We visited beautiful Vienna last week and I got the chance to go to some of the amazing coffee houses that Vienna is known for. Viennese coffee house culture is very special and has a huge tradition. I'm sharing 6 beautiful cafés that I think are a must visit: Café Central, Café Gerstner, the museum's cafe at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Café Demel, Café Sperl & Café Sacher. Hey, Kirsten and Jörg. It seems nearly everybody is in Austria. My daughter is there too at the moment.She's in Salzburg....I' m a bit jealous.....really. Vienna and Salzburg are my favourite destinations. Indeed.I will surely travel there one time.
HELLO FROM TEXAS - I am a coffe culture person, and I enjoyed this video much. Knowing I will not be able to visit these grand places, I do my own thing making Italian cooked coffee as did my Grandmother. America lacks in beautiful coffee and tea houses, which is a sadness to me - because there is no where to go to really enjoy the beauty of coffee and tea making - in a wonderful atmosphere. BUT, if I must say, and I will....I make delicious coffee, and did my testing result whereby I don't bother buying coffee in the run down places here in America. My own coffee is really delicious and look forward to it everyday!!!
WE ARE CELEBRATING THE 4TH OF JULY HERE, and I make sure I have my delights before 3 PM. Thank you both for this grand and fabulous tour of these rare places, that most people don't even know they exist. Be safe out there, love to both of you.
Never say never! You can take a 2 day vacation and spend maybe 1,800-2,350 but at least you got to be there!❤❤😊

Wow, Kirsten, seeing Vienna through your eyes is such a wonderful treat! What a beautiful country; and the shops are incredible! The architecture is indeed charming and amazing! I feel as though I want to buy a beautiful gown to wear at a ball in Vienna. So many stunning buildings! So aristocratic! I love vintage style postcards too. My favourite ones are of landscape or floral paintings, and vintage advertising signs, and posters. I’ve started collecting them again.

I love those Coffee houses in Europe. Not seen in the states with the lovely architecture. I dont think one could call Starbucks a Coffeee house and it is not on the level of the Coffee Houses in Austria
Oh lol no, Starbucks isn’t a coffee house. We do get a chai tea latte there once in a while though which is good.
It`s like comparing McDonald`s with a fine dining restaurant 😆
Of course you won't find this type of architecture in the United States, because it's relatively a new country; compared to the likes of Europe. ❤😊
Hahaha so true about Starbucks. The US in general doesn't seem to have old world charm. I'm sure there are some places that do but Europe does. I'm not making fun of the US. That's where I live. Just saying...
I love all your videos ..they bring me great joy...because of the subjects you choose and the fine/calm presentatation...the atmosphere that the two of you deliver is "Balsam für die Seele".
I used to live in the UK ( London) for quite some time-when I was a classical ballerina at the ENO..and went to the countryside every free minute. I wished I had known you back then...for all your suggestions where to go...

I needed a table, so in June I bought a beautiful Georgian mahogany tea table in very good condition and an amazing antique pictorial handwoven Persian rug in excellent condition. I would like to buy a china tea set too with a nice teapot. I love the craftsmanship in antique items; to know that someone hand-crafted something makes it very special to me. Esterhazy Schnitten is possibly my favorite pastry. I’ve even tackled baking it myself here in the US. A challenge, but exquisite!

I think I was drooling through this whole video. Could smell the coffee, taste the cakes. North America (I'm in Canada) has nothing to compare. I was in Vienna a number of times years ago and people would sit for hours in the cafes. Newspapers were on wooden holders so they wouldn't get creased or torn. I'm surprised that you weren't given a slice of lemon with your tea. That's usually the way they drink it. Tha filming and music was perfect as always.
What a beautiful city. 💐🍰 Now I understand why it was a favorite place of my grandparents and why they went back to it so often ❤.
Oh and don’t you just love the sound of horses in the street combined with old buildings? 🙂

We went to Vienna 3 years back and loved all the cakes and being an Architect , admired the stunning Architecture around Veinna , Salzburg. So stunning rich the rich History of these cities. And the Art of my!

This video was absolutely wonderful! My daughter and I visited Vienna a couple months ago and had an amazing time. It was a trip of a lifetime that I will never forget. I too had more cake than I normally eat but enjoyed every bit of it!

Oh How I have loved Vienna when I was there...46 years ago with my family ! I was a teenager and appreciated so much the strudels and Wiener Schitzel... the cakes are beautifully stunning and I think it is difficult not to eat one...Vienna is also a gorgeous city, so cleaned, so romantic and people so kind. Vienna is beyond beautiful! It is such an elegant historical city with so much to offer all of the senses! If it weren't for the long queues, it would be one exquisite experience after another. In our senior years now our travelling is much less but Vienna is a place I wish we had visited. When a child I grew up near an impressive theatre. One thing I always loved was the Strauss waltzes always played before shows and in the intervals. So even when a “very” young English schoolgirl, I knew of the lovely music’s link to Austria and Vienna. The coffee houses look wonderful within that classy architecture. Thank you Kirsten and Joerg for letting us accompany you. And all those cakes!!

