In almost 30 years of collecting knives, this the first and only lateral stress test I have seen from anyone, let alone a maker. Respect to Maxace. I hope they can come out with some long hard use knives that don't look like they came from a steam punk fairytale.
Maxace are the one of the most interesting & resistant knives i ever saw! I absolutely love how they look and how they overbuild it ( integral titanium style). I think those blade are M390.
They used the wrong steel. They used m390 a high wear resistance steel and made it high toughness instead of high wear. In return, making it low value. Why not just use high hardness steel and make m390 high wear instead? That would be the proper smart thing to do.
Couple of behemoths there! I have two Maxace knives and they're both well made. Would like to add one of these oversized beasts at some point. Maybe the Hephaestus 🤤.
I own both of these and tons of other Maxace knives in my collection and albeit awesome, it still hurts my soul watching you hammer the spine with that steel hammer. Also, you might want to tape over or sheath the cutting edge of the blades before standing on them. Great way to get a trip to the hospital if that knife rolls. -Doom Out
They are both $500 for the base model. I keep seeing you throw out this $800 number. Where are you getting that number from? The Timascus versions, yes, but not the base models.
That's too much money for m390 that's been lowered in value by raising the toughness and lowering the edge retention. They should have used a different steel high in toughness instead.
So much respect. I own it including the Mammoth Tanto, Hephaestus and few other smaller monsters thanks to a great guy that was willing to sell them to me. I know that when I carry one I can depend my life on it.
@@DeezAlbanianNutz do you know nothing about steel and heat treat? M390 is a high wear resistance steel the is optimal at 62rc or 60-61rc with secondary hardening and cryo. They should be using a high toughness steel instead if they want high toughness like these tests. They used the wrong steel and made it worse by lowering the hardness and wasting it. Lowering the value of the knife in general and wasting the steel.
@@tacticalcenter8658You are talking about primary and secondary heat treatment/cryo. I thought you had some real insider information that no one had lolol. Mine is 61 Hrc and it kicks ass. Yea I know exactly what they did because I own it. Don’t talk about things you don’t understand, please.
@@tacticalcenter8658what are you talking about? I tested mine and is at 61 Hrc. And it holds an amazing edge. How have they wasted the steel. I though you had insider information on something extraordinary about this knife but you are talking about primary and secondary tempering/cryo 😂😂

Thanks for your support! Yes, Vortex and Titanis are M390 blade.

thanks for your reminder!
M390 is a wear resistance steel, they should have used a high toughness steel again. They made your steel less value
Awesome!
😳
$800... absolutely absurd
There was a model for $487 at Atlantic Knives, but it's sold out. The others go for $700. I think I'll just get another Cold Steel Rajah 2

Absolute Madlads.
Also where can I buy a Maxace Velcro patch?
And will there ever be a Sandstorm K but with 14c28n?
First batch is sold out, and we just plan to re-product the second batch. thanks!

My Bailout clone can do same things!😂😂😂
No it can't. Proven so.
