This was also my first sonic game. This is a great review of the game and I am 100% on board and I like this game too, but I feel there are some things you forgot to say. Such as the tails combos being COMPLETE A- I mean very held back due to the wind up animation. Thats a huge problem in the game I think. Overall I like this game and ur review. Definetley gonna sub to you.
Nah, I love this game so much too and I never see anyone talk about it cos it's such a polished and enjoyable game, it's short but still tons of fun! I love this game so much too and I legit think it was my 2nd sonic game ever and to this day I also think it's still an underrated game, HEAPS OF FUN AND THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD!!! Okay I'm glazing but I love this game too!
Thanks for this! Yeah, it's very overlooked. I think Sonic 4 is very misunderstood on what it was supposed to be, and I also don't think it's name reflected that. They were evidently not trying to make it play accurately like the classics. They were taking a lot of gameplay aspects and building directly from it. They made each zone a remix of a classic zone to make it feel familiar but also have a new twist, so I don't think they wanted to make it too different but also not too similar. It really feels like a 2d Sonic game from the Saturn era, hence the homing attack, modern Sonic and low poly look. I think this game is relatively creative with that approach and is overhated in that aspect. Even Episode 1, I think, is good. I didn't mind the physics, and I might have enjoyed it even more than this one for its gimmicks. But I even think this game is better than the classics as it seems to polish up the gameplay more and has more creative bosses and variety in its level design. I think the level design utilises speed more even if there is some automation involved. As it was an episodic release, I think it was intended for each to take inspiration directly from each classic game from 1 to 3 rather than be its own thing, so I think they were scared to do something very different, but also not too similar. I also don't like the classic and modern separation that they do these days as it seems to ignore that middle ground between SA1 and Sonic 3, so I like how it pays homage to that. Hence, I would have liked to see an Episode 3, but we know what happened. I'm not sure if it's better than Superstars or Mania, but I think it's a very worthy sequel to the classics overall. Also, it's a shame that Tails isn't playable in single-player.
Only reason it got forgotten it because people thought it sucked balls. I liked it, I gotta admit, but in my opinion, EP 1 was.. well, it was just Sonic but with the 3D-like Sonic and stuff.
Seeing that whole mid-video part of the music rlly made this a whole lot better

Even more ironically, SONIC CD WAS MY FIRST EVER CLASSIC SONIC GAME. The one that tied in with Sonic 4 Episode 2😂.
I'm more biased towards CD though because I memorize the level design due to me playing it more.
He cooked again.
YO, THIS WAS YOUR FIRST SONIC GAME TOO? I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE😂😂😂.

The most interesting thing is to do it in a co-op
