- Revamping Dylan's Celica Supra for the Ultimate PNW Summer Touring Experience!
With the PNW Summer Touring event looming over us, we decided to give Dylan’s Celica Supra a quick makeover and create a fresh look. The transformation started with installing neon-style interior lights, creating a funky atmosphere that adds to the car's charm.
We installed the Rudeboy Custom engine risers to ensure that the lowest part of the front end was the cross member and not the much more fragile oil pan. With the engine raised up the next step was to remove the front bump stops to drop the front end even more.
After the suspension was sorted was the addition of aggressive-fitting Longchamp wheels on loan from Reid while Dylan waits for his SSR Jilbas to get rebuilt. The Longchamps made a huge visual change to the appearance of the car and served as a perfect reminder of just how important a nice fitting set of quality wheels is to the overall finished product that is a style car.
A distinctive touch came from the hand-crafted tail light covers Dylan (with the help of some friends overseas) sourced from Japan. These covers seamlessly merged Japanese craftsmanship with the car's classic design, adding a touch of heritage and modernity while blending the rear bumper, rear panel and hatch together flawlessly.
The Supra was a hit at PNW Summer Touring and really became a symbol of passion, innovation, and community. Truly capturing the essence of the event.

Safe and legal thrill: ditching your springs & leftover suspension components in the garbage can at the gas station. Popup shop is going to be a blast. Definitely gotta get a shift knob even if I have no car to put it in currently.

Surely now a days air suspension is a obvious solution for cars running so low?
Surely air suspension isn't going to harm the Kaido look but will mean you can drive anywhere
Air suspension would completely ruin what this car is being built for, completely off brand from the style!!
Building a kaido racer means committing to static suspension and everything that comes along with it.
Eventually this car will have modified coilovers in the front and a raised diff+ rear subframe and tucked exhaust, which will add plenty of drivability.
Air suspension can be neat in the right application, but for a car like this it’s far too modern and expensive to make sense. 😅
@@alexanderturnbull1677 I disagree. The original builders of the Kaido cars probably didn't use air suspension setups because it wasn't available at the time or they couldn't afford it..
I don't understand the logic with spending thousands on 'genuine' branded wheels then going and doing a cheap hack job on the suspension?
With air you can keep it low all the time if you want but when you meet something awkward like that driveway you can raise it at the push of a button..
I love the Kaido Racer style cars and if I was in the position to build my own air would be a necessity for Irish roads.
@@retrophil8241 people are still building Kaido Racers in Japan today and they’re still opting for static suspension setups. This Supra is getting Rudeboy Custom pro-sus in the front that allows it to run an S13 coilover, as well as the previously mentioned modifications for making it have more ground clearance. The engine risers are a huge help for drivability as well. I don’t think ground clearance or drivability are really high on the list of priorities when building a car like this either. I definitely get what you mean about bad roads though, it’s a pain, but it’s also just part of living with a car that’s built with a singular purpose like this.
