This is great thank you! When I made a big witch hat I used this method as well but instead I patterned it from one I just shaped with foil first. But I like the idea of starting small and just scaling up! I’ll definitely give this is try :D
I think a tutorial on how you made it from the scan to an actual usable digital file would be super helpful! I'm working it out on my own but i bet there is a number of people who don't know where to begin
I always see the model to scale method but never see anything going into *how* exactly to scale the pattern correctly to fit your body/form properly... Could you perhaps show us sometime how to gauge that? Thanks!
We use a website called Nifegun which is a cosplay scale tool that can help you identify the size of the items you make in relation to your own height! :3 Its super handy!
That was an awesome tutorial!!! Great camera work, and plenty of great narration. I like how you used faux leather instead of painting for the pink color. No respirators needed for this piece!!
@@xhorrorhaleyxI am in the same boat. I opened the file in adobe acrobat reader and try scaling the hat, but the hat brim still has a 32IN hole for your head! That hole is WAY too large lol.
Wow. I came looking for a Shock witch hat for my 6 yr old's nightmare before christmas costume and stumbled upon this glorious masterpiece. Beautiful work.
Is that a Magilou cosplay I see in that thumbnail? _sign me up_ I love me some Tales of series. Edit: It is not Magilou buuuut good tutorial anyways xD
WOW!! I love the way you demonstrated the pattern making in the beginning! making a little sculpt first is so smart! :) thank you for this fantastic tutorial!
Kinpatsu please make a visual aid for your other witch hats cause lord did I struggle with the simple ones with out a video. I made this big hat with no problem but the other ones took me forever I almost just gave up. 😵💫😭
how much does it weight? is it hard to go around with even with the pins? im planning to do a dimentio cosplay and i've been brainstorming how to do his hat, and whilst the type of hat isnt the same (his is more of a flower/crown looking harlequin) this video is suuper helpful and it looks gorgeous!
Whats the brand of the glue you use Precisely? the contact glue i use doesn’t stick strong enough to push and pull the foam and keeps falling apart even after w8ing 15 min before making both sides touch.
This is so perfect for a cosplay I'm working on!! Definitely plan on getting the PDF tutorial!! I wish you had the pattern for sale for the costume as well!!
Hi kinpatsu! I really love your videos and I’m a big cosplayer! I want to make things just like this video but I’m having a bit of trouble with the glue.😅 what glue should I use and where do I get it?
I highly recommend barge contact adhesive If you can find it! Sometimes leather shops actually sell that glue! For me that's some of the best contact adhesive. When I lived in south Africa I used a brand called genkem
As someone who’s done quite a bit of cardboard cosplays it’s possible to do the same methods here, like making the patterns for the foam itself but rather your making patterns for cardboard. The hard part is making it stay round and not hard and angular in shape once you cover it with a fabric. You could stuff it with some plush stuffing or some grocery bags (I’ve seen it done before!). However I haven’t done that as much so I can say it works 100%. Although there are cheaper sellers of Eva foam or knock offs of it (got some knock off foam at michaels recently for like 3 bucks using some coupons hahah) So it’s not as expensive as you think and what I initially thought when I started cosplay. And it’s a lot for what you get sometimes! I even remembered being suprised how much foam I had left after doing a fnaf cosplay and still managed to make a hat and some other small props (with the same knock off from michaels!)
I have to make a new hat, but I still don't know how to do the measurements. Could you give me some advice? By the way! your work is amazing and beautiful ♡
Would you be able to do a tutorial on Shock's hat from Nightmare Before Christmas? I've been looking for a pattern for that for a while and can't find one
By any chance how did you scale your patterns from the small tape pattern to the larger pattern. I know nifegun will help with size but always wondered how to do the ups along to know if it’s the right size.
What type of glue works the best? You're using one in a tube but every one people talk about is where you use a brush. This stuff looks way easier to use.
At 4:54, there's suddenly an extra foam piece attached inside the hat that wasn't mentioned anywhere else in the video, and I spent way too much time trying to figure out how the foam was suddenly thick af at 5:02
I've never even thought about using a small clay model to create patterns. It's galaxy brained and I can't wait to use it in the future
Some furries do that to make the head.
it looks like u took this streight out of the video game! Just reached through ur screen and took it!
Or3oWolfe its so cool right !!!
what game

