@@tombwaits27 At that time, Arriola, Nagbe, Wood. Wood was very much a B team player who needed to be fed. You got to roll with Dempsey to create early and often. Even if he could only go 55 minutes, you have to get out on the front foot. Arriola did well last cycle, but at the time he was just not finisher and very raw.
USA lost the game because of lack of squad depth. Any manager worth his salt would've replaced 3-5 players from the Panama game. The fact that Arena did not do so tells me they didn't have players he could trust.
Altidore is shockingly bad. He gave away the ball like 7 times needlessly in this first half, including just before the second goal (38:19) and he doesn't even try to help win it back at all. And he doesn't have "good aerial presence;" he missed like 10 headers this half as well. He is actually shit and I will never watch another game with him starting.
PANAMA SUCKS, LOS CANALEROS SUCKS... USA did not qualify for 2018 FIFA World Cup, did not enter the World Cup for the first time since 1986 after The Yanks' 2-1 loss to the crybaby poor Trinidad and Tobago at the hands of WWE Champion Jinder Mahal (who released by WWE in few weeks later on November 8, 2017)

@@joesakic91 You’re a dumbass if you think the U.S. is a successful team. Just because you don’t want to remember it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Emblematic of the lack of understanding of world futbol by Americans.
They played just four days ago and the players had dead legs. Usually the coach brings in a few lineup changes to deal with that but squad depth was nonexistent.
Yeah I’d rather play fresh legs than better players with tired legs. Depth is very important. Could have easily grinder out a draw with a less talented but fresher team that won’t play lazy on defense
And the ironic thing is, Mexico had just as bad a cycle in 2014 as we did here, but we scored last minute to save them. They beat the Kiwis in the IC playoff then made their customary RO16 exit (Si Era Penal btw). They love to make fun of us for this game but fail to remember that the same thing would have happened to them 4 years prior if it weren't for us.
No, the team could not score more goals to save the US, Believe me i was cheering for the usa to make it to the 2018 WC and my whole family was sad when united states got out.
16:30 Imagine Bobby Wood being a split second faster and deflecting this into the net.
That second goal pisses me off more than the first. I teach my youngsters that they cannot give up that much space to shooters. No urgency whatsoever.

Bruce needed to use fresh players in these rough conditions.
Experienced players like Dempsey and San Zusi should've started a game like this. Relying on green players to get a must-win-or-tie game? Come on!
Who was the "green" player in this match?

@spence Well you saw the game, Trinidad & Tobago won because they outplayed the United States.
Because you made us Trinidad and Tobago people pissed

The US may have done better with 10 men.
What are we doing?
Mexico, Panama & Costa Rica were proud to represent CONCACAF at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Heh Heh.

Fast forward to March 30, 2022 and the USMNT qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
2018 is a distant memory.
No it's not. This is typical of US soccer.

The thing with the USA they don't respect other team I was so happy when they got kicked out by t&t
I'm even happier to see the USMNT have their resurgence since October 10, 2017.
All 500 fans enjoyed the result
Amazing crowd. Who would be excited to play
There? No one we started out so had. Embarrassing all around. And the field was terrible
Didn't Mexico flub their result to keep USA out? I have no respect for that. I'll always root against them.
