you forgot to account for the 15 seconds to pack your stuff up, the extra time it takes to go to his locker and add about 1 minute 30 seconds because of traffic in the hallways
There is no 15 seconds to pack your stuff up, most kids pack up 5 minutes before class ends. And they were walking at a regular pace, which is the same pace youd walk in a crowded hallway. And its pretty fucking obvious he doesnt use his locker, it was a lie. No one uses their lockers, especially if you carry a backpack around anyway. Lockers are only useful for sports, or to keep your stuff in during extracurricular/club activity at the end of the day. Stop using these bs excuses

I actually kinda side with the student on this one. I know what he's going through. In my school, passing time was 3 minutes, and I had 2 classes back to back that were literally (not kidding) on the opposite ends of the school. I was always like a couple of minutes late. Especially when the teacher didn't let us start packing up UNTIL the bell had rung.
I feel bad for the three minute thing(my school had 4 minutes) but if you know how far away your class is, move a little faster. In 9th grade all of my classes were in opposite buildings of each other, and I had to navigate through 2 extremely congested hallways(at one point the traffic got so bad no one was even moving). Was still never late to class because I didnt drag my feet across the floor. The only time I was ever late(without a pass from my previous teacher to finish an assignment) was one the first day because me or my friend didnt know how to get to the second building to reach our third period(the hallways were made in a way that if you come from all but one angle, you wont even see the exit).
My school was the same. We had three minutes, but they violated your schedules freshmen and sophomore year.. they would place your classes on opposite sides of the building, like I would have English on the 3rd floor in one corner and then have to run to the first floor in another corner with about 1000 students in the hall. Lmao shit was crazyyyyyy
during passing time when the halls are jammed with students shoving past you it takes a LOT longer to walk to class than when it's empty. Had this problem with my twin girls in Jr High School, they were late everyday but their problem was hall congestion, no use of lockers so carrying books/notebooks was an issue because the school didn't allow purse like backpacks. Students need more than 5-8 minutes between classes
My high school it was 4 minutes. However, the principal I had at the time worked very closely with the teachers and staff in regards to scheduling so that lateness wouldn't happen. They weren't allowed to schedule students where the one class was on one end of the school while the next was at another. If a student was late several times, the principal would get with teachers and ask them to stand in the hallway and observe the student and see if they are moving along or dilly dallying. In the cases where the schedule didn't work and wasn't the fault of the student, the principal would make the administration change it. This was back before schools had cameras, which was great. Which I don't agree with but thats another story.

I like that the principal showed by example that it is possible to get from one end of the school to another in 5 minutes, even while using the bathroom. However, there are a couple potential flaws in this demo. One is that it doesn’t take into account time spent to gather supplies from your locker. Of course, if your classes are that far apart, odds are that you’ll pass by your locker at some point, and it shouldn’t take that long. But with traffic in the halls, you might not get to your locker right away. It can be tough to walk at a decent pace if the traffic is shoulder to shoulder. Plus, there is the possibility that there could be a line in the bathroom (especially for the girls), and you don’t have time to wait in line, and you probably don’t have time to find another bathroom (even if you did, that one could have a line as well). And if you have a teacher that doesn’t allow students leave class to go to the locker, bathroom, or water fountain, this bathroom line could be a problem. If this was a girl, I could see being a minute or two late to class because of a bathroom line. But since this is a boy, and he was 40 minutes late to class (not just one or two minutes), there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. That’s flat out “cutting class”. For the situation at hand, I would say that over a period of time, you learn the most direct route from one class to another and your campus, and plan your locker stops accordingly. But the bathroom visits is harder to predict, because you don’t know when you need to go, what business you need to do, or how long the line will be. You can try to take steps to avoid that situation, such as using the bathroom before school, at lunch, or after school. That would make it less likely that you’d have to visit the restroom at other times, but it’s no guarantee. The reality is that when you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go, and not everyone can hold it for very long.
Man I would love being late in school for my first period class lol they would put everyone who was in on campus suspension in the cafeteria and so many kids would be in there it was a joke. Yeah and he did was wash his hands. He didn't really use the bathroom the way everyone else is using it before they wash their hands and try to get to class on time.
to be fair, he wasn't in the hallway when other students were which makes it a lot slower. He also didn't have to wait for the bathroom and go to his locker.
I have to get to class in 3 minutes. In my school we have 2 stories and a basement. 2 Grades in one story and the other 2 in the other story. We, for some reason, had a big blow up of new kids in my grade and I and 79 other kids got pushed up into the grade below us wing. I have to run up from the basement and get my books after gym because they don’t let us bring our books down, then go down one more floor and go all the way in the back. Plus kids don’t know how to act and are very slow so I get held up a good minute. So for everyone who says 5 minutes isn’t enough it is and 3 minutes is all you probably need but it’s very hard to work with.

This man was my principal in my freshman year. He only lasted one year at my school. He used to walk around with a camera. He was scared to be in North Minneapolis lol.
Oh wow! Mr. Harris is now an associate superintendent for middle schools in my county and even though I’m not in school anymore, I watched the video my district posted introducing him and I was like “Oh my gosh! That’s the guy from the Principal’s office!!” ua-cam.com/video/6paC4HoVbUw/v-deo.html
Why was I waiting for Chris Rocks voice to start speaking
BRO thank god i aint the only one
@@B4NDllKOOT_ I too was feeling the Everybody Hates Chris vibe with this one.
The principal should get iss for having a phone from 2001
Malachi Nimmons this was filmed in 2008-2009
@@jacobthomas1438 "IF I WAS YOUR AGE." Key point there. back then he wouldnt get that.
R/wooosh.
Exactly what I was thinking!
I agree it’s hard to travel across the school in 5 minutes but 40 MINUTES LATE!!!???, principal has every right to discipline him for that.
I wish my school had their bathroom
There was no one in the hall when they walked. Obviously it’s not gonna take 5 minutes
Yeah and he did was wash his hands. He didn't really use the bathroom the way everyone else is using it before they wash their hands and try to get to class on time.
So, the Principle gives him permission to run in the hallway?
Okay being 40 minutes late is rediculous but to be fair passing periods aren't long so 🤷🏼
alexis denny My passing periods are only 5 minutes and I’ve never been late.Anything longest students will take advantage
Y'all ignoring the fact he was forty minutes late to class. FORTY MINUTES. That's like all of class he basically just skipped
40 minutes late for class? Results is detention
“I can run a mile in 5mins with these clothes on” I call BS🤔
Idk why but I like to watch him wash his hands
He's a master of his craft
Well when the bell rings the hallways are crowded tho, so
What I use to do is look both ways then run on your toes. It worked well.
to be fair, he wasn't in the hallway when other students were which makes it a lot slower. He also didn't have to wait for the bathroom and go to his locker.
that principle seems pretty nice & the boy was understanding
Mr Harris big pimpin 5 numbers
Adults talk to kids and be like I don’t want you to make Mistakes that I did but it helps grow
