1:07 actually, Porsche decided that the type of driver that drives their cars wears a three-piece suit and is not mechanically inclined to be pulling dipsticks. What is so dumb about their system is that the level cannot be checked unless the oil is "hot" above a certain temperature. They should have designed the system so that you can also check the oil level "cold".
Thnk You VERY MUCH Sirs , as I have always owned pickup trucks my entire life , Just. Purchased my very first car ! A BEAUTIFUL 2009 9 1 1 3 . 8 L Sounds beautiful , not blaring loud , But rather a confident Growl . JESUS BLESSED me with a Great car ! ! Denver
What oil would you use on a 150k miles 991.2 3.0? I see the level is mid, but it starts to make a ticking noise 5minutes after i started it. (After sitting for a couple of weeks)
I just picked up my car from an oil change it say oil level ok but just one green bar. Do you believe it was my engine on when I checked and not underfilled?
I just picked up my Porsche from an oil change and ran it for 20 min. Indicator show level ok but only 1 green bar. Do you think some inexperienced mechanic under filled it?
The Porsche manual states it must be at "operating temperature" which is normally achieved in just a couple minutes. Good point but grossly overstated...
Oil warms slower than the water. Most people don’t open the bonnet to use the dip stick. It was dumbed down as good engineering, that adapted to make it easier to avoid over and under filling

Thanks for sharing. I also am old school preferring the dipstick.
Agree I like seeing the oil on a stick better, and great video for future 991 owners!!!
Thank you
thank you for the video, this helps a lot for my new job at Porsche Dealership.
Should I start the engine
or just Ignition on/engine off ?

I want to check my oil condition though! It should be clean with a low mileage car but I guess the only way to find out is to pull the plug?
What if if says no information available?

how about telling us what years that method works for???
We identified Porsche 911/991 which is 2012 to 2018. What model 911 do you have?
Highly recommend you take it to the dealer when it's time for an oil change. 😁 Good video. Thanks.

you forgot to mention one major problem. You need to run a vehicle more than 20min to check its level. fking ridiculous
