Definitely not a fan of the grille look. I feel like it's some mad max style aggressiveness that takes away from the car. The headlight idea is definitely unique to fit the squareness of the car. The led strip incased in like a frosted epoxy could look good to match the style of strip in the headlight. I think the grille design could look a bit better with a more open mesh and maybe one smaller continental logo offset to the driver side.

Those diamonds aren’t working, but hey, you don’t know until you try it - that’s what the R&D is for. Can’t wait to see what else you come up with.
If we go with a riviera style, we'd definitely be aiming for that first gen look with the horizontal lines. Hideaway headlights would be a good addition too!
It would definitely look a lot more slick in chrome. We're not sure if we're going to keep the design, but some paint and chrome would definitely make this look a whole lot different!

We set and positioned them with the truck at ride height. We used the garage door in front of the Continental to make sure the lights were hitting where they are supposed to shine
I'm diggin' the OBS lights but the grill mock up just seems off. What about if you split the diamonds and put them opposing each other so it looks kind of like teeth. Stagger them so it looks like the open maw of a monster coming at you. Kinda like the namesake of what's under the hood, Godzilla.
Instead of diamonds for the vertical slats, it might look more cohesive to mirror the profile and rake of the front of the fenders/bumper just shrunk down to fit the grille area. (If that made any sense)
Man, im just glad you guys did all this to a sixty-FIVE and not a earlier (and more sought-after) continental. I'm all about making it cool, but OBS headlights? Leadsled inspired grille? All the suspension work and it STILL wont lay out? Sorry folks, but this one is a bummer

Get rid of that mesh and go back to something with horizontal slats that follows the lines of the car. This current thing doesn’t follow the lines of the car or tie in with anything. It’s difficult to look at right now.
I agree with you, the vibe is a little off on the grill. The diamonds just don't fit the look quite right. I think something closer to the stock look might be better. Something with more horizontal lines. If you were to do something like the logo, I'd do just one diamond but add the horizontal points like the logo that stretch to from the center to the edge of the headlights, maybe? Or get another set of headlights and double stack each side like an old square body and run the horizontal points between them all the way to the edge of the grill? But awesome work as always! The fab skills everyone there has is next level!

I'm with you guys, definitely not the vibe. I can see how it might work if they were very shallow diamonds (more flattened), narrow and more vertically elongated, and they almost formed a vertical slat grill. The diamond shape would have to be subtle. Sometimes the customer has to see they're not as creative as they may have thought and maybe it's best to revert to the original design aesthetics that made this vehicle such a classic. 😅

At first I thought, no, no not obs lights! But they don’t look outta place and seem to work. The idea of a led surround sounds good too. Maybe a little more modern honeycomb mesh like on the newer mustangs would be better. I’d ditch the diamonds and just keep it clean.
Only my opinion. I would chuck the grill and start over with a clean sheet. I would look at all the Lincoln grills around that time, and pick one to try and emulate into a restomod version of that one. The diamonds look like they came off the set of a 70's Star Trek episode. Super cool looking but does not fit the build. Again, imo.
Thanks for sharing! We'll probably pull some references from different Lincoln grills, but the customer wanted something that is really unique to this build. So we think that trying to fully emulate a past grill would be a no go from him!
What about a "phantom grille" over the headlights since obs guys did/do that over their headlights. Billetthrills currently makes them for the obs trucks. Would give it a sleek appearance. Then you could one big lincoln logo in the center? Heck, you could then even do the obs turn signals hidden behind the phantom.
I've been a fabricator for over 35 years have my own shop build custom cars in New Mexico I love the channel but I got to be honest that whole front grill has got to go that looks absolutely hideous I'm not trying to be mean I respect other builders but you're at the point where you can change it at this point and I would I like a lot of the rest of it no complaints there but that grill is no bueno!!! The C10 build by the way is looking awesome!!!
Thanks for the feedback! This was our first mock up of the grill, taking it from a drawing/concept into something physical to see if we liked the direction. We're trying to figure out now if we want to look for a way to refine the look or go a completely different route!
Love this build but I hope the owner lets you all design that grill from scratch. That concept is not working. The original looks more finished and elegant. Currently it looks like something out of a cheap horror movie where the car is possessed and drives around killing people.