Me : *watching video*

Me : ok this should be easy

Contact glue is unforgiving

Can you do a tutorial on how to make convincing animal TAILS to go with your animal ears tutorial?
We're definitely considering doing one in future! :3

Thank you so much!! :D
Ok, someone needs to make this exact hat for the sims 4. Just sayin...
yes!

How do you print this out to scale? I’m having trouble with making it as big as it needs to be
So helpful and looks amazing omg!! Question… i just bought the file, how do you print it out to scale?
did you ever figure this out? I'm stumped
@@xhorrorhaleyxI am in the same boat. I opened the file in adobe acrobat reader and try scaling the hat, but the hat brim still has a 32IN hole for your head! That hole is WAY too large lol.
Not a fan of Peach's style, way to much pink for my liking. 😖
But for a Wicked Bowsette Witch. 🤯
I bought the plans a few weeks ago and am looking forward to making one for my daughter!
Thank you for the tutorial! I bought the pattern to make a cute Halloween witch costume with some cosplay flare ( • u • )
This looks fantastic your really amazing!! I've wanted to get into cosplay for a while so I think I'll give it a try thanks to you 💗

You have to be psychic because this is EXACTLY what I need right now! Thank you for making this!
This is so useful for halloween cosplays! Thank you so much for always sharing your process 💖
Didn’t realize it was that big-
Wow. I came looking for a Shock witch hat for my 6 yr old's nightmare before christmas costume and stumbled upon this glorious masterpiece. Beautiful work.
Wait a minute... did Mario Kart Tour grabbed this idea for Princess Peach witch hat?

How do u digitise and scale the patterns to the right size??????????
This was the very first pattern I've bought and I love it! I'll be wearing it with my Dice cosplay for youmacon on halloween and I'm super excited!
Hey. I know u guys making Halloween peach from mario kart!
I know this video was years ago now but this still perplexes me. Why a straight stitch? 4:36
Which software do you use to make or to scale your patterns?

Bonjour comment avez-vous fait pour agrandir votre patron svp cordialement corinne
What kind of fabric would you recommend if I was making a big fedora hat?
Would 4mm or 6mm work if we can’t get 5mm?
Hey this might be a dum question but do you know who to sharpen the craft knife
Whats the brand of the glue you use Precisely? the contact glue i use doesn’t stick strong enough to push and pull the foam and keeps falling apart even after w8ing 15 min before making both sides touch.
We use a local brand called Genkem but I believe Barge contact cement is some of the best glue out there. :)
What software magic do you use to bow up your pattern?
This is so perfect for a cosplay I'm working on!! Definitely plan on getting the PDF tutorial!! I wish you had the pattern for sale for the costume as well!!
How many yards of fabric does this take?
Good luck to you and your professional team
I don't know what it is about foam hats, but I just want all of them
I needed this form a Black Waltz 3 hat, didn't know how to cover it up, great tutorial
Absolutely amazing!! Thank you ❤❤

Can you do a witch hat tutorial but instead of EVA foam it's with cardboard? My broke goofy ahh can't afford the EVA foam ;-;

The hat Looks amazing 😍 but how do you transport it?

Ur the best
I would likely make the tiny statue a tiny hat XD

But where would I place the clips?!

Está hermoso!!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I would have never thought to sculpt a small version and then just scale up the pattern... Amazing 💗😭🙌
Hi!! Where in SA can I get fabric like this? The stretch material that you covered the foam in
Never thought about making a smaller version then scaling it to size... that’s nice! ❤️
This was insanely helpful! Thank you so much!
