    This looks like the coolest career in my humble opinion. Beats being stuck in one place 8hrs a day. The wilderness alone has me hooked. The locomotives are a definite bonus.

    • @TrainTrackTrav

      Yep. The soldered joints on those RVB horns never lasted long with the vibrations on the roof of a locomotive.

      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER  2 роки тому +1

      They were never designed for rail use, just work sure warning horns, but ended up on them, and they are iconic for all the bad reasons.. 😂

    Hey Aussie train driver, the music at the end of this video is sad, whilst observing the vacant rusty rail Albury rail yard and the turn table and derelict fuel tanker, I recall when that train was running as a regular service, we uncoupled our VR Loco usually a new X Class as we called them, then over to the t/table spin around and back to Wodonga light engine to sign off on a rest job, this may include the Daylight or Spirit of Progress train, as a Dynon Crew it usually was the intercapital daylight. Sad these are now only heritage trains these days, gone is the days of the 'VR', thanks for the memories

    Same as the US, thanks. I follow another guy down there who videos trains Special Agent Fox Molder. I noticed a lot of similarities between trains down under and here. A lot of the same signals, operating practices, equipment etc. 39 year veteran on the Santa Fe here in the US.

    Seconding Aussie Johns comments--well done mate on this one! Color balance,-and you know how picky I am with that :)--exposure and selective focus were all perfect as was choice of music too. And I really liked the head-on shots looking back too. Great job!

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER  2 роки тому

      Cheers mate! I had to do a bit of colour correcting, the gopro footage can be a bit if work but it's not too bad provided it doesn't over expose the image. At least you can see what's going on.

    • @nickwoop4153
      @nickwoop4153 2 роки тому

      @@AUSSIETRAINDRIVER Yes agreed, its very hard work to fix footage thats over exposed and GoPro's tend to highly saturate certain colors which if your trying to grade to match to your other brand cams can be difficult. Was it the the other side of the track at 2:03 that you had issues with over exposure? It looked a bit compressed, but still looks ok. The overcast skies are always hard with a GoPro as it lifts up the dark spots, thus overexposing the bright spots which mostly you dont want. But all in all, nice work mate well done :)

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER  2 роки тому

      @@nickwoop4153 yeah I've had a few issues with the lap top freezing While editing. I'm not overly happy with it, even though it's a pro gaming pcu.
      I use a log profile on the go pro but I need to be able to set it for each scene especially when the weather changes, the hand held cameras do that much easier, sad part is my phone edits videos easier, I just insert a usb card reader and upload the footage, it's so easy and still retains quality, so I'd expect the lap top to do that at least.

    Another cracking vid, fond memories of shunting them both at Sydney terminal after they were brought up from the car sheds running locos around via the middle road, the running then pushing the empties back onto their baggage vans being loaded at the baulks ready for the run South

There is a two page article in the May 2022 Newsrail magazine written by Victorian Rail Publishing in conjunction with the team at the Newport Railway Museum (I am a volunteer) who spoke to Mr John Crofts, Seymore Railway Heritage Centre President, about the circumstances leading up to this historic operation. Many thanks and stay safe. Cheers Lee.

    On the S class, there's a smaller notch that has 1 & 2 and a Dynamic Brake setting, do you know what the difference is for the the two number settings? Used that kind of control stand in Simulators, but never knew the difference between the 1 & 2.

    • @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER
      @AUSSIETRAINDRIVER  2 роки тому +1

      These have 1- OFF - B
      1 being power, off being throttle controller isolated, and B is dynamic braking.