I know the customer is always right, but I wish that car would have been a rescue from the salvage yard. They’re not making any more of those and that one’s not coming back. Looks experimentally cool. You guys are very skilled and I love to watch. One question, can you jam Al Green in that Lincoln? Not in the video, I get the copyright protection. Just for the vibe. Love and happiness. I hope that I find a new appreciation for futuristic square headlight suicide door Lincoln’s. I would not be surprised if the customer wants the suicide doors to swing the other way.
We can play some Al Green but all you're going to hear is licensed soundtracks! lol And sometimes you gotta be experimental when you're making something different. The customer doesn't want this to look like any other Lincoln on the road. So we have to try some wild ideas to see what works and what does not!
awesome project!... i like the diamonds but i dont like them standing out, i would prefer to see them attatched to the surface of the grill, and maybe 1 less per side..
The stands do make it look a little wonky. Putting them right on the backing isn't a bad idea. I think we'd need to find something other than perforated metal to put em on
A lot of work has gone into building this grill, but, yeah, it’s not vibing the right way. I thought the guys would be as close as possible to the original grill, even though it’s a custom grill. I like the new lights though.
I wish the grill stayed the same but it is the customer's choice. Also the lights and led stuff doesn't go with this car I think. Other than that great work and the wheels look amazing!!
I think the lights and LED outer rim would go a lot more with the flow of the front end if we redesigned the grill to be more horizontal. That way the rectangular lights and strip both follow the same direction as the rest of the grill
I wish the owner would leave yall alone and let you create. You would start one path and it would be looking cool and then they come in with some random idea and it starts to ruin it. At one point it was starting to look like the Green Hornet car, if he wanted that look he should have bought an Imperial.
The car was never ours to begin with so we can only have so much say it what the end product looks like. If he wants to paint it purple and cover it in shag carpeting, all we can say is "we don't think that'll look good!" We're a working fab shop and we gots bills to pay!
We're waiting on interior pieces right now, but all the hard parts are back together! Once we have everything ready to fire, we'll be dropping a few episodes on that build!
What about putting 2 sets of the square body headlights in it with a left and right on each side so the outer led makes a outer led edge of the grill then connect the U on both sides with an led strip that matches. Then cut down the original grill to fit inside of that
For the amount of skill I know you guys have, it doesn't fit the car. The perforated doesn't belong on there anywhere, and the diamonds should stay on the Mercs. I like how you connected each corner, the overall flow is gonna look amazing.
@@SalvagetoSavage What's in my head vs what I type down vs what you imagine vs what it ends up looking like could be very different but... I looked for a few designs online and it looks like everyone stays fairly "safe" with the horizontal or vertical slots, and most designs keep the center hump instead of a peak. The only thing I can think of is: keeping the center hump so it follows the bulge on the front at the top, or at the very least keeping the peak. The positive or negative of the grille pattern would be the Lincoln logo itself, repeated and maybe so filled up that it's on top of itself, depending on how that looks. Or as big and spaced out as the current diamonds on there are. The '24 Navigator has the general outside shape of the logo as the grille design itself, but on a much smaller scale and constantly repeating. It might look like it's trying to scream "I'M A LINCOLN!!!" in the end though. This might also be a dumb idea: but a stylized "Godzilla" logo similar to how Dodge does their Demon/Hellcat badges, at a corner on the grille? I'm just throwing ideas out, you guys are the artists. Whatever direction you guys go with, I think this will look insane.
We'll definitely look into that! We gotta see if they come in any closer than what we have on because we're already running an aftermarket control arm on our Crown Vic Front clip
Do not like the grille diamond inserts as it is headed. too big... maybe too wide. I see what you mena about using the continental logo... but maybe not so literal. May I suggest moving the square headlights outboard more? Also, love the wheel design, but looks like you need to rework from suspension to bring those inboard. Track is too wide. Hey, you asked. LOL
The grill is going to have an LED runner around the outside so we can't move the lights too much farther out. I think we gotta nix the vertical design and go with something more horizontal for the grill!
It's definitely getting a full revision, but the customer wants to stay away from the Lincoln grills of years past. He really wants something wild and out there
The grill is not it. And with the LED lights, why didnt you use the ones on the headlights for the corner? Then you could run one horizontal light between them. Just my opinion of course. Also some horizontal lines connecting the diamonds would help. Glad to see this project it is so sick!
