Fixing our HUGE Mistake on the Godzilla Swapped Continental Grill - 7.3L Lincoln Build

- We're getting ready to send this 7.3L Godzilla swapped Continental out of the shop for body work! But first, we have a few key issues that we need to address; including fixing the front grill that you guys hates SO MUCH! We are also modifying our hood to fit our throttle body and routing our throttle cable down the side of our intake. And while we're connecting cables to our drivetrain, it's a great time to install our push button transmission shifter!
We're so close to getting this motor swapped Lincoln Continental fired up and rolling down the street! So make sure to like and subscribe so you don't miss a single episode!
You guys do great work. But every single aesthetic change done to this car has been utterly atrocious. Godzilla swapped and bagged? It could have been a work of art had it been left at that. Leaving the bumpers alone and simply tucking them? Even better! But this thing, good lord! It looks like someone played finger roulette and built a car with the performance aisle of an autozone and a JC Whitney catalog..
Damn, wrapping this should be a crime
i love this build. The donorcar was already fabulous, this one is personalized. I still dont see this Grill. It looks like a botched 80's mad max grill inside a splendid mean lookin g MF-er.
That car is far gone.
That grill looks much better 🔥 I didn’t hate the last one but this one is perfect. Can’t wait to see it after it’s wrapped!
Grill looks much better!
Thank you!
Strike 2 on the grill. The obs headlights just don't work in my opinion. I really wish the owner stayed with the original grill. I'm all for tweaking the cars styling in subtle tasteful ways but when you start with such a beautifully originally styled car to begin with, going this radical is going to get a lot of mixed opinion.
It will all look a lot more congruent when everything is matched with a similar color scheme
You can’t anodize steel bud, aluminum is the only anodizable product.
Why not fashion the hood after the mitsusbisi eclipse hood ?
WRAP …….. I don’t believe i watched every episode to hear ….. WRAP….
The grill is some Home Depot toilet door venting mesh? The headlights are simply unspeakable ugly… 😢
I love everything yall did witht the car, but my jaw dropped when i heard you say wrapped.
It's takes a LOT of effort to make such a classy/beautiful car look this disgusting. So, congratulations I guess? The fact it's getting wrapped fits in perfectly with all the other design choices.
Agree. I can picture the exact kind of person who would make these choices on a car like this. Gaudy.
that car went from such a cool idea....to dog shit! im sure its the customers choices not yours but man...what a shame
Agreed
Better… but the stock grill still looks soooo much better.
Who spends that kind of money on custom (ugly as hell) fab then wraps the car hahahah 😂😂😂😂 that second grill is nearly as horrific as the first attempt
Someone with the money to spend! Thank you for watching!
I enjoy watching all your hard work, but every time I see a car, that’s a high end build with some “Custom Grille”, they feel dated way too quickly. Not a fan of it.
Can’t buy taste. It’s hideous.
Custom grilles are hard to get right, simpler and understated is often better.
🤮🤮🤮
Love all of this, but man those seats don't work. Cheapens the whole look imo. But hey it's not for me so as long as the owner is happy. Would love a continental 1 day.
Not a fan of the grill. The work you do is amazing, but i am also not paying you to build the car. Keep up the work fellas.
Thanks for the support! It's definitely not a look for everyone but we think it'll grow on you once you see it all put together!
Godzilla swapped and bagged was ok, everything else, not so much. The rest of the mods ruined this car.
The trunk vent louvers are pointing 180degrees in the wrong direction. Pretty cool design overall, though.
For sure. The louvers shouldn't be "grabbing" the air, trying to stuff cold air in.. They should be the other way to pull the heated air OUT.
Sent to paint before fixing the louver direction everyone said is not gonna work correctly , and man that throttle cable right on the side of the whole intake is hideous sorry man could have made a bent swooped tube from lower that directed the cable down instead of straight the whole manifold sorry but I mean if the owner likes it ok
Nah guy throw that box under the car.
