSHA compliant by putting vertical wood board spacers between the horizontal rungs. More sturdy too. Great job on the new shop!
Michigan has some beautiful wheeling! In the Upper peninsula, drummond island would be a great one of many trails and offroad parks we have to offer. You wont be disappointed
Shop is coming along nicely. Fender flares look better than the stock ones. Bulletpoint Mounting Solutions is no joke. I have their stuff in my '24 Frontier. The E-Bay jeep needs some Bulletpoint stuff.
Shop is looking great. I still say you should paint all that pegboard colt green. Also, that spot over the door would be a good place to mount the air compressor
My son had these till he barely rubbed a tree on his passenger rear. It took out the front portion of the fender base for the flare. Bushwacker doesn't have 'replacement' parts so he'd have to get all new complete flare kit. He upgraded to KBD flares. They are not as wide but still have the large well opening.
I bought my 10k lift from Aston Equipment. Good quality and a great price. You may want to check them out. Love the channel. Shop setup seems never ending in my experience.
I would like to make a suggestion. The ladder you built to the loft in your garage. To me it seems like it would be in the way where it is. My suggestion is, to move it up against the wall. It will hit your bench midway, and you can tie it in there for more security. It looks like it's out in the way where it is. You might need that room to swing something around while you have a car in there. Just a thought. I watch your channel all the time. I enjoy your content. I've never heard of a doubler until I started watching off road channels. You're a good teacher, Thank you.
Nice recap on the various buggies you have. My gut tells me a rear steer axle is simply a front axle mounted in the rear of the vehicle. If not, this would be a great subject in a future video. Been doing some research on propane engines. Love the points and counter-points you shared. Will be giving that shop a visit soon. Thanks for sharing.
When I work with my sons, I also pronounced knife the way you did. Must be a Dad thing. When i was on my way down from where my Dad had me climb, he'd say "Don't worry if you fall. I'll catch you on the second bounce." Thanks, Dad! Oh, Chilton manuals and Haynes manuals. Yup! I still have them.
G'day from Queensland Australia, I can not believe you don't have more subscribers considering you give out such detailed information. Please keep going the way you are.
Thank you, I appreciatethat. Hopefully people will continue to subscribe and hit the bell 😎👍
Ditto that! This is absolutely some of the BEST “how-to” content on all of UA-cam!!
Colt knows what he's doing and how to make it explainable to the masses of asses. 🤣😘🏆
The site is new but growing.
@@kevbev1524 He's also one of the Fab Recover Paint Etc guys whose ego hasn't become inflated }; )

You should put an inverter in the shop and put headlights in the grills on the wall, and then you can turn them on for accent lights.
Thats a neat idea. Not to be pedantic but keeping with the educational vibes of colt's videos if you're looking to get DC out of AC supply then you need a converter to my knowledge. Inverter is the opposite and will provide AC out of DC supply.
100% junkyard parts, budget, affordable, accessible builds, with the ton of tricks that comes with it
A little tip Colt before using your grinder on aluminum or plastic take a bar of soap and hit it quickly with the grinder and it will help to keep your disk from clogging up and a smoother finish without the crumbs of plastic or aluminum!
I've done that with aluminum for years, had no idea it worked for plastic too.
Pro tip: Use your speed square as a saw guide, 90 degree cuts every time!
Yes I'd love to see how you build one from start to finish out of some junkyard parts. You do an awsome job teaching and showing how things are done.
Aloha Colt and thanks for showing your shop build! Your channel is becoming one of my favorite show to watch and now cannot wait for the next one you put out!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I used cables and turnbuckles on the storage shelfs in my garage.
That Yukon banner is sweet with all the signatures, Ian the OG rock crawler builder could be a valuable signature one day, just saying. RIP Jessi Combs
Challenger seriously needs to hook you up with a new 2 post lift!
Yes please keep the builds affordable as possible . Junkyard builds are awesome.
Gotta say, I always really enjoy the shop build and organization videos! It's interesting to see the planning and thoughts of how it's going to come together. Plus, it gives folks ideas for their own shop.

Thank you Colt for sharing this with me ! Your shop is looking pretty good !
Gotta be every mans dream to have a big garage/workshop I know as sure as hell it’s one of mine
That S10 is still one of my favorite UA-cam builds. You and Dirt head Dave have the best builds.
Good video, the bench extension for the drill press i would sheet with 1/4 steel ,stronger an easy to clean. The ladder up is in the way, I would hinge it or just make a temporary ladder that fits on when you need it. I’ve got two samurai’s sitting in my yard… junkyard build would be fun to follow
Remember you may back in to a post at the door . A small cable going to the ceiling or the wall . Will totally save room. It a small shelf. You really don’t need to get to crazy brother.

Great job with the channel. Love what you're putting out. Disabled Vet wrench turning through you. Keep up the work. From Tennessee.
It would probably be a good idea to add some safety chains on those shelves. Wood likes to do weird things with the weather. Maybe get a piece of Uni-Strut to lay across the rafters to hang the chain from??
Great Idea with the uni-strut on the bottom. Rather than a chain I hung my old shelves with an all-thread attached to the rafters/trusses.
Cable hanging down also works. Like chain you can run it at an angle.
I still can’t believe you subscribed number’s. I would think you have more followers by now. I’ve been watching you for a minute
Only time will tell. Hopefully they just continue to keep going up.
Love your sons T shirt. "I hate Casey LaDelle "
Thanks for content, I enjoy your new channel.
I wish I had all your vertical space in my shop. Your shop is really coming together. I am looking forward to watching all the builds you will do inside of your new shop. Thank you for all the videos.
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽 Colt you have an awesome approach to everything.. love your videos.. very detailed.
Your videos are getting so much better.
You could've used aircraft cable from the corner up to the rafter for corner support an that way it doesn't take up much room
Definitely going to need some bigger tires on the Ebay jeep. I am really looking forward to the Pacer build. Great channel, keep up the good work.
Thanks! Will do!
Diggin' the shop Colt!! Looking more like a real shop.
I love this Chan ❤ also I watch everybody like Robby L- MORR- FABRATS etc .but Colt is the only UA-camr I feel would b genuine and want to talk to his fans. Plus he’s def a smart dude . Love learning from this guy!!

