Excellent .! Intriguing intelligent entertainment . ie. The sort of thing long vanished from TV and becoming increasingly rare on radio .! ( not diverse enough and doesn't tick whichever boxes are trendiest )
Definitely true, especially on BBC radio. I recommend the radio play 'The Exorcism' for Don Taylor - it has a similarly smug Middle Class set-up, but they meet a terrible retribution for taking their comfort for granted.
I do somewhat agree with you as it happens. The play is considered a classic and is well-loved (and one of the most-listened-to on the channel), but personally I feel that it does take a misstep in its later stages. Still very well executed in the main though.

Very enjoyable. Thanks. Well worth a listen.
Cracking story,thanks👍
Don’t normally enjoy supernatural tales. This one’s excellent! Btw I usually don’t like supernatural stories because many are boring.
Different. Intriguing ending.
"We've plenty of time for another rubber" 🤔
How could any woman refuse to…..😂😂
The petite bourgeoisie was in full swing back then for sure 😂

Thanks yes - I remember that one for sure and enjoyed it. These BBC dramas really are time machines - showing how much our society has changed.
I really liked the first bit, but it felt a bit silly towards the end. Big wodges of exposition from Asif killed a lot of the atmosphere.

Why are these plays so damn bourgeois
Well that one is cos it's made in 1975 by Radio 4. I know what you mean, though.
If I were a ghost I'd only want to haunt the right sort of folk, wouldn't you?
i prefer ghost stories about ordinary people not university professors and clerics
You may also like The Exorcism - again, it's about a small group of ordinary people rather than Jamesian academics...
@@mysteriousmagpie The Exorcism is amazing (both radio and TV versions). I saw it as a kid and it left its mark.
Agreed its brilliant. I've heard it loads of times and never get bored @jwsuicides8095
Taking into account prevailing alpha male attitude of the times, I still hear it today and THAT'S what I find scary! X😁🎄
Darling, she was buggering up the Bridge game after all!
WTF
feminist clap trap sweetie.
And I expect you think they were exhibiting a patronising attitude😮
Great story but the constant arguing in the dialogue is very annoying 😕
