I'm on my third episode and I'm starting to cry a little. I remember this from when I was six, a time of innocents and this show was one of my favorites I looked forward to it every weekend. thank you Mr. Varney RIP sir.
As far as I'm concerned, Jim Varney was and remains to be the ONLY man to pass as a man-child and NOT BE PEDO-CREEPY! Pee Wee ruled, but Jim totally OWNED it! See you in paradise, Varney... :D
1:08 Hey Vern! Today's your lucky day, we knew you wouldn't wanna oversleep, Vern; We only do it once a week, Vern; Me and all the other guys, Vern; We even brought the 🥧 , Vern! It's the Ernest P. Worrel with a story and a moral and a big chunk of hip, trip, double-dip, super supreme show! You know what I mean? NO! Hey Vern, we moved your furniture and now we're here to fire up the barbeque, Vern; We owe it all to you, Vern! But now you gotta move, Vern! Hey Vern! Hey Vern! Hey Vern! It's me! I'm on 📺!
Why thank you sir....but you would think after two years and 6 responses to my comment that I would have one by now. But I should have waited the two years to get it in the cheap bin I suppose instead of paying a bit over 5$.
My parents and older sister hated this guy and his comedy 🙄. I never knew anyone else who did either. From family to friends at school I got the "you are stupid polar bear for liking this guy" attitude. 😢 It wasn't until my adulthood when I found people all over the world loved Jim Varney and his work like I did. But apparently in my little section of Illinois nobody knew him or if they did they hated him.
This and Pee-Wee's Playhouse were the greatest for late 80s Saturday mornings kids programs, outside of any cartoons, on CBS. I'm glad Mill Creek Entertainment released this onto DVD back in January of 2011. Last time I ever seen any of these episodes air on TV was back in 1992 or 1993 on the Original Family Channel. Way before it was either Fox Family or ABC Family. Since then, I never saw them air on any channel anywhere.
Ohhhh man so many childhood memories that come up from watching shows like this memories that I totally forgot about and it took something like this to bring it all back to that feeling again
I can see a lot of similarities to Bill Nye The Science Guy in this. I also remember Jim Varney and his character Ernest P. Worrell and I really enjoy his style of comedy. But, this show looks like that they wanted Varney to use Ernest to compete with Paul Reubens' Pee-Wee Herman as this show (as I discovered) was showing around the same time as Pee-Wee's Playhouse.
Omg I had tot forgotten about this show. The movie too!! I just remember the one scene where the monster runs to Earnest and hops into his arms and gives him a kiss. Going to look it up now 😁
Reminds me of an animated emoticon I like to send to people. A little guy jumps up on his boss and hugs him and kisses him and says, with a big grin on his face, "Happy Boss Appreciation Day."

"Ernest! Ernest! Run for your life! It's... It's the Boogey Man!"
(Runs up the stairs) "AAAAAAAAAH!!!!"
-- Hilarious!
"he's horrible - he's insincere!" is one of the best lines in anything ever
😆😆
I remember watching that show when I was 21 and and still do! Hey Vern, It's Ernest! 15 years after his death, Ernest P Worrell lives on! God Bless!
Miss Jim. Hope his family is doing OK
Thank you for uploading this, id have never found these treasures ever again..
You can find the DVD on Amazon.
This man was a national treasure.
When Ernest runs up the stairs at 9:11 It kills me every time!!
Ernest running up the stairs at high speed at 9:07 from the boogey man was the funniest thing ever!
🤣🤣🤣
As far as I'm concerned, Jim Varney was and remains to be the ONLY man to pass as a man-child and NOT BE PEDO-CREEPY! Pee Wee ruled, but Jim totally OWNED it! See you in paradise, Varney... :D
7:55 is a great moment in total absurdism. Oh man... I just about died laughing! Thanks for sharing this great old video!
I love how Ernest would wear the same things each day.
You have to admire the sheer strangeness and randomness of this.
I do that’s also why I love Garfield & Friends .
8:16 dust bunny is funny
Hey Vern!
Vern: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED?!?
I love Ernest movies :D they were the best

Oh man, feels like I'm 5 years old all over again and watching my Saturday morning cartoons.
I remember seeing this as an extra in the late 90's/ early 2000 when they aired 'Earnest Scared Stupid' was aired on KTLA on a Halloween sunday.
Blacktime E-Press Maybe it was on 1999. Or was it 1993?
I'm pretty sure it was 1999. That was quite an afternoon.

Ernest reminds me of Daffy Duck for SOME reason lol

@maxcardun They released the whole series on a 2-disc DVD set earlier this year.

Best saturday morning lineup ever: Muppet Babies, Hey, Vern..., New Adventures of Mighty Mouse. Not necessarily in that order.