Nice work. I noticed that the louvers in the trunk lid haven't changed. I still think that the openings are facing in the wrong direction. Also wrapping the car is a really poor decision by your client.
I can't think of any of the clients' decisions that have been anything other than poor!
@@thesinwagin yeah ... Those clients do exist.
Brilliant build project!!! I like the material you used for the grill yet for me I'd have given it a slight outwards curve in the top to bottom orientation to make it look 3D instead of a 2D shape.
We thought about bending it, but found it would be a bit too hard to get it to flow correctly with the headlight buckets sitting in the middle of the curve
@@SalvagetoSavage Yea, custom can get complicated quickly. I should know :) It can take something simple into a much bigger task.
What happened to this car? No progress for three months now.
We've been working on it! Things that need to be outsourced, like paint and upholstery take time!
That Add grille it's cool I like cotton memos that place very cool
Fantastic work as always but customer has terrible taste and style this is the ugliest Lincoln Continental I have ever seen
I like that grill a lot better. No shame in being 'wrong', I'm wrong all the time, you'd think I'd be used to it by now!
I love everything about this rig keep it up boys!
We're getting it back from the body shop soon so we can keep rolling on this one!
wrap? damn...🤢
Thank you
All that over the top fab work and then say f…it and mount the throttle cable on top of the intake that sticks out the hood…
How would you mount the throttle cable?
You guys are mad fabricators, make some mechanical linkage with maybe some small heim joints to drop below throttle body over to driver side then cable to pedal below hood , or is throttle body able to be flipped? Putting cable on drivers side and lower. I understand that the customer gets what the customer wants but seeing the cable on top like that really bums me out..
💪👊👏
Nice!
Wrap instead of paint? All that time invested and you cut corners
So, we're just NOT gonna take some time to focus on Dave's SWEET mustache???? 🥸
Love this car! Another killer build!
What's the over build cost?
Nice work Dave. Looks killer.
Thank you!
Hopefully those rear grilles will do their job and properly ventilate the exhaust compartment.
Everything else looks great to me!
They should do a decent enough job venting the trunk! We really appreciate all the support!
good job guys 👍💪
Awesome
Work
Thanks 😄
Loving this build
I would say that I don't want my Lincoln to look like that but everyone has their own style. I'm sure back in the day lots of people didn't agree with the way custom cars were being modified but look at the legends that were created. You guys are doing a fantastic job of making the owners dream a reality and the work is spot on as always. This Lincoln brought me to the channel and I'm glad it did!
Once this thing comes back from the body shop we should be having a ton of more episodes for you! We really appreciate the support. And you're right. Who knows how many builds back in the golden era of hotrods were written off before the iconic style was developed. We're just trying to break the mold and do something different while keeping the customer happy!
@@SalvagetoSavage I just love how you guys do things that I feel like I could do also, and am doing, without all the hype and fancy tools. Not to be discounting the fact that you guys are hugely talented, motivated, ambitious and imaginative problem solvers. Love watching all of your builds. Keep up the great work!!
Great job, Andrew, David and Mike!! Cool grille, kinda a cross between The Car and Black Beauty from the ‘60’s Green Hornet TV show.
How cool can you get? Kato?
👍🏼👍🏼
Looks great guys.
Thank you!
This car turned out better than I initially thought. Getting rid of that grid helped, I guess
I can see the " Ant hill mob" driving that...😅
Love this build. Glad to.see you got rid of the "nifty fifties" grill. It just didn't fit the car. And I still say your louver vents are facing the wrong way.
For sure. The louvers shouldn't be "grabbing" the air, trying to stuff cold air in.. They should be the other way to pull the heated air OUT.
Where did you get the gear selector from?
Sorry for the misspelled word
That’s going to be a great looking Lincoln. I am looking forward to the finished product. Yeah, the grill is quite a step up from the previous one. Well done boys 🤙🤙🤙
Thank you!!
After this car leaves ... its going to ... Ripley's Believe It or Not!...😢💀🫡🫡
