Dude that’s awesome to hear that works! I tried Pippetts or whatever you call them and I just don’t have the patience for them but syringe is definitely something I need to try now!!!
Aww girl thank you😭😭 your to sweet! My grandma LOOVEDDDDD the tray but it was at the time mailed from me in the UK to her back stateside and I never got her reaction just a sweet thank you text! She still keeps it on the table but dosnt use it because it’s to pretty 😂😂😭🖤🖤
Your cat scratch cartoon is just so amazing in so many ways! I used to self harm too. Beautiful way to handle your scars. That is also a cute little character I've seen before. I'm blown away by that. I also love your tray. What did your grandma say? Congratulations on making it and doing something constructive.
Deanna Reiki Webster aww thank you!! I’m so sorry to hear that. It is definitely a struggle to overcome and I hope you have found other ways to let out your emotions:) it’s simons cat! He’s a old cartoon/comic. I wanted to cover the scars but my cats often were my comfort so I tattooed him myself!! She LOVED the tray! And my grandpa loved the one I gave him as well they thought it was beautiful!
They loved it!!!! I asked her the other day if it had any wear marks and she’s like “oh no it’s way to pretty to use we have it sitting on our table as a centerpiece”😂😂🖤
Yes of course! I am back stateside now and have a etsy that I have a ton of items listed and I'm always working to add more to it!! JFSKustoms if you wanna check it out!!
Came out so beautiful! I’m just wondering if it’ll get ruined when you put out a cigarette or something on it? Or maybe put a protective layer on top? I just started making jewelry trays! Great video!
Jasmine Marquez we have one I made my husband and his friends use and it’s been fine so far!!! I plan on doing some test on them but we had one used a couple packs and it’s fine it cleaned up well with no burns!!!!
stirring super slow!! also using heat helps like a heat gun, hairdryer, even a lighter just be careful not to burn the silicone! I even heat the resin while I'm mixing it now which helps!
I use a small toothpick to mix the resin around the rims and try to pop/push out all the bubbles. Heat helps, some times I have to torch them and then in 20 minuets torch them again, I am always bored so I check on them multiple times before they set and try to pop all the bubbles. Over mixing your resin also creates bubbles so I try to slowly mix my resin and that helps!
Hey! So I made one tofay around 4am right. And I took it out the mold around 5pm. It’s dry but it like bends. Idk what I’m doing wrong. I would appreciate if you can give me some tips or tell me what to do 🥴
Oh no!! Give it time before you worry! Most resins fully cure in 24-48 hours! I’ve had that too where it’s been hard but bendy but after letting it sit for a couple days it gets rock solid!! If it continues to be flexible/bendy after more than a couple days chances are you didn’t use enough hardener! Make sure your doing the correct ratio and fully mixing the resin 😁 I hope that helps! Good luck with your resin I’m sure your making beautiful pieces!:)🖤
Amazon!!! It came in a pack when I just searched “resin moulds” it was that tray, another and some coasters but I think it’s in multiple different packs!
Tierra kyle make sure you are using the correct ratio of hardner to resin. It has to be exact for it to cure correctly. Room temp helps as well. Your resin should have information on what the best temp is for it to fully cure. Plus check the cure time all trains are different and can set anywhere from a couple hours to a couple days!
5959 I couldn’t see why it wouldn’t work! I got the mold off of amazon, it was in a set, it’s honestly in my opinion they best looking ashtray mold on there lol! I haven’t used any UV resin so I’m not sure how it would work if you would have to do thin layers or what!
Honey Artz oh yeah for sure after 24 hours mine is hard as rock! Thickness depends too on it, but yeah all of mine in Atleast 6 hours it’s hard, still can be like twisted or imprinted but it’s set! Then I leave it for longer to really harden up
Ronafel de los reyes www.cassart.co.uk/craft/mixed-media-1/resin/artresin-non-toxic-epoxy-resin.htm this is where I get it from since I’m in the UK. I believe amazon might have it as well but it would be a US amazon
Looks pretty for decorating but wouldn't it get all burned and nasty after using it as an ashtray for a while because I had so many plastic ashtrays in the past and they got burn marks that you can't remove don't know if resin is more resistant to the heat and ash
I wish I could answer but I don’t smoke and my grandma thought it was too pretty to use as a ashtray!!! 😭 from one we have used by people a couple times honestly not much it’s mostly just dirty not melted or burned just ashy but I haven’t tried cleaning it!
please wear gloves and protective gear/ look into resin safety if you have not! your art is lovely and i'd hate to see you injure yourself ♥ sorry to intrude, I just want to make sure you're safe
I am safe I have all windows open in a very well ventilated room. I don’t wear gloves because honestly I work in the automotive industry with tons of thinners, enamels and laquers and everything else with no gloves. My resin is a non toxic no VOC/COV that is food safe. my cats are fine. Never near the resin because they know to stay off my desk. They are perfectly fine and safe. You don’t know how or where I do my work so you can’t comment on my care for them.
www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/what-safety-precautions-should-i-take-when-using-artresin here is a safety information link for the Art resin that I have been using for years.
Jessica Stear I know I don’t know how or where you work which is why I said I wasn’t sure if this applied to your resin, I wasn’t trying to intrude, like I said I just wanted to make sure you were safe because I love your work ❤️ Thank you for the link! I didn’t know about art resin and was under the impression that all resin is as toxic as epoxy resin
Jo it’s a great resin! Zero fumes so no nasty smell, it’s a more expensive resin but it’s worth it since it’s safe for in home use!!! Thank you for looking out and liking my work! For sure in the future i want to make sure people know to work safe!
oh yeah that would totally work! this was my first time working with a mould like this so it was interesting but I don't feel like need a funnel or pipettes I just pour close to the edge and let it drip down or tilt it while I pour it in lol!!
Sandra Andrews thank you!!! They for sure loved it and don’t even use them because they think it’s just too pretty so they are center pieces I guess on their table 😂
I always work messy!!! I make videos of my practice! I never do anything before filming it because that takes away the fun of the project for me! Thank you for your feed back though!
Jessica Stear i dont agree with the harsh way this person phrased it but you do really need to be wearing some PPE (personal protective equipment) when using resin purely for your own safety. If you consistently get resin on your skin, you can develop an allergy to the resin which most likely will be so severe that you’ll never be able to work with it again. Also the majority of resins are extremely toxic and state “route of exposure: inhalation” on the side of the bottle. If you inhale these chemicals, you are leaving yourself open to all of the nasty stuff in those compounds to enter your body and make you sick and possibly even cause cancer. They are also extremely extremely toxic to animals. If you need any help knowing what PPE you should buy, i’d be happy to help you if you need.
Here is a safety information link to the art resin I have been using for years with zero issues. www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/what-safety-precautions-should-i-take-when-using-artresin do your research on resin and you won’t have to worry about all of the harmful chemicals that other resins can have.

