As a fan of The Who, and the U.S Army, this is fantastic...Love seeing them in their dress uniforms, and seeing a younger generation interpret this music, love it!
This is imo one the best rendition ot the Tommy Overture out there. I'm impressed with the arrangement and with the musicianship of all the members of the band. Impeccably executed.
Got to be honest I presumed I'd hate this but actually I found it very moving. 1921 is a classic piece of Townsend and such a strong song. Tommy will go down in history as one of the great pieces of song writing. Thanks for posting.
Arrived here on a Tommy binge and glad I did... Fantastic, moving, and rocks in all the right places. Wonderful vocals. Kudos U.S. Army Orchestra & U.S. Army band Downrange! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Absolutely beautiful!!! My band actually toured with The Who off and on during '68 - '70 (actually as the occasional opening band!) and we got to see all the many variations of their tunes over those years. This is simply stunning. Terry
Awesome performance. Didn't know what to expect going in but loved the whole concert. Always looking for different interpretations of Who tunes and this was one of the best ever. Too bad it wasn't in front of a more appreciative audience.
Brilliant folks, such a great performance and the first fanfarerock version I ever heard. Excellent musicians an great singers too. I enjoyed it very much.
I am past being impressed. When I was a 10 YO kid I h1jacked this album from my sister and listened start to finish, every note and chord I know. To see the U. S. Army band take up this project is SUPER cool. Pete Townsend is very proud, I'm sure.
The fact that Military personnel are playing this is amazing. War is a horrible thing. How many “Tommys” might exist? Many I suspect. Vietnam? Afghanistan? Ukraine? Russia? Wonder how many? Much respect to these talented performers. Tommy is an Opera. I would love to see a modern staging where Captain Walker is a Gulf, Vietnam or Afghan war veteran.
No, the father comes back unexpectantly from the war and slays the lover, who had taken his wife in his absence. He, the boy's father is the one who sings, "I had no reason to be over optimistic, but somehow when you smile, I can brave bad weather." Because he was assumed dead.
The keyboardist comes off a little 'contrived' The bass player is 'feeling ' 'it' I remember when the drums were a timepiece, to keep the rhythm of the music for the band, and then at some point it became an instrument in it's own right. Keith Moon was one of the reasons. Nowadays, it's both, and that's difficult. he pulled it off here. BRAVO!
to bad at 6:32 they didn't harmonized the chorus as the original version. I came just to hear at that. In my opinion is one of the most beautiful passages in the whole pop music history.
Did this audience win the prize for being the worst audience ever? That lady singing her heart out in Love Reign o'er me should have sung them Comfortably Numb
My friend, the world's biggest Who fan, told me to watch this. I was FLOORED!!!!! This band, these singers, this orchestra - WOW !!!
As a big Who fan who saw their Quadophenoa tour in 96, an Entwistle following bass player, and an Army Reserve Band Commander…I am in awe! 👍🏼

This is pretty much the coolest thing I have seen in the last twenty years.
Big fan of the Who and Tommy in particular and just stumbled on this. Amazing!!
Beautiful - made me emotional. Wish the drummer had been given a bit more licence though. Lots of good Keith Moon fills missing.

Very impressed! I did not expect that the Army Band could (or would) rock out like this! This is really awesome!
This is just amazing! Such music! Also, your cameramen / videographers are phenomenal as well! You do our county proud! Thank you for serving!

Well,I didn't know what to expect but by 0:30 I cranked it to ear bleeding level like it was The Who. Outstanding job people!
As a Army Vet plus a rocker I just want to say........WAOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Going to Tommy on B-Way in NYC Thursday night! Can’t get enough!
Damn they do our country proud and rockin while they do it!
True musicians…they can play anything! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally the army´s doing something for its own people !- Love it!

Marvellous! Great arrangements, performance and sound mix.
I was looking for an alternate version of "Tommy" that I'd like and I've finally found it!
Outstanding rendition !!!!
Outstanding! Loved the arrangement and vocals very much. Very nicely done.
You guys gave me goosebumps

Amazing journey.
Superb.

Un-freakin' believable. Am,azing. You guys ROCK, TOTALLY!
Damn, she is amazing! Voice and beauty of an angel.
Best Who cover I've heard.
When I was in the Army when we were on maneuvers, we would sing The Who's Baba O'Reilly, "Out here in the fields, I fought for my meals."
🤪🤪🤪🤪
Tears that this Masterpiece is performed by the Next 'My Generation' in of all places the army of the UNITED STATES !!!~

Very, vey fine work.. Greetings from Germany
Brilliant Job Lads!
This is cool! Another one to add to my collection of Tommy cover bands!
Tommy....melhor peça do The Who...e muito bem arranjada!
Bonjour de France. Formidable les gars!!!!
Love this. Great work!

Two Nord keyboards, a Gibson Les Paul, a Fender Jazz Bass (I think), among other instruments. These guys are well funded.
It's the U.S. Army, they get all the funding. If it were a Marine band playing, there'd be an Epiphone guitar and Squier bass.
there is something preposterously wonderful about this !! somehow it works intensely well!
Brilliant
fabulous
Can this be purchased?
If not, could it be made available, possibly with proceeds going to Vets?
This is just awesomely incredible.
Great!!!
Great... tommy...
I've been a fan of Tommy for many years - really very pleasantly surprised by this. Fantastic.
Nice job fellas!! The
Outstanding!!!!
SUPERB !!
Wow, well done. Great singers. The lady has an excellent voice. Love her. Who is she?
Wow I never knew this existed!
Estupenda versión, sí señor.
WOW
For the people that liked this (as I did) I would suggest a listen to the LSO version from 1972.
Bless The Who, and God bless America🤘
BRAVO!
- - marv.
this is great
Amazing job
Fantabolous! I just learned this on guitar only 40 years after I wanted to it begins in c no?
Loved it!
I'm sure Pete has seen this but I'm curious all the same what he thinks. This is incredible.
Круто, красиво исполнено, молодцы👏
Awesome!
Quelle reconnaissance pour Pete Towshend !! Extra !!
It’s sad that this is a better arrangement than what The Who is using on their Moving On Tour with an orchestra.
Awesome! You guys are gr8!
Espléndida interpretación.
This is the track I'd suggest a band play if they wanted to be cool af.
I wonder how many were playing their own instruments?
As good as Assembled Multitude IMO. Great singing, playing-the whole bit. Beautiful Les Paul too.
Hermoso!!!!!
ALGUIEN VIO LA PELI

i don't think this was a Who fan base. Local elderly and handicapped?
Freddie P I am hysterical. Seriously sad. I felt for them. They were amazing.
Testament to Townshend's genius. Next do Quadrophenia.
I think Pete will like it too...(my guess) I think it is a great tribute to Pete Townshend and the Who.
Army. Who. Nothing else needs to be said.
Who says the U.S. Army does not ROCK???
!!!!!!!!!!!
А почему вы негра барабанщика держите за стеклом?
B
BAMF's !
El mejor músico del mundo es Uncle Ernie porque toca la Overtura de Tommy con el pito.
Let me play drums with this !! I'll make it shred better !!!
Enlist.
These guys are awesome musicians but it pains me whenever a drummer does his or her own thing and doesn't play the drum parts exactly like Keith Moon.
Who can do that?
Keith Moon he is NOT, nor Ginger Baker, Bohnam, or Mitchel.
Nor Peart
Or palmer
