Its the best version of this song, hands down. Antony OWNS the emotion behind its meaning. It makes me cry every time.
I was fortunate enough to see him perform with Lou Reed. I had no idea (at the time), what I was lucky enough to witness.
He almost loses himself in the song but returns to grasp hold of the truth in it. Very powerful.
Anohni is so locked in, in this performance. I loved the song before this, didn't think any cover could do it justice, but this performance is easily my favourite version of it

Im fortunate to have seen many, many artists. Cohen was by FAR the best.

havent watched reaction yet but I'm same...First time seeing this (TBH) I was like what is this?? This dudes voice is super high and he's weird...but by the end i was also in tears. And still makes me tear up. I'm a big Cohen fan but had not heard this song before...part of what made me cry is the sentiment of a Cohen...A man who's living depends on his "artistic voice"...offering to be silent if God tells him to. The sentiment to give up the one thing that is most important in your life if god wills it. That in itself make me cry.
Then there's ANtony's performance which is also so emotional (I'm pretty sure he tears up during it). How could you not, as a singer, get emotional singing this song. have to speak the words out loud to offer God to take your voice away. that's heavy. I love this performance. thanks for reacting to it
