Apologies for the lack of shooting footage. I need a tabletop tripod as the target was barely visible in my shooting footage due to the low angle. Will work on that for my next trip to the range. Range Officer was fine with me filming so long as I kept the camera on the shooting table/tray. I may take this back out for a second test at my home range outside.
Had the CMD since 1st introduced. My 1st 1911.and has been great. Solid as my decades old P89 😃 I have been very happy with Rugers
Overall they are a great value for the money. They always seem to be towards the middle or upper middle price point for the different categories they fill in the firearms market.
Solid 1911!!! Good Stuff!!! Thanxs for the Range Update!!! Rock On!!! 😀😀
weedXD38 thanks for watching!
The best value 1911 out there! I like the federal brass of aluminum for range but for defense I support our home state manufacturer Hornady!
Yeah, I will be picking up some Critical Defense and as always, it is always best to keep our money in Nebraska, LOL!
Glad to see my sr1911 isn't the only one that shoots high from the factory.
It does take a steady hand to shoot it well.
Before I started reloading I’d use that federal aluminum ammo all the time through my sr1911. Great gun 👍🇺🇸
Good to know! I hear it runs well and did for me!
Jesse B is the number one reaso. I have the Ruger 1911. He is me 1911 Hero Travis
King Pin 🤣 thanks David 👍🇺🇸
@@kingpin7673 Awesome!
Great video Travis!!!!
Once again your influence has pushed me to get another 1911
The 1st one was the Taurus pt1911 which I have enjoyed VERY much over the past year....
Thanks for your hard work!! 👍👍
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, that Taurus 1911 was a blast to shoot and it ran very well! I toiled for months over which 1911 to go with and the finish/overall look of the SR1911, combined with David Bowling's review sold me on it!
@@travisp11 I do agree that the "fit & finish" on the SR1911 is pretty bad ass!
@@ryanbrown938 I saw no imperfections whatsoever on my copy. You pay a bit more than other 1911s but it is money well spent.
@@travisp11 again....I concur...
At this point in time pricing is a MAJOR factor for me as I am currently working towards my Gunsmithing degree... When I 1st gained interest into the craft I had no idea that acquiring majority of the tools (minus the firearms) had such a high cost... Now that my knowledge of AR's, revolvers, pump action and break open shotguns, bolt & lever action rifles, and striker fired semi auto pistols are almost "peaked" I figured 1911's and reloading would be next on the menu...
Again.. Thanks for the influence on pushing my education to another level... #lifelongsub!
@@ryanbrown938 Get your degree, learn how to checker an I will send you my 1911 for custome engraving. Im serious.
I think you picked a good variety of ammunition to test the pistol with. I run pretty much anything through my SR1911. I try to use my reloads, as that is the most affordable option, but if I do not have time to reload, I go with ammunition on sale at the local Dunham's or Bass Pro Shop. If I order ammunition off the internet, I prefer Sellier & Bellot. I'd like to try out some Aguilla. Most of the time I run 230 grain full metal jackets. When I open carry I load Speer LE Gold Dot 230 grain hollow point. The last box of ammunition I bought was at Rural King: Federal Premium HST 230 grain jacketed hollow point. I want to test this out next time I take my SR1911 to the range.
S&B and Aguila should be on my short list for ammo to test. I think Sean Pwnery found me some of that LE online at a real good price (sportsmans guide or warehouse, one of the two) and I need to try some.
I shoot the Hornady Critical Duty 220 grain JHP in my 1911. No problems at all!!! Great 1911 ammo
Good to know! That is a great ammo to have!
Nice shooting brother! 👍
Thank you!
I really like the Aluminum case from Walmart. I just wish I had more time to spend shooting it. Glad you happy with the Ruger Travis
Man, I love it! I will probably range practice with the Federal aluminum case. The Fiocchi runs well but I don't know if it is worth the extra $5-7 per box for range sessions.
@@travisp11 oh yeah. I use the Aluminum federal. Cheap stuff, well cheaper. Lol
Ah yeah... that’s what I’ve been waiting for....that pistol....it’s so...MACHO!!!!!!!
BlueSteel.44 I absolutely love it. It looks great, shoots well! It deserves a proper outdoor range test!
I’ll be waiting
@@bluesteel.4424 Sounds good!
Nice 1911!
It is an aweseom firearm. Low recoil, great build quality. Yeah, she is a bit pricey but I've shot more expensive 1911s and the SR is perfectly acceptable!
Nice looking gun, affordable price. My Springfield TRP was $1600
Thanks! Solid choice for you too!
Great Video!!!
Thank you!
Great video travisp11!!!! 👌🏻 👍🏻 Please tell me how this gun is doing at this moment I’m thinking on buying it, thanks!!!
I love it. Only 200 rounds down the pipe but she is holding up well.
I’m wanting a good priced 1911 with front checkering.
Yeah, it was almost a deal breaker. I may go with some sort of Talon grip tape setup.
travisp11 I have an e series smith that has it. I want a commander size 9mm. What I don’t understand is why everyone who makes a. 1911 with front checkering wants $300 more dollars than those without. Surely it does not cost that much. That being said I hear the magnum research ones have it at s good price. I love 1911 but only have the one.
@@mr.mr.3301 I do agree but Im wondering if the front checkering higher cost from some companies is because it is hand finished? Im sure there is a CNC machine or something that can put checking on the front strap and after shooting the Les Baer, man, I miss that front grip bite but the Rugers side panels work well, as well as the back strap.
Wilson Combat makes an interesting low cost add on (~$15) that they even list on amazon which addresses this issue. I just wish there was someone to make a UA-cam video review of it (or the options available out there as a whole) wink wink.
@@bluesteel.4424 I will check it out!
Was wondering if you had any problems with this gun, I wanted to get a 1911 , I have a Springfield and have been having problems , so I was thinking about getting another brand and I'm not sure what to get. I already got different mags and polished feed ramp and oiled it and , it just isn't any fun
My SR1911 ran flawlessly and I only used Ruger factory mags.
@@travisp11 I tried kimber pro tech then Wilson combat mags , it sucks cause the gun is very accurate, but usually can not go through a full mag with out failure to feed
J G try a few different brands of ammo and if still has issues, send it back to Ruger.
👍Travis