You Pour it straight down the middle and then put the heat gun on it so it could run down to the sides evenly
For molds like the ashtray, the fill that tight area, I use a syringe for tube feeding. It works really well. Try it🙂
Dude that’s awesome to hear that works! I tried Pippetts or whatever you call them and I just don’t have the patience for them but syringe is definitely something I need to try now!!!

It's so cute that you make stuff for your grandparents.
I make them tons of things!!!
Cut the tip on the pippett to make bigger It works well when I put lipglosses in tubes. It should work the same
rich has ooo good tip thank you I’ll have to try this!!!!

how do you get the bubbles out from under the rim? i always have bubbles there and i can’t get them out with a torch or by blowing

I really like workin with art resin. Beautiful ashtray.
Wow
How do you clean the ashtray molds ?
You can use rubbing alcohol to clean them! I flip them inside out and wipe them out with a paper towel and 70% rubbing alcohol
Wait.. you can demold resin only after a couple of hours?
Yes I can because my resin is a fast curing resin. Most things I can unmold in 6 hours and be fine!
Honey Artz oh yeah for sure after 24 hours mine is hard as rock! Thickness depends too on it, but yeah all of mine in Atleast 6 hours it’s hard, still can be like twisted or imprinted but it’s set! Then I leave it for longer to really harden up
how much resin did you mix?
For this ashtray I believe it was 4oz maybe a bit more!
Where did you get your resin ?? Do you have any link?
