    Make sure you're hooked up with the kill switch cord. Those kind of seats can and do pop off. Happened to me on a 14 foot Starcraft and 25 Merc. Hit a big boat wave from the side and it popped the rear seat off and I ended up on top of the fishing rods and barely in the boat. Only thing I could hang onto was the throttle handle. Went into a wide-open death spin with me half way out of the boat hanging on for dear life in a tight circle pattern. Not fun. Was able to slowly gain some leverage to get enough of me in the boat and I could push the tiller handle back and slow it down.

      Wow that wouldn't have been fun. Yes I usually try and use the kill switch cord when running any distance at speed. The rear seat is bolted down pretty good. I have since replaced the front bench clamp type seat mount with a bolt on type. The clamp type turned out to be completely unsafe and could slide off the bench.

    I have an older V14 without the split seats or floor, like your layout better. I have a 1987 Evinrude 2 stroke, 75# and a lot of zip. Wish I had a speedometer reading to compare. My previous 14’er was a Mirrocraft. The v14 rides better, and handles waves and chop, better hull design. The V’s are a heavier but worth looking for.

      They are good boats for sure. The split bench definitely makes it easier to move around.

    Alumacraft and a Yamaha F Series. Great combo.
    I have the 2021 V16 and a new 2021 F25 to put on it this year.
    Looks like you have some switches done too.
    Do you have a walkthrough of the rest of the boat for what you have wired up and how?
    I’d be very interested to see that too.

      Great boats and motors for sure! I will try and do a video later on showing the wiring, depth sounder and bilge pump setup I did. Pretty basic setup but it's a good idea.

    Hi Jon, I'm getting ready to buy the same model with the 20" transom. Just wanted to double check that you are using a 20" outboard long shaft, and that this combination works well for you? Thanks!

    • @questwest9135
      @questwest9135  3 роки тому +2

      Yes the transom and motor are 20”. Works very well! Good to have that extra clearance.

    Great setup, throw an tach on it, there is a green wire with plug in it up front, buy a universal tach.

    What is the beam on the boat? Any experience with waves from other boaters/ wakes?

    • @questwest9135
      @questwest9135  2 роки тому

      68" beam. Seen plenty of waves and wake, it does pretty good. As long as it's not too rough.

    I am looking at the same boat. Did you happen to get the 15" or 20" transom and engine shaft? Still happy with the quality? Thanks!

    • @questwest9135
      @questwest9135  3 роки тому

      I went with the 20” transom and long shaft motor. Definitely recommend that, less risk of waves splashing over the back.
      I’ve had the boat out quite a few times so far this season and am very happy with the quality of the boat and motor.

    How’s it handle in rough water?

    • @questwest9135

      Only had it out once so far, so not sure yet. I don't expect it to be great in rough water as it is pretty light and only a 14.

      Hey Jon,
      How does the boat load and unload from the trailer. I'm considering the same boat but am not crazy about the factory trailer. It looks like it's meant more for a flat bottom boat than a vhull.
      Kevin

    • @questwest9135

      @@TKOSNGR Hey Kevin, My trailer is definitely made for a v or semi v. The bunk angle, height, width etc is all adjustable.
      The only change I will probably make is to lower the bunks and the bow support so the boat sits a couple inches lower. That way I won't need to back it in quite so far to launch and load it. I have been having to wade in about knee deep with the boat sitting as high as it currently is.
