Me too, I'm 70🎉 but he touches so many younger people too! I always loved how he introduced everyone in the show! R.I.P. Leonard I still can listen for hours ❤
It' similar with me, I was 16 when I saw him 1st time in concert. Now I'm 57 and he accompanied me through my live. No other songwriter is so close to my heart, I love his vice, his poem.
Looking for Leonard Cohen and Judy Collins, you gonna love that, I have been listening he's music for 20 years, every night and the weekend's, I Love this so much
I went to see him perhaps 10 years ago and these lovely ladies were there as well. So many standing ovation ! God bless Leonard Cohen God has him in the palm of his hands .
I love how his genius allows the beauty of the sisters to shine, yet we all are aware of this mans genius, musical generosity and deep humanity. I adore him. I miss him and am greatful for him. What a spiritual genius
A broken man, with a broken heart speaking from his broken soul, in a broken voice. Haunting and sublime. I was lucky enough to attend a live concert, graced with his presence. One of the most memorable experience of my life. Thank you for giving us all those beautiful songs. RIP Mr. Cohen, hope that one day I"ll join you and be in your presence again !
In my opinion Leonard Cohen was very far from from "a broken man, with a broken heart speaking from his broken heart in his broken voice". In this clip he was just an older man quoting the introductory words of his song Let it be your Will that he regards as a prayer, prior to handing over to the Webb sisters to sing. Leonard Cohen since his emergence in the 1960s has always been a comptemplative, reflective singer and an excellent lyricist songwriter.
My heart aches for all those who never discovered Leonard Cohen either on purpose or accidentally. My heart aches to know that years from now someone will hear this song in its entirety and ask who was Leonard Cohen... how can you explain the raw honesty and complexity that was Leonard Cohen??? Another shooting star to split the sky in my lifetime and leave too soon.. I love you... Leonard Cohen .. thank you
David Cohen, stage name David Blue(no relation)wrote a song dedicated to Leonard,"The Troubador Song" .Thankfully,I have found this beautiful song whilst still on the earth plane.
I was 17, my sister was 18 and she lifted the record player arm and placed it gently on a new vinyl recording of Leonard Cohen singing Suzanne. I was captured and discomforted. The part that drilled right through me was: "And Jesus was a sailor, when he walked upon the water. And he spent a long time watching From his lonely wooden tower And just when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him He said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them forsaken, almost human he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone." That was close to 60 years ago and ever since, as I navigate a particularly difficult self-inflicted trial, I think (and sometimes even smile) wondering is this what it takes to bring the Ground of Being into focus? Again and again in my journey Leonard Cohen has shone a piercing uncomfortable light into the fog of my life. Thank you Leonard!
Keeps dropping my comments. I shall speak no more. Sir Leonard sings it all. He was The Poet of our generation. So grateful our current youth hear Him.
If It Be Your Will [Leonard Cohen] If it be your will That I speak no more And my voice be still As it was before I will speak no more I shall abide until I am spoken for If it be your will If it be your will That a voice be true From this broken hill I will sing to you From this broken hill All your praises they shall ring If it be your will To let me sing If it be your will If there is a choice Let the rivers fill Let the hills rejoice Let your mercy spill On all these burning hearts in hell If it be your will To make us well And draw us near And bind us tight All your children here In their rags of light In our rags of light All dressed to kill And end this night If it be your will If it be your will.
Well, yes, the sublime Webb sisters. But also, this poem/song, especially when one considers what gave it birth, touches the sublime in its profound devotion and surrender.
Me too. I have seen a lot of concerts of many great masters in my life, but I feel blessed and lucky to have the chance to see this. I think it's the best I've ever seen
There are only temporary Atheists.....one day for sure the pain of it becomes unbearable and the Longing for the Supreme Love, Goodness, Compassion veiled & distorted by the personal Ego starts to truly awaken....which is the very Beginning of the true spiritual journey....of deepest purification from all false unloving traits, thoughts, emotions, ideas & concepts of self & "others"....and in this long journey back HOME there eventually really & truthfully comes the point that one IS absolutely willing to lay down their physical Life for the very sake of LOVE itself... All words fail to describe both the intensity & immensity of Supreme LOVE & GOODNESS itself when this point is reached...as one has so deeply purified and surrendered for a long time to this REALITY of Supreme Love & Goodness that ONLY becomes accessible by the GRACE of that very LOVE & GOODNESS itself that most people refer to as GOD, usually as an honoring of God for proven sincerity & integrity of intentions.... Honoring all the real Saints of Humanity that have been there before me and encouraging all those coming after me. For there IS a REALITY of unspeakable LOVE, GOODNESS, COMPASSION & GRACE. It IS my true hope that eventually everyone may experience THAT Reality in their own time... 😘🙏❤
I came back to this song after listening to one of Leonard Cohen's last interviews in which he said that he never considered himself a religious man or really had any spiritual strategy. Ironic then that so many of his songs, especially this one, are bridges between the mundane and the divine.
Don't worry, Brother Leonard is with God and God is always here & now..... Thanks for everything Leonard..... Duty nobly done. 😘❤🙏 We are all on our way HOME. ❤🙏