Oh thank you so much for touring the cafes of Wien. Im 76, my mom was born in Vienna 1906 but family after WW! Immigrated to America 1921. My grandfather was a chef at The Bristol. They lived in one of those beautiful buildings you showed in an apartment in the city. My youngest daughter now lives in England, so when I visited her in 2019, she and I for first time went to Vienna for just 4 days. I fell in love with mom‘s homeland. A Viennese gentlemen on the flight to Vienna recommended Cafe Central. You filmed it beautifully. Cafe Melange like your husband, I ordered it and loved it. We had a divine breakfast there, as well as several other cafes during our stay. Thank you, it brought back some wonderful memories of a beautiful, warm and inviting city.🇦🇹

What a charming video. Every New Year's Day I watch the Concert from Vienna Opera when they play Strauss and sometimes have Ballet dancers. The city architecture is stunning, and very unspoilt. If Freud returned he could still recognise his birthplace . I can imagine you two would've fit into the intellectual cafe scene there in decades past. 😊

I have been to Vienna and the thing I remember the most was the amazing cakes and the coffee culture. I was a child so didn't fully appreciate the architecture etc but a beautiful place to visit and particularly at night it looks stunning, it's lit up so nicely.
I wish I could like this a thousand times. Another wonderful experience we get to share. Vienna is on my bucket list. Beautiful job Kirstin, but don’t jeopardize your long-term health consuming gluten for the sake of a video.

I love Vienna, love the Sachertorte but prefer Cafe Sperl to Demel or Sacher Cafè... well, it's just that too many people in the queue is a good reason to choose to leave, 45' of waiting is a penalty that I don't like to pay to nobody

Café Sperl is so special! Yes, we could have booked a table at the Sacher but we didn’t because we didn’t know when we would go so it was fine. 15 minutes waiting time at Demel wasn’t bad at all.

Thank you for taking us along with you ! One of my favorite artists is Gustav Klimt and a few years ago we visited his Woman in Gold painting at the Neue Galerie on 5th Avenue , New York City . . It's in a beautiful Gilded Age mansion and they replicated a Vienna coffee house in part of it . Unfortunately we didn't have time to stay and have coffee and cake . What a lovely treat to see this beautiful city . I must visit there ! 💕🙏🇨🇦

I feel your pain with misbehaving with pastries when traveling. I am allergic to eggs so generally only places with vegan options work. But it’s worth the pain to cheat a little bit. Thankfully my husband is understanding about the consequences later in the evening lol. Thank you for the wonderful tour, every place was so beautiful.
Yes, I’m allergic to wheat flour and wheat protein which is why I have to stay away from it. I felt quite bad for a day after the cake which reminded me once more why I have to avoid it. It was worth it though.
I was on a River Cruise in France with a woman with many food allergies especially seasonings like pepper. It was fine on the boat but the restaurants especially the waiters were annoyed. They did not like substitutions period....

@@KirstenJoerg She had a duffle bag of food items she had to bring. I tasted one of her glutin free crackers. What a chore to travel. I recall she wore a mask in churches due to the molds and dust. She said she had this condition for years. All her food had to be plain. She was frustrated when her substitutions even given prior to dining were ignored. Thank you for responding. ♥️
Vienna is full of beautiful architecture. Breathtaking really! How delightful visiting and partaking in the coffee cafes. Looks delicious and felt I could almost smell the coffee aroma. Thanks you two. Very enjoyable indeed.

Thank you both (again)! I got an extra holiday day off because work is so slow. First I discovered Mackinac Island in Michigan on UA-cam and saw the Grand Hotel and their "secret garden," which are gorgeous, and then I saw this wonderful video of Vienna. Staying air-conditioned in my place while it's roasting outside and "traveling" on UA-cam. Missing only the smells and tastes !!! The first coffee shop (Central) with the pillars was such a grand building !!!
This brings me back to about 20 years ago when I visited Vienna...and the coffeehouses. The coffee was some of the best I've ever tasted, and their pastries are out of this world! The city is beautiful, the gardens amazing, the people are lovely. I have such wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Blessings to you both.
Absolutely love the Vienna you showed us! It was like going on a little vacation. The weather today was hot, I was grouchy and I had to sit by a fan. But this well-filmed video of Vienna in the sunshine, and the views of the interiors of coffeehouses and museum brought me to happy places. I think Vienna is a beautiful city that's good for the soul! Wish every big city in the world could be like that. And though my diet is restricted for health reasons, I just loved seeing all the gorgeous pastries. I had Sachertorte a long time ago, and I'll never forget how much I enjoyed it! 😋

Those desserts look divine. And the packaging always gets me as well. I bought 4 slabs of fudge on Mackinac Island just to get the box with the picture on it I wanted.

This looks so good, I've never been to Vienna but I really want to go since I love coffee-houses like that and also I love Classical Music and there's so much history related to that in the city.

So glad you like it! Yes, although I'm allergic to wheat flour, wheat protein and spelt, I tried the cake but paid the price for it a day later. Luckily it wore off after 24 hours.
