I feel the same way. Mostly because of my bad experience during high school with people trying to pick on me even for a simple smile and so I ended up building a defense around me that might discourage those people. But later in life I feel it made me more distant from people.
Same and I'm a big 6'2 dude with tats who works as a service rep for a call line lol. People take one look at me and think I'm going to eat them lol. In all truth I wanted to do this job because I like helping people and making them feel welcome. People who talk with me over the phone would never know what I look like because of how I'm professional and even my boss says I sound very caring lol
then you have to control that anger..people are not mindreaders

I like how Sharkman is muscular while still having a wider build that suits his species. That's good character design that deviates from typical 'pretty boy' anime archetypes. In the same vein, I can appreciate how the dog girl isn't overtly sexualized or moefied and more accurately represents the 'coworker crush' trope. Both these characters feel more real because of these choices.

Fun fact: in Japan the skinny looking males are considered attractive and more appealing, that's why manga artists draw their male characters the way they do. It's the same for females.
My point being don't put western standards on foreign artists it just means you look like an asshole. Hell I would say don't put your standards on any artist and just let them choose their model for their characters but western society always wants things their way or they will complain, either with a mild complaint or blow it out of proportion. I just wish people enjoyed the art instead of nit pick inaccuracies in art.
@@Wolfbane1677 I wasn't complaining, I was appreciating that there seems to have been thought put into why these characters look and act the way they do. You can claim it's 'just the standard,' but standards mean nothing when mindlessly imitated where deviation can serve the art better. Japan has a lot of mediocre content like the rest of the world, and that mediocrity comes from mindless regurgitation like it does in the rest of the world. I will treat mediocre art as what it is and praise art that tries something new, regardless of what nation that art comes from.

I originally thought this was going to be one of those anime where the guy/girl looks super intimidating no matter what they are feeling and the other person mistakes their affection for aggression. However, this was a better message. Sometimes people's negative reactions are from phisical pain or discomfort and it's not about the other person. My girlfriend would always tell me I looked upset or emotionally distressed when what I was feeling was joint pain from my arthritis. It's good to keep this in mind when dealing with people.

This quality of animation is that of actual studios, this is an underrated channel.

Sharks have always been an underrated design when it comes to anthropomorphic characters. Really lovely design on this big fella, and I relate to him so much lol
There are many other creatures/animals that are just as underrated as Sharks. Heck, I rarely sees Orcas or even um, cryptids, even drawn or animated often (Jersey Devil, Michigan Dogman, Wendigos, Quetzalcolts, and Mothman are my top five favorite cryptids of all time, and they rarely ever get designed or drawn).

These two are absolutely adorable together! Hopefully we see more of this hsndsome shark fella and beautiful dog gal! Also, I think this pretty much confirms that one short was canon. While chubby leopard will be missed at least he's happy.
I don't think he has lost weight. Yes, that short is canon, but given how bloated this guy was, it would take a lot, a lot of time and effort to get skinny again. And if you take into account his love for junk food ... In general, it seems to me that this is a prehistory.

It's so hard to get to know people to eventually be friends.
Where Sharkman's scary expressions are the reason he can't come out his shell, in real life, it's very difficult to appear interested without being having anxiety of being overbearing or the opposite of acting calm but not seeming disinterested.
The people appriciate when you put in any effort, those are the right people.

The feelings in this are both personally relatable (I'm a bit wary of new acquaintances) and just darned sweet at the end.
I love this so much. Sometimes we simply miss understand because of a person's expression and are too shy to ask to delve further into understanding. I really felt that the shark was just a little socially awkward. 😂❤ Glad they came to an understanding.