I missed Leonard or maybe I wasn’t ready to receive. I fell into his music through Hallelujah which I listen to every artist that sang the song when I heard the writer of that song died . I decided to goggle this man. Iwas amazed and continue to be enthralled by his authenticity, his unique voice and his magical lyrics. I am in my mid -70’s And will enjoy swimming in his voice and lyrics. What a gift he is.
I owned his first album. Then lost track, only to rediscover him thru the Live in London concert decades later. Had no idea I had missed all that, in my mid 70’s and grateful I didn’t lose track forever.
There's always been that part of people's imagination of faith of hearing angels sing on arrival at heaven they most likely sound like the webb sisters with their strings and voices

My now wife introduced me to Leonard when I was 21. I thought hi songs were desolate and negative. Scroll forward 50 years and I was privileged to see him perform the exact same set with the same musicians and backing singers at Hanging Rock as those which were on his London recording. geniuses
Amen to that. One of the true & real inspirations to not lose faith in life & Humanity...It doesn't get much better than this, thanks for this most beautiful Prayer Leonard. 😘🙏❤
Amazing....these is something wonderful about the harmony achieved by siblings...the Everly Brothers of course were the best commercial example of this but it’s also with the Corrs, Kings of Leon, the Carter Family, the Osmonds, the Jackson’s etc. But this performance by Charley and Hattie Webb of one of Leonard Cohen’s most beautiful songs is close to perfection....
I cannot believe I lived so many years and survived without Leonard Cohen's beautiful emotional unleashing music , lyrics , and life ! But it was better late than never ! Thank you Dear Leonard. May you rest in Peace !❤️
Saw him in concert twice in 2009. Was fortunate to hear this song in person. I still miss him and cry for him......he can break your heart beautifully.
I cycled to Vienna from deep in Eastern Europe in the Summer of 2015 to escape the calamity of a cherished long-term relationship in its death throes. We arrived filthy and haggard. I so desperately wanted to bump into Leonard at a fountain, a square, a concert hall. I saw his face everywhere. I wanted to look him in the eye and thank him for the beautiful words he bestowed to us all throughout his career. A nice dream. Alas, all I found was a lobby with nine hundred windows and a tree where the doves go to die.
I had the great fortune to attend the Leonard Cohen concert in Durham in November, 2009. The sublime Webb Sisters’ rendition of this song is the most beautiful sound I have ever heard in my life.
When I was at the lowest point in my life in the early 80's Leonard Cohen's music and poetry got me through it , he will always have a place in my heart.❤❤
@@jbuntine1255 My friend, the pain you are feeling is simply a measure of your love. Understand your pain in that context and it actually becomes a blessed thing. Praying God's Peace and Comfort for you.
I was fortunate to see and hear LC and his wonderful group that accompanied him for his 2009 tour. Boston Wang Center. A fantastic concert that I claim as an uplifting religious experience. I was blessed to fully appreciate the man, his music and the moment. RIP and thank you.
Fortunate to attend the concert of LC in the Wang Center in Boston in '09. Actually, it was much much more than a concert. It felt like a beautiful religious ceremony. To say it was remarkable would be an incredibly weak attempt. I absolutely loved the night and LC and the Webb sisters along with everyone on the stage that night provide rich tones and color to the already profound words of an absolute master of pen to paper. I knew that I was fortunate to attend such a magical night. Every time I hear Leonard Cohen I am reminded of the fact. RIP Mr. Cohen. I hope that I am good enough good graces that I will be able to confide to you how much you mean to me. If I get in, I will look for you.

He has been a huge influence on my life and through me on to my children but now I am facing the next stage of things and I reluctantly accept that death is going to be part of that. This is a perfect song for my time of life.
Few years back, preparing for a surgery where I didn’t know I would wake up from, I listened to this song on my iPod as I went through the pre surgery ritual. I would have been perfectly content if this had been the last song my ears had heard.
He has been used to deliver Gods message to those who seek His face and especially touching those who needs comfort and healing on their timely discovery of LC songs

[Leonard Cohen]
If it be your will
That I speak no more
And my voice be still
As it was before
I will speak no more
I shall abide until
I am spoken for
If it be your will
If it be your will
That a voice be true
From this broken hill
I will sing to you
From this broken hill
All your praises they shall ring
If it be your will
To let me sing
If it be your will
If there is a choice
Let the rivers fill
Let the hills rejoice
Let your mercy spill
On all these burning hearts in hell
If it be your will
To make us well
And draw us near
And bind us tight
All your children here
In their rags of light
In our rags of light
All dressed to kill
And end this night
If it be your will
If it be your will.

I can not understand people that do not appreciate his gifts!
I come here after watching From S01E03. To listen to this wonderful voices and try to understand the lyrics.
Leonard Cohen himself said it was a Prayer. I would hazard to argue, inspired by the Poetic Psalms of David the Shepherd, Warrior King of Israel.

Well said
When you use the word mundane I get a sense of the scale of your observation
of this earthly world rather than a heavenly or spiritual one.
"the boundaries of the mundane world"
Especially since Cohen means "priest" in Hebrew. He is litterally à descendent of Moses, Aaron and the family line of priesthood.

Was lucky enough to see him twice before we lost him. Sad day in my life. RIP One of the greatest songwriters ever
Heartbreaking singing!

Few years back, preparing for a surgery where I didn’t know I would wake up from, I listened to this song on my iPod as I went through the pre surgery ritual. I would have been perfectly content if this had been the last song my ears had heard.
So glad you made it through safely. Rog. Pacific sunset records.

He has been used to deliver Gods message to those who seek His face and especially touching those who needs comfort and healing on their timely discovery of LC songs