@@SalvagetoSavage also think about incorporating the headlight LED’s into the strip as well. You guys do awesome work so I know it will be sick either way!
Nothing gets you pulling out your hair more than coming close the being done and then having a client say "well I think we want to go another route with this!" lol
@@SalvagetoSavage i think the client has too many ideas for the project and that usually comes from having alot of people whispering thier ear. the best approach is to do a massive amount of hand holding and also making it clear that they cant get everything that they want in 1 car and pray to the heavens that they are reasonable enough to understand ...
@@SalvagetoSavage I was hoping that it would be a "drop-in" replacement. It can give my car a slightly updated look. I would also like to have my side door mirrors to have built in turning lights like the modern cars have today (make them look like it was OEM). Finally, do you remember when some cars had an optional luggage rack mounted on the trunk lid? I wish my car had that too.
No on the grill! It would be cooler if you still did something with the slats and leads in between the slats. Make it more clean. This looks like something a kid would come up with.
i subscribed because of this continental when you guys started it so im looking forward to it, the idea behind the grill is dope, not sure on the current design but same as some of your other fab ideas i would rather see the full vision before giving my opinion ya dig?
Definitely feel you on that! This was something the customer really wanted to see realized. There's only so much justice a rendering sketch and cardboard cut outs can do for really visualizing something. We're probably going to retrace our steps on this one, but you gotta know what doesn't work sometimes to figure out what does!
@@SalvagetoSavage i look forward to whatever you guys end up doing to it, i'm sure it will be great, maybe a more elongated pyramid would fill it better? More dramatic of a peak to it as well? Full send it. 🤣
Do a billet center with the actual Lincoln design u took inspiration from and then do the diamonds with another thinner set running from the sides horizontally to connect them all together like sun busts or stars/ nautical stars…
Jesus dude. The 65 is the only one with the corner lights. Could have started with any other year between 62-69. I want mine to look like the Entourage car but with bigger versions of the stock wheels and crazy powerful engine. Basically everything else stock. I’m definitely not a purist, but in this case, mostly stock.
Gentlemen. Huge fan of your work. But, this is a miss for me. The OBS headlights remind me of when motorhome manufacturers graft head- and taillights from a normal pickup on their bodywork. And completely contradicts the “old skool Merc” style the customer was sorta looking for, which in my opinion contradicts the style of the rest of the car. What about a set of hideaway headlights with a more horizontal style? Make the headlight reveal something crazy. And just a big Lincoln logo bisecting the center from top to bottom.
Hate it! The OG grill is so much nicer. The rear bumper is ugly too. To many sharp edges. That car is square but not flat. Every factory line flows your custom peace’s do not.

Thanks for the feedback! This was our first mock up of the grill, taking it from a drawing/concept into something physical to see if we liked the direction. We're trying to figure out now if we want to look for a way to refine the look or go a completely different route!
You need to do quad headlights one right and one left on each side one right side up and one upside down
Love this build but I hope the owner lets you all design that grill from scratch.
That concept is not working.
The original looks more finished and elegant.
Currently it looks like something out of a cheap horror movie where the car is possessed and drives around killing people.
Thanks for the input. We're definitely thinking maybe goin back to the drawing board with somehow a littlcloser to the stock design
Not fan of grill/diamonds, even the lights, look ugly IMO, these lights don't suit the car at all !
No offence of course, you asked
No offense taken! We love getting feedback. That's why we asked!
I am here for it all. Looking forward to Lincoln episodes but i enjoy them all.
Love to hear that! Thank you so much for all the support!
awesome project!... i like the diamonds but i dont like them standing out, i would prefer to see them attatched to the surface of the grill, and maybe 1 less per side..
The stands do make it look a little wonky. Putting them right on the backing isn't a bad idea. I think we'd need to find something other than perforated metal to put em on
I usually love everything you guys do.
But that grill, just ain't doing it for me. I'm sure you guys will figure it out! Can't wait to see!
When you're trying to make something wild, you sometimes gotta do it really wrong to find something that works really right!
A lot of work has gone into building this grill, but, yeah, it’s not vibing the right way. I thought the guys would be as close as possible to the original grill, even though it’s a custom grill. I like the new lights though.
I think you're right! Back to the drawing board!
