Except it seems they have been updated a bit with all the concerns that "Turbo Labs America" had addressed, addressed. I won't list them here but after careful study and checking. It would seem so. By the way with the 2 inch inlets included they came to about $1500 CAD or $1350 USD. I have also accumulated all the supporting "While you're in their" parts and gaskets bolts hoses etc. I am now thinking I am going to bite the hard bullet and max out a couple of credit cards to just get a shop to do the job. The "XI" cars pose more that I think I'm ready to try and take on by myself on jack stands and my friends aren't as studious as I have been in learning all the in's and out's of it all to want to dive in with me. Just thought I'd ad this stuff. Man I'm long winded. Sorry.

The idea with rerouting the OEM loom is great in my eyes, the thing with swapping the flange on the 8hp45 was on believe that the e60 6hp19/21 has more of the 5hp flange, which according to my e46fanatics source is why the need to swap on the 8hp to a 6hp or 8hpn20 flange....thy for this insight!

So we're 2 days into doing this exact swap in the UK - ZF8HP45 into my E82 135i and we're not sure how to solve the cooler. Namely because we don't have the bracket for the side of the gearbox. Can you tell me some more information about the cooler you used - How many rows is it? Is it better to mount in front of the wheel arch or on the bumper where you've mounted it in this video? How long are the hoses roughly from the cooler to the gearbox? Where do I get the conversion plate that bolts into the gearbox side? What's required if I wanted to plumb into the regular cooler? I've been following your videos all the way through and everything is perfect up until this point. Are you able to link any of the parts such as the transmission cooler and conversion plates you used so I can order them?
You can use any oil cooler. In the UK you may need a thermostat or at least make use of the factory heat exhanger or you may have issues getting the box up to temp. You will need to make custom lines to suit your chassis and cooler location. I ordered 5m of hose and it was just about long enough from memory. There are plenty of adapaters out there. I had these modified to suit and cost about $300aud from memory. Thats just the black right angle bits in the in box. However there are plenty of options in UK and Europe. Just need to do some googling. Make sure you go for 8hp45 specific ones, the other 8hp use different cooler ports.

With that in mind I think it’ll be faster for me to get some of the original ZF8HP45 lines and run them through the standard transmission oil cooler via a join until we have time to get a thermostat and do the aftermarket cooler correctly since fitting the aftermarket cooler sounds like it’ll be more of a hindrance if we don’t have a thermostat.

Andrew, quick question for you. Looks like the F30 8HP45 has the same rear trans mount as the E9X N54 6HP19/21, correct. My 8HP45 is from F10 535i and the rear trans mount looks completely different and I do not think will line up. Can the 6HP19/21 rear trans mount bolt to the 8HP45 from F10 535i?

@@Mp-jw1qg I used my original cross member. Just got a bracket (the part that bolts from the box to the trans mounts) from a 330d e90. ECS have them in stock.
Just buy the M3 FCAB inserts and the insert tool for $125. You won’t have to align it after. The true M3 arms change the dimensions and symmetry. That is why your alignment is off. You could try to have someone align it to M3 specs first before going back to normal control arms with M3 inserts.
@@kkarnis3791 I mean it would, but does it matter that it takes 10 mins to get to running temp instead of 7 mins. I find the trans really warms up with the engine anyway. At the end of the day they are bolted together, the trans is a big heat sink for the motor.
Basically yes!. You would use the e90 transfer case, and the F30 8hp. Check out the pinned coment, a guy in the states has already done this with his e90 xdrive
No, definitely not. There are 2 partiuclarly weak clutches in the 8hp45. Due to the packaging on those small clutches the friction surface area is quite small. However BMW 8hp45 TCU is very good at masking torque reductions, which gives it the feel of a higher power handling. Im personally not a fan of the 8hp45 after doing around 100 8hp swaps now.
I know its been a while, but have you looked into if its possible to run the E84 8hp45 with an N55/N54 car? This is one of the few 8HPs offered in an E chassis, and I have heard rumor it can work in an oem conversion/install. Cheers

@@ZeroTo60Tube after some research I think the engine flange, where the GBX mounts, has the same dimensions on both m47 and m57 engines. So I would guess the adaptor plate made for m57 block would work on the m47. If someone could confirm it. Another question I have is, from where can I get CAN signal for the tcu, from the ECU itself? Does it need some kind of adapter or direct connection? Thank you and keep that great job man 💪🏼

can tcu works better than lamik no lie
can tcu takes all shifters including dct shifters and you use oem tcu to do everything

6HP transmissions are very strong. They can hold way more then what they are rated for.

Its a great option for power. But i just dont know why you would do a 6hp28 when you can do a 8hp70/75.

A 6hp converter will not fit a 8hp. So you will need to use the 8hp.

M3 cantrol arm I was intall in my 335i car have no cantrol on road after I change again because it's make - Camber tomuch out wheels downside

Converter and flex plate should be the compatible. You do need the controller.
And if you run port injection and e85 I wouldn’t recommend this
