Recently while shopping with my 7 year old daughter I came across an Earnest dvd 3-pack (Camp, Jail, Scared Stupid) and had to buy it. My kids were like who is this and were a little sketchy at first but halfway through Earnest Goes to Camp they were hooked. His comedy is truly timeless. They got really excited when I told them he used to have a tv show I watched every Saturday morning where you got to see a lot of his "characters". I have to find that on dvd now I guess
I absolutely LOVE Jim Varney. May he rest in peace. Gone but never forgotten. They need to make an Ernest DVD collection with all of his movies including "Hey, Vern. It's Ernest." I would definitely buy them all :)
When I was 4or 5 i called all neabors vern because of this show 😂 my parents thought it was cute so never corrected me ,i miss this kind of entertainment ,real ,wholesome and funny 💖
0:37 Hey Vern! Today's your lucky day, we knew you wouldn't wanna oversleep, Vern; We only do it once a week, Vern; Me and all the other guys, Vern; We even brought the 🥧 , Vern! It's the Ernest P. Worrel with a story and a moral and a big chunk of hip, trip, double-dip, super supreme show! You know what I mean? NO! Hey Vern, we moved your furniture and now we're here to fire up the barbeque, Vern; We owe it all to you, Vern! But now you gotta move, Vern! Hey Vern! Hey Vern! Hey Vern! It's me! I'm on 📺!
The girl talking to Willie the Robot in the clothing store is Debi Derryberry, who later did the voice of Jimmy Neutron (and many other animated characters.) Debi also played Skeeter the Clown on Hey Vern It's Ernest; this is the only sketch in which she appeared out-of-character.
4:27 Jim Varney and Daniel Butler (Earl the Barber) plays a great sketch. Each time Ernest asks a "Wall Street Tycoon", the barber always misunderstands him. In this episode, Earl hold the clipper in the right hand, hides Ernest, left him cap and start the haircut! When i watched this show, i thought then this sketch is rolled in a real barbershop...
6:12 is wicked funny. I recorded this episode on an audio cassette tape when it first aired! My brother and I listened to it all the time and still quote the lines. Crazy to see it again.
wow I watched this whenever I got the chance and always looked forward to the next episode, Dr. Otto and Auntie Nelda were my non Ernest faves. wow I'm actually tearing up a bit. memories.....
"I've got cobwebs all over me, Vern! I'm gonna be eaten alive by cobs!" LOL
R.I.P. Jim Varney. This show needs a proper DVD release to honor his memory.

Wow. Debi was channeling an early 80's Sean Lennon with that one.
Same here, and I actually WANTED some of those Earl haircuts.
