- Hello everyone! Welcome to my UA-cam channel. Today, I bring you an outstanding review of two large-diaphragm condenser microphones: the Austrian Audio OC818 and the AKG 414. I had the pleasure of collaborating with the talented singer Angelica Parisi for this video, which was filmed at Trees Music Studio under the direction of Guglielmo Lipari, with the opening and closing theme composed by Andrea Arcaro.
In this review, we meticulously compared the performance of these two high-quality microphones. Throughout the recording sessions, we employed the renowned Universal Audio 6176 channel strip and the powerful Focusrite Red 8 audio interface, which played a pivotal role in achieving exceptional audio results. The recording was made without any use of compressors, plugins, or reverbs.
During the video, you'll have the opportunity to listen to Angelica Parisi record her incredible voice using both microphones and appreciate the nuances and differences in sound and detail between the Austrian Audio OC818 and the AKG 414.
Thanks to the support of Trees Music Studio, we were able to capture every subtlety of her voice, highlighting the unique characteristics of each microphone.
I hope you find this review interesting and helpful for your purchasing decisions or your curiosity about the performance of large-diaphragm condenser microphones. Ottima comparazione, trovo questo tipo di video molto utili per chi non sa ancora cosa scegliere! Complimenti!
The OC818 sounds a little subdued, or smoother, but the 414 XLS sounds more open and natural. Depends what you need in the end
Fantastica performance!!! Complimenti
Grazieeee😘

0:42 am I hear clipping ?
👏🏻
Complimenti visissimi...personalmente preferisco l'Akg 414
Entrambi microfoni fantastici, personalmente forse trovo il suono dell’AKG un filo più definito
Curioso di provarli!!

Sibilance expression and transient on C414 is way better than OC818 for me.
I can't see how the oc818 is better? I was looking for the legendary c12 sound but it is not giving it. Looks like AKG is the best option.
@@NickAnanas I felt the same
C414 sounded way much better
I’m hearing this too, but I wonder if (a) the C414 take is a tad louder, which would generally make it sound better and (b) the OC818 may not have been optimally configured. It has some insane companion plugin for hybrid polar pattern mixing and I’d be curious to play with the source recordings to see if there’s extra detail that could be brought out.
@@zachvalenti That's very much possible, but I have found (at least with the new 414s XLS & XLII) that they have a tendency to sound louder than other mics even with the LUFS matched. I'm not saying that's the case here, but that is something that I've observed.
Is that the C414 XLS or XLII?
XLS, you can see the name when it pans around the microphone.
Hai il tuo suono, puoi provare anche 10 microfoni ma la personalità della tua voce prevale...
Che bellezza… l'AKG aggiunge più bassi. un suono un po' più caldo. I suoni Oc818 sono più naturali, cosa che preferisco.
