The American Road Scholar tour company sponsored a musical tour of Vienna. Evenings were spent at concerts, day trips to see soloist perform and give history of musicians who wrote and taught in Vienna. It was terrific, plus the museums and churches.😂 my fave city.
I watch the Neujahr Konzert every year, as i did with my mom when i was still living at home. It brings tears to my eyes. My son visited Vienna shortly some years ago and said he'll return one day and take a photo of the konzert hall for me ❤
Thanks for the wonderful "vacation"! Just an FYI the Riesenrad was used as a location in the fabulous 1949 British film "The Third Man" which takes place in post war Vienna. A great noir movie with scenes throughout the city even in the sewer tunnels! One of the best British films made starring Joseph Cotten and Orson Welles, worth a watch. Enjoy!

Vienna was on my “bucket list” for a very long time. Finally, made it two years ago. I didn’t have much time, so I loved seeing what I missed. I did go to a wonderful concert at that beautiful theater. I also loved my trip to Prague during that same trip. The stunning baroque architecture is my favorite style. I was in heaven.💓

Vienna has never been on my radar. I’ve visited a number of cities and countries and now I’m baffled as to why I’ve never known more about Vienna-just gorgeous. It’s on my “bucket list” now!

Your reference to the friendly waiter and his typical Viennese charm made me laugh. Here in the US, Viennese waiters are famous for being grumpy! I bet being able to speak to them in their native language makes a difference.

I was poor & in my early 20s when I visited Vienna many years ago. I couldn't afford much but did treat myself to a Viennese breakfast and a night at the Opera. I still talk about the beautiful Swarovski crystal chandeliers, gold, blue and white decor of the Vienna Opera house, so elegant. I spend hours wandering through the streets, gardens and riding the trams. I've been to many places since that trip and Vienna is still one of my favourite cities.

Love, love Vienna! Another stunning video. The first time I was in New York City, I wanted to ride the carriage through Central Park, but my husband (who had been there on business many times) insisted it was for tourists. As far as I was concerned, I was a tourist. Needless to say, we took the carriage, and it was an amazing way to see the park!

What a grand time that was. You guys really know how to bring a weekend trip to an armchair traveler. Such beauty around every corner, not to mention the patterned block roadway. I have some Belgium blocks, my dad salvaged some when a street in Baltimore City was beginning replaced, they are a treasure.

My grandmother was born there in 1910, and although I am a grandmother myself I hope to see this beautiful city soon. I absolutely love you both!
We went on a carriage ride in Vienna when we were there in May! We went into Peterkirche and they were having an organ concert , so we stayed and listened to the beautiful pipe organ music. We also went to Hofburg Palace and saw the horses at the Spanish riding school. We loved Vienna and definitely will be back! Vienna is such an elegant city! Great video!
How wonderful! I went to the Spanish Riding school last time and loved it. Sadly we would not be able to film for UA-cam there which is why we didn’t have it on our list for the video.
Delightful and delicious.. that Thai dinner looked so good! The Belvedere palaces were magnificent.. and lovely music 🎶 throughout Kirsten and Joerg! As a music teacher, I loved seeing the Symphony Hall.. I believe Alma Deutscher conducts there sometimes? We saw her here in America a few years ago.. such talent!! She and her family moved from UK to Vienna to be near the Masters’ city!! 🎶🥰🎶

Of all the cities of the world, Vienna tops my list of places to visit. Being a classically trained pianist, the music history and culture would be so wonderful to experience. Visiting the places “ The Sound of Music” was filmed…. So beautiful.❤️🎶❤️

I can’t travel so i have told them they will be my eyes and so happy shows us the beauty ,love those two my great grandfather came from Germany and I know I have family there so when they go to Germany it lets me see how they lived and how beautiful it is ,,they tell some history were ever they go I love them with joy

Stunning! Everything from the food to the architecture was just exquisite! So much culture and beauty (and very little vehicle traffic) - Vienna is truly a people-friendly, walkable city! I can't think of a better way to see the city - the carriage ride was perfect - not tacky at all! It was more like time-travel tourism!
The interior of the Belvidere matched the ornate exterior. What beautiful buildings! And the garden - WOW!
I much prefer the old enclosed Ferris wheel cars! The view must have been incredible! The rest of the amusement park looked very modern.
The narrow streets with all the potted flowers are lovely. You are so right - the neighbourhood looks like a little village.
The National Library is my idea of heaven!

I am always suspicious of carriage rides, but the horses look calm and relaxed and well cared for and it looks very professional. Yes, when horse riding or in carriage it is a very different perspective and why many love it.

Ich liebe Palais Ferstel. Die Nationalbibliothek, und die Peterskirche ist großartig. ( am Platz dort ist ein wunderbares Parfumgeschäft mit eigenen Kreationen ) Hundertwasser ist interessant und phantasievoll, aber nicht mein Geschmack. Würde gut nach Barcelona passen😊. Ich wohne ganz in der Nähe vom Belvedere. Es hat einen netten Botanischen Garten. Den Prater meide ich, aber ich liebe das Riesenrad. Oh und Spittelberg - Weihnachtsmarkt am Spittelberg ist ein Muss. Bin als Wienerin schon oft mit dem Fiaker gefahren, meistens zu Anlässen, finde aber dass im Hochsommer keine Fiaker fahren sollten wegen der Pferde bei der Hitze. Am Naschmarkt kaufe ich immer Blumen von Wiener Gärtnereien. ( ein bisschen teuer ) gehe gerne essen dort. Und vieles mehr. Ihr habt das großartig gemacht. ( Wien hat sich leider etwas verändert, aber welche Stadt hat das nicht… ) und ich freu mich jedesmal auf eure Videos❤❤😊
Vielen Dank! Das stimmt, wir mögen auch nur das Riesenrad so wirklich auf dem Prater! Über die Agentur, wo wir das Fiaker gebucht haben, stand extra, dass sie bei heißen Temperaturen nicht fahren dürfen. Ich hatte mich an dem Tag sogar etwas falsch angezogen, mir war etwas kalt. Ja, wir waren auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt am Spittelberg damals. Ich war einen ganzen Monat in Wien zur Weihnachtszeit als Jörg dort gearbeitet hat. Es war super! Viele liebe Grüße