Niceee
Thanks 🤗
I wish the grill stayed the same but it is the customer's choice. Also the lights and led stuff doesn't go with this car I think. Other than that great work and the wheels look amazing!!
I think the lights and LED outer rim would go a lot more with the flow of the front end if we redesigned the grill to be more horizontal. That way the rectangular lights and strip both follow the same direction as the rest of the grill
He needs to build one close to the original with the new continental led emblem
Coming along nicely. Such a shame that you had to chop up a nice grille insert only to have the customer change his mind. That's life eh?
We are very much used to that by now! lol
Man that grill looks like shyt. Don't do that man like that.
With the blending of the bumper, it needs a more futuristic look. Those diamonds don’t really fit
Something a lot more sleek and minimalist?
Dave’s a master. Enough said. What about the Chevelle. Did you guys button that up?
We're waiting on interior pieces right now, but all the hard parts are back together! Once we have everything ready to fire, we'll be dropping a few episodes on that build!
Team321 makes narrowed crown vic stuff might help
Thanks for the heads up! We'll check em out!
What about putting 2 sets of the square body headlights in it with a left and right on each side so the outer led makes a outer led edge of the grill then connect the U on both sides with an led strip that matches. Then cut down the original grill to fit inside of that
That's a pretty good idea! We'll add it to the board while we're working on the redesign!
For the amount of skill I know you guys have, it doesn't fit the car. The perforated doesn't belong on there anywhere, and the diamonds should stay on the Mercs. I like how you connected each corner, the overall flow is gonna look amazing.
Any ideas of what to replace the diamonds and perforated with?
You need to get some Fatman fabrication narrowed upper and lower control arms for the front a lot of people run them on the f100 swaps
@@SalvagetoSavage Agree... horizontal works great on that car's wonderful lines. I owned a 66 vert, and still LOVE that shape.
After reading comments I left. Sometimes custom stuff looks great in the end?
Ok!
Just had a thought try some newer challenger headlights instead of the silverado ebay ones
We'll look into that!
NOOOO, don't do it. Try and mimic the old grill with the new headlights
It's definitely getting a full revision, but the customer wants to stay away from the Lincoln grills of years past. He really wants something wild and out there
I was all for it until the diamond grill 👎
The grill is not it. And with the LED lights, why didnt you use the ones on the headlights for the corner? Then you could run one horizontal light between them. Just my opinion of course. Also some horizontal lines connecting the diamonds would help. Glad to see this project it is so sick!
We're thinking of maybe scrapping the diamonds all together. But definitely heading in a horizontal direction like you're suggesting
@@SalvagetoSavage also think about incorporating the headlight LED’s into the strip as well. You guys do awesome work so I know it will be sick either way!
As a designer i hate last minute changes but gotta respeck the client ... the rest of it looks sick. yall are killing it
Nothing gets you pulling out your hair more than coming close the being done and then having a client say "well I think we want to go another route with this!" lol
I like the headlights. It almost looks like I can put them on my 1997 Lincoln Town Car.
Might be able to fit with some modifications!
Ur original grille looked way better.... This looks chinese... Just my 2 cents guys
Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for acknowledging my comment.... You guys are next level.... Wish u guys could build something for me... Lol
No on the grill! It would be cooler if you still did something with the slats and leads in between the slats. Make it more clean. This looks like something a kid would come up with.
Good idea!
@@SalvagetoSavage thanks. Oh course I meant to say LED's. But I think you understand what I was trying to say.
i subscribed because of this continental when you guys started it so im looking forward to it, the idea behind the grill is dope, not sure on the current design but same as some of your other fab ideas i would rather see the full vision before giving my opinion ya dig?
That's an awesome idea! We might take that lead when working up a new design!
@@SalvagetoSavage any way u go I am sure it will turn out great…!
Double stack the Obs lights, and float smaller diamonds with a crossbar. Maybe
Not a bad idea!
Double stacking the headlights is a great idea! @@SalvagetoSavage
I can’t get behind that grille. It needs the horizontal parts of the star too. Right now it just looks like braces on teeth.
Grill looks like Doomsday.
Lost me on the grill
They are in Cocoa Fl.
Hate it! The OG grill is so much nicer. The rear bumper is ugly too. To many sharp edges. That car is square but not flat. Every factory line flows your custom peace’s do not.