1/4 way more than enough
Commercial garage doors run on 5/32 or 3/16 cable. They can be 1000lbs
A great feeling when you get your shop organized. I did mine over a long time - about 30 years - so it's very hard for others to find stuff, but for me it's reasonably easy because I built it.
Love your shop, Colt!
very good video lots of neat ideas thanks
For the platform above the door you could drop a post then build a wall that would return to the front wall.
Add some peg board now you got a hat rack, coat rack, key rack whatever just extra space.
I really like these build videos. Shop builds, vehicle builds are the best.
Glad you like them!
That shop is RAD Colt, would love to have it. It's nice that Ian is helping you and learning. Thanks for the video bro 👍
I'm happy for you Colt! Can't wait to see the exciting things you build and share in you shop!!
Me too, thanks!
For the shelf over the door. Chain and eye bolts. You can readjust the tension and it makes the angle easy to do.
Another great video, thanks for keeping things interesting. I did a fender chop on an old Jeep and kept the inner fenders out of the rear as well. Spray in bedliner will also help with the sound of things hitting the rear inner fender wells also. Keep up the great content.
Yes, budget builds!! Not everyone can afford 100k for a toy. Thank you
Oh buddy!!! I hope I get the chance to meet you and shake your hand, when you come to Goldendale WA! Love the channel Colt!! All love and respect to you brother!!!
Yes!!!! Please build a budget buggy!!!!!!!!!!
Colt Builds It...... I watch it! That simple.
Don't forget to make that wood ladder OSHA compliant by putting vertical wood board spacers between the horizontal rungs. More sturdy too. Great job on the new shop!
great as always great content very entertaining
The shop is looking great! Love to see and and your son working together.
Thanks 👍
Yes on the vote for more awesome budget builds
Looking Great Colt!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Michigan has some beautiful wheeling! In the Upper peninsula, drummond island would be a great one of many trails and offroad parks we have to offer. You wont be disappointed
When you wire the lights in you should see if you can wire in led headlights into some of the grills!
that shelf over the door is perfect for an extra air tank.
Pro its can also run a barbecue grill! Lol Enjoying the hands on repairs, no skipping to end of repairs, great job on the transfer case video.
Can I just send my jeep to you and let you build it lol!? I love what you do and your style! Plus you do it on a budget but reliable!
3m makes a great rubberized under coating that works great for the rear inner fenders. Used on my jeep and all my trucks
Good idea on shelves Colt 👍🏻
Shop is coming along nicely. Fender flares look better than the stock ones. Bulletpoint Mounting Solutions is no joke. I have their stuff in my '24 Frontier. The E-Bay jeep needs some Bulletpoint stuff.
Shop is looking great. I still say you should paint all that pegboard colt green. Also, that spot over the door would be a good place to mount the air compressor
Colt you really need to through bolt all of the supports. Don't rely on the nails to support the weight.
Everything is screws or lags
You need an XJ grille too!! Shop looks great
My son had these till he barely rubbed a tree on his passenger rear.
That's a big transformation on the workshop, well done!
If you put your sawblade up to your mark and then slide the speed square up against the saw it makes it easy to cut straight and square.
Heck yeah I wanna see a budget buggy build!!
Great video Colt and Son I don’t know how his name is spelled, sorry. Thank you guys for sharing 👍
Thanks, Ian is a good kid
Hi Colt. Your new shop is coming together and looking good brother.
Thanks 👍
I would like to make a suggestion.
The ladder you built to the loft in your garage.
To me it seems like it would be in the way where it is.
My suggestion is, to move it up against the wall.
It will hit your bench midway, and you can tie it in there for more security.
It looks like it's out in the way where it is.
You might need that room to swing something around while you have a car in there.
Just a thought.
I watch your channel all the time. I enjoy your content. I've never heard of a doubler until I started watching off road channels. You're a good teacher,

Lookin good Colt !!!

For the shop you can use the Simpson Strong-Tie SD9212R100 #9 x 2-1/2" Structural Screw
Good morning I really like the garage set up a great way to add storage.
I hope you do a budget build when you get the on X build done
The garage is coming along nicely
Yes that would be awesome if you did a budget buggy build!!!
Hard working gettin it done.
Centerforce clutches wow I haven't heard that in a long time I run that in my Toyota truck great clutches 🤙😎
Shop is looking good 👍
And good morning
Another great video. Thanks
The shop is looking good colt. Keep it up man
Love that old drill press! I’ll send ya a picture of the sweet arbor press I scored off marketplace!!
All thread to the ceiling with some extra nuts along the way up for hanging other stuff.
Rock on Colt!!❤️🇺🇲
Yup, got my 33”s and immediately wished I had the 35”s, definitely a Jeep thing 😂
Shops looking awesome! Can't wait to see you guys put it to use
A 5 gallon bucket on a rope for lowering stuff from the mezzanine is handy.
Those old hysters are beast forklifts
Looking good, you make building look so easy!!!!
Nice shop 👍
Hay shop is looking great about your grills. Call Paul at fabrats, maybe he'll have what you are looking for in his part yard
Use threaded rods to super support your shelves. HD and LWS both have the angle iron anchors
Yes a buggy build would be great
